ik this blog has been mj based for a while but omg does the Nolan Odyssey movie piss me off and i haven’t even seen it yet. from what i’ve seen of the reviews and what ppl are saying about how he stripped characters and cut important scenes

it’s not even an adaptation any more, it’s a based on movie cause how tf are you going to take the most morally contradictory character in written history and completely strip him of everything that makes him contradictory and complex?

but also get rid of everything that makes this a fantasy myth, which is what the epic is!

i’m gonna be so fr rn.

i understand that fanfiction is for free and that the writers do it for themselves most of the time. i also get that they all have different styles of writing

but as a reader, there are certain things that irk me and make me not finish the fic.

(it also makes the english major in me scream😭😭)

examples: when there are no paragraphs/they’re not defined, the speaking parts don’t have “”/ aren’t defined/having no clue who’s speaking, no spacing in speaking parts.

i’m not saying fics have to be perfect english paper level or proof read, but these are the most basic things to make a story truly readable for me.

of course this excludes if you’re not english cause then how would you know, even though most of the best fics are made by non english speakers. seeing that ‘english is not my first language’?

omg it’s like seeing heaven cause i just know it’s going to be the most jaw dropping fic.

also i’m confused on why writers ask if their audience would like it if they write a certain idea, if you wanna write it then write it, your audience will probably like it cause it’s your writing they’re a fan of.
