Kim Dokja despises mainly three things/people—Kim Namwoon, the constellations, and his mother.

He hates Kim Namwoon for his hypocrisy, for the gall he has to fight alongside Yoo Jonghyuk as his companion despite his evil and unworthy nature. He hates the constellations for watching him and his companions' suffering from afar for their own entertainment. Lastly, he hates his mother because she imposed her own self-sacrifice on him by taking his role as a 'murderer' and deceiving him. She assumed that was what's best for him without even hearing out what he had to say, abandoning him as a result.

It all sounds familiar, doesn't it?

You then realize he despises them because they remind him of himself. Because there's no one Kim Dokja loathes more than his very own being.

Sometimes I start thinking about how meta ORV truly is.

And then my head starts to hurt.

Take the trifecta of Reader|Writer|Protagonist for example. They all sacrifice 50% of themselves for eachother. Han Sooyoung with her 1864!avatar and Yoo Joonghyuk with Secretive Plotter. The only person who doesn't split themselves 50/50 is Kim Dokja, the Reader. There's something to be said about him choosing to be selfish, choosing to commit the biggest lie of "2%". This selfish decision hammers home the point that readers ARE selfish. It's a point that keeps reappearing and taking on different forms, with Constellations and whatnot. But here, demonstrates that to it's fullest.

Readers are selfish creatures who live and breathe of another characters Story, and won't do the same thing as their loved ones — sacrifice half of themselves — as they did for them. They will keep being selfish until the end, keeping the 2% for themselves, because that proves they know the characters better than their clone. The characters they only know through Reading.

i like how the uma designs came out a lot. hsy has a more punk rock-like wild fire aesthetic and kdj is more ethereal and creepy. i tried making his headgear look like his dkos face scars too. And the ear coverings looking like the horns.

There is a train headed towards a little boy. Diverting its direction would cause the train to crash into a vast world, a protagonist receiving most of the impact.

However, the writer still chooses to divert the train's direction, saving the boy in the process.

For she loved the boy so dearly.

And the protagonist loved him just as much, which is why he held no animosity for the writer and her choice

But what about the protagonist?

What does he have left?

He comes face to face with the child, already grown up and mature. And seemingly, the he finds his purpose.

The boy has given him a reason to live.

But the boy should've been the one run over by the train that day. So he leaves the protagonist due to his guilt.

For he has also come to love him and his creator.

And now, the protagonist has nothing left.

There are three ways to survive in a ruined world, or rather, three ways to cope with one's regrets or traumatic memories. You could read, write, or even regress.

Yes, this is embodied by the main trio themselves. But there's a reason why they're all so relatable.

Regressing is rumination. You dwell on negative memories, replaying them over and over to figure out where you messed up. It hurts to remember, yes, but it'd be way more painful to make a mistake like that again. And now you're trapped in that moment, unable to move forward.

Reading, on the other hand, is escapism. Why actually face the problem or even bother to think about it when you could just drown yourself in other things—novels, movies, games, or even work. Anything would do, really. Anything that could help you forget.

Writing, though, is quite different. It's reclamation. Rather than letting your past mistakes and regrets define you, you reclaim your story instead and decide how it goes. You take action, using lessons from your past to reshape your future. Much similar to how an author seizes the gaps between the letters to prolong their stories.

After all, every human being is their own writer, remember?
