im-never-sirius:
“It’s my birthday, I think I deserve another drink.”
“And what number is this one?”
cordeliapotter:
“Just be careful, yeah?”
“I’m always careful,” she shook her head. “But I’m also not going to just stop being his friend. People will get over things.”
cordeliapotter:
She sighed. “I’m just worried, that’s all. I know how much your work means to you, I don’t want anything to jeopardize it.”
“I know,” she sighed quietly.
cordeliapotter:
“Maybe just keep it quiet, that’s all. I know it’s a shit thing to say, but,” she sighed.
Mia was quiet, considering her words, “Yeah, I suppose...”
cordeliapotter:
“Regardless, they both love him,” she shook her head.
“But they don’t know what he went through,” She shook her head, “I’m the closest that he has to that.”
im-never-sirius:
“I made a mockery of the entire world we live in,” he pointed out with a chuckle.
“Mmmm,” she hummed, laying back to look at the sky as well, “Some of it deserves to be mocked.”
cordeliapotter:
“He has James and Remus,” she shook her head.
“Yes, the auror and the one who blames himself for what happened to Sirius,” Mia shook her head, “It’s not the same. He doesn’t have anyone he can talk to about what happened.”
cordeliapotter:
“What is and isn’t true isn’t the point,” she shook her head. “And whether they admit it or not, people read those things.”
“I can’t just stop hanging out with him, Cora,” she grimaced after a moment. “He doesn’t have anyone else.”
cordeliapotter:
“I mean, you can’t tell me you don’t see what the papers say about him.”
“Those are tabloids,” she argued weakly, knowing it wasn’t a very solid point.
im-never-sirius:
“I don’t particularly care what they think of me, it’s just weird being around it again.”
“That makes sense,” she nodded, “Hopefully they’ll come around.”
im-never-sirius:
“Because whether or not I want to deal with them anymore, they’re there. I have to see them, I have to interact with them.”
“But dealing with them isn’t the same is not letting them have a say in their opinions of you.”
cordeliapotter:
“No, they wouldn’t. He’s private, no one knows who doesn’t need to know,” she grimaced. “I’mm not telling you what to do, M. I’m just saying.”
“I just don’t understand where this is coming from,” she grimaced, sitting down in the nearby chair with a frown.
cordeliapotter:
“No one really knows about Remus,” Cordelia shook her head, grimacing. “And we were only together for a few months.”
“But people would have figured it out eventually if it’d gone on,” she shook her head. “Sirius is a Black, it’s not like he’s not influential. And now he’s in the Wizengamot. He could help us.”
im-never-sirius:
“Oh, the biggest,” he chuckled. “Or one of.”
“So why waste your time thinking about what the ones that don’t matter think?”
cordeliapotter:
Cordelia paused, sitting up. “I just – you’re at an important point in your career. And right now, whether or not we care to admit it, it matters what people think.”
“How is this any different than you dating a werewolf?” She asked, shaking her head, “And Sirius and I aren’t even together.”
im-never-sirius:
“Because now I’m back in it,” he rolled his eyes.
“But aren’t you like the big name or whatever?” she asked, rolling her eyes. Truly not having very much understanding of the English wizarding aristocracy.
cordeliapotter:
“Until people start to believe it’s true,” she said quietly.
“Wait- are you being serious?” Mia asked, shocked.
