I could hear your distress even from where I was sleeping deep in the well.” “Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to wake you!” Momo wipes the last of her tears away. “It’s just… I dropped my ball in the well, and now it’s lost forever. It was a gift from an old friend, so it was very special to me.” The frog croaks again, sounding almost thoughtful. “Maybe…I could get it for you?” Momo gasps. “Could you?” She clasps her hands together. “Oh, I don’t know how I would ever repay you! I suppose a frog wouldn’t be interested in gold or jewels… Is there anything your heart desires?” She places a hand over her own heart. “I promise I will do my best to fulfill whatever it is you wish!”
