Match Preview for Real Madrid v Borussia Dortmund

Two of Europe’s top sides go head-to-head again in the Club World Cup quarter-final clash this Saturday as Real Madrid meet Borussia Dortmund in New Jersey.

A familiar rivalry from the Champions League and earlier in the competition, the stakes are higher this time around as the winner earns a semi-final spot against either Bayern Munich or Paris Saint-Germain.

Real Madrid have looked strong since their opening draw with Al-Hilal, cruising past Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg before seeing off Juventus in the last 16.

Under Xabi Alonso, the Spanish giants look every bit a contender for their sixth Club World Cup crown.

Dortmund, meanwhile, have enjoyed a major turnaround under Niko Kovac. After finishing the Bundesliga season in style and topping their Club World Cup group, they defeated Monterrey with an early double from in-form striker Serhou Guirassy.

With momentum behind them and only one loss in their last 10 games, the German side are a dangerous opponent, even if history leans heavily in Madrid’s favour.

yern Munich’s coach, Vincent Kompany, said that he felt his blood boil after seeing Jamal Musiala taken off on a stretcher during Bayern Munich’s 2-0 defeat to Paris St-Germain in the quarter-final of the Club World Cup. Musiala’s left ankle appeared to be dislocated following a challenge from Gianluigi Donnarumma just before half-time in Atlanta, with players from both teams covering their faces and looking away, clearly affected by what they had seen.

The Bayern Munich coach called the injury an “accident,” but the goalkeeper Manuel Neuer criticised Donnarumma’s challenge and the club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, said that the PSG goalkeeper had not taken sufficient care.

Ozzy Osbourne goes out on a high at farewell gig

Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath have gone out with a bang at what they say will be their final gig, in front of 40,000 fans and supported by an all-star line-up of rock legends who have been influenced by the founding fathers of heavy metal.

Ozzy, 76, who has Parkinson's disease, sang while seated on a black throne - clapping, waving his arms and pulling wild-eyed looks, just like old times.

He appeared overwhelmed at some moments. "You have no idea how I feel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart," he told the crowd at Villa Park in Birmingham.

He was joined by the full original Sabbath line-up for the first time in 20 years.

tropical storm chantal

MIAMI — Tropical Storm Chantal formed off the southeast U.S. coast and was forecast to bring heavy rains to parts of the Carolinas on Saturday. Tropical storm warnings were issued for portions of the two states, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said.

The storm’s center was about 65 miles east of Charleston, South Carolina, on Saturday night, and 120 miles south-southwest of Wilmington, North Carolina. Its maximum sustained winds were clocked at 50 mph, and it was moving north at 8 mph.

Rain bands from Chantal were moving over the coast, the hurricane center said, and the storm’s center was expected to move over South Carolina overnight or early Sunday with flash floods an increasing concern. The storm was expected to weaken rapidly after landfall.

Heavy rain was forecast for the coastal plain of the Carolinas through Monday — total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches, with local amounts up to 6 inches — threatening flash flooding.
