"Oh, I’m sorry to hear that." she said, feeling her heart tighten slightly. He reminded her a lot of herself when she first came to the city; sweet, welcoming and big eyes filled with hope. Except, she could of left for the first few years, and this guy was instantly stuck. "Things are pretty bad here, but it’s just slightly worse than any other city. You learn what you should and should’t do and how to get by, so it’s not truly awful. You kind of just adapt, you know?"
He paused as they came to the main street, now bathed in the halo of a street light he looked the woman over. He listened closely as she spoke. He knew he was thrown into the deep side here and so any advice he could get he would take. It would seem surviving this city was going to be harder than he thought. "Hopefully I adapt before I..."
