Throughout the filming of The Misfits (1961), Arthur Miller constantly rewrote dialogues, staying up late at night, and the following day he would review the new script with dir. John Huston. Marilyn Monroe’s depression and lack of any support made it hard for her to show up on set for the filming, and the constant changing of scripts made it much more difficult. She didn’t consider the movie anymore as a gift. As the shooting went on, she took more sleeping pills, arrived later and later, and when she finally arrived, she only confided in Paula Strasberg.
