Hi, it's nice to meet you! I'm Molly and I've been a fan of Michael for years now. I've had thid blog for a while now but have only just recently decided to make a blog intro.
I'm in a lot of fandoms other than this one but this blog is specifically Michael-focused. However, some of my other interests include Rocky Horror, Death Note, MARINA, reading in general (but hmu if you've read and enjoyed Girls on Fire by Robin Wasserman). I love the sitcom Superstore and am obsessed with musicals. I love Alice in Wonderland and, while I believe the original intention of the story was just a fun children's tale, I'm partial to darker interpretations.

Writing is my passion and honestly I think I could do my fics a lot better bc I tend to just rush through them and do them purely for fun and it would be nice to properly focus on writing style and description and stuff like that in a fic one day, but I'm glad you enjoyed it!! I was really proud of that one in terms of character and story.
There's a Maxryl fic in ao3 with Max being a bottom and I got really shocked because I see Wesley Snipes and the last thing I think about him is he being topped 😭😭😭😭

I think people shit on Invincible because they were told to shit on Invincible. What I mean is that obviously Sony did not market the album when it came out and had big beef with MJ, so they created a narrative that the album did not do well. It did WELL! It sold over 3 million copies worldwide in its first five days. It was one of the best-selling albums of 2001. But, at least in the US, reports about Invincible insisted the album flopped. People heard that and decided the album flopped. The album was bad. But they didn't give it a listen. Or if they did, they listened knowing "the album flopped" and made their judgments with that as their foundation. Now, in the year 2026, people return to Invincible and are shocked because they are listening to it for the first time without all that noise in their heads about how it flopped. And they're realizing Invincible is good. What they haven't realized yet is that Invincible is the reason some of the best music to come out of the 2000s came out bro. Invincible was the blueprint of the first decade of the 21st century.
I miss fandom spaces from before social media. Now tags are just filled with people arguing about made up "rules," overwhelming spam, AI bullshit everywhere, miserable trolls who join spaces to argue about nothing, & people who are intentionally fucking dense for no reason. Barely any discussion about the thing we're supposed to be here for.
Is it because people have no lives outside of the internet? It is because people have to be entertained 24/7, so they have to create nonsense to yap about? Attention spans are dead.
Put the phone down. Sit with your thoughts. Go outside. Read a book. Meet up with other humans in real life.

I go into my other fandoms and everybody's like EVERYBODY GET FREAKIER AND KINDER AND FILTHIER AND MORE FUN NOW and I return to this fandom and everybody's like "to be freaky is to be evil and your kindness is parasocialism and your filth means you're a terrible person and you shouldn't be having fun this is not a joke"
The thing that really gets under my skin about sentiments like that Reddit person is I feel like I keep seeing this attitude around of "even if he didn't do anything he was accused of he was still a creepy weirdo", like he's guilty even if he isn't. It doesn't help that they make the comparison with Mr. Rogers either because it's like, of course the white man gets to be seen as wholesome while the Black man is perverse. But it's also frustrating because I find it hard to tell to what extent he may have genuinely had a problem or behaved inappropriately (in a non-physical way) versus how much is just what people project onto him out of visceral discomfort with his unusualness. And it really triggers my own personal anxieties about kids feeling like even though I know I'm not a danger to them I still need to be hypervigilant and constantly interrogate myself just in case.
Yeah I get what you mean 😭 realistically we didn't see Michael with kids that often because it's not like he had cameras around for his private life. When it comes to stories other people have told, we don't know how much is true. There are also cultural differences to take into account—Michael grew up in a big family and shared a room with older brothers when he was really young. So he doesn't see anything inappropriate about younger and older people sharing a room, whether they're related to him or not, because he was also taught (through religion) to see everybody as family. At least as far as I can tell.
There are always going to be moments when people don't understand partly because the cultural difference is so wide. I personally have a massive cultural difference to Michael and because of that I recognise that things that might seem strange to me would seem normal to him and vice versa. A lot of people seem to struggle to acknowledge this.
At the end of the day, a lot of people just wanted to criticise him for the sake of it because they couldn't believe that an effeminate Black man could be so much more successful than the more masculine white men that were his peers. I also think that a lot of people see Black men as being more masculine inherently and thought there must be something wrong with Michael that would explain why he didn't fit their preconceived notions of who he should be.
I don't think he should have shared a bed/bedroom with children not related to him because, even though I don’t think there was anything sexual about it to him at all, that is always going to make people raise an eyebrow unfortunately. But other than that, I think he was just behaving in a way that was normal to him. As a kid, his best friends were adults, and he grew up to become a best friend to kids just like him. I think that's how he viewed the situation. But, to iterate from my other post, we can't be certain about what was going on with him. I hope he had some understanding of himself though. Just because it must have been so confusing to receive so much hate if he didn't.
(Would also like to state that I'm white myself but I talk quite a bit about race and culture here so if anybody has anything they'd like to add/correct that I might not see then go ahead.)

Black ppl deserve to feel safe and welcomed on the internet, on fandoms on whatever community or hobbies they want without having to deal with antiblack racist attacks, microaggressions or enablers of antiblackness . And if u genuinely consider urself to be left leaning or an ally or woke you should do and try to unlearn the colorism, texturism , eurocentrism and antiblackness

Do you think there’s truth to this that Michael had a one dimensional fixation on children like they were emotional support animals?
There's definitely complexities to this. To say Michael saw children as a form of "food" in any way is much too far—I'm sure that's based on Michael saying they "revitalise" him but most introverts experience some people who are less exhausting than others and therefore have this effect. For Michael it was (mostly) children because he didn't have to be constantly worrying what it was they wanted from him. Children are far more honest and I'm sure that's one reason why he found them to be such a refreshing presence.
"Emotional support animal" also seems like a very weird way of describing it. It's definitely true that Michael got the same thing from every child he met, emotionally, regardless of their personality, but this isn't a secret. He openly said that all children make him feel happy, etc., just for being children. So this isn't any great analysis but certainly is something very unusual about Michael. Most people can't relate to loving all children so much in the way that he did (I know i certainly can't) and because of this it can be difficult to put our finger on why he felt the way he did.
But he romanticised childhood. He felt like he never experienced it, he was always told he acted mature for his age, and he clearly internalised that a lot as a kid, especially seeing as most of his friends were adults. So I think the part of most of us that says "children aren't exactly unicorns—I can remember being one" is maybe just not there for him, because he feels that he can't remember that. (Of course he can, but he seems to have a bit of a warped perception of his youth in that way. Like his siblings have said he did have childhood experiences, he did experience some childhood, and he just rejected that whole concept. He seemed to feel like admitting he had some happy moments as a child where he got to be free would invalidate all his pain.)
I feel like when it comes to a lot of this tho, he needed an actual therapist to talk to him extensively about his feelings on childhood and children if he ever wanted to get to the bottom of why his feelings were so dramatic compared to most people's. I think, as much as we may want to say "it was just bc of his missing childhood", there has to be a lot more to it than we can't possibly unpack just from watching interviews online. A lot of people missed out on childhood but didn't feel like he did. So what else was at play? We can't really know for sure. His feelings about children have always really mystified me. We can only speculate based on factual things we know and things he's said.
There was also that part of his life where, as a teenager, people just wanted him to be "young and cute" again. That might play a bigger part in it than we know. But again, all speculation. We have no way of looking into it.
