My name is Sarah, and I’m 19 years old. I’m writing this to inform people about mine and Elias Srouji’s relationship. I must preface this by giving you background knowledge of who I was and what I had already experienced when I first met Eli, when I was 15. There is a massive trigger warning for...
Trigger Warnings for rape & multiple other types of abuses.
Reposting and sharing these experiences can only be of greater & deeper help, so i’m implore that you do so, please.

Fund For The Children of Eric Garner
Eric Garner was extrajudicially executed by the police, on camera, and Daniel Pantaleo was not indicted for his murder; another instance of State violence on Black bodies. And as each name surfaces, there are families left behind. Real people. Real lives devastated. Recently his wife Esaw spoke out about this, passionately and painfully.
His family has created a fundraiser for their survival. Please support them as they try to heal unbearable pain and continue their work for justice. On the site they mention:
This is a fund to support the children of Eric Garner: Shardineé, Erica, Emerald, Eric Jr., Emery and his grandkids: Alyssa, Rhiley, and Kaylee. This campaign is owned by his 3rd oldest child, Emerald Snipes. Your love, encouragement and support is appreciated.
To support, click: Fundraiser For Eric Garner
There are many ways to support of course, as so many of us have been doing for the multitudes of victims of State violence, not only him (nor only Black men; Black women/children, Black LGBTQIA people are also victims of State violence). However, at the end of the day, money and tangible resources are needed too. Please support and/or BOOST.❤
If you are an individual who excuses/apologizes for corrupt police behavior and/or pushes uninformed/uneducated/unchecked nonsense to downplay the discussion of race in relation to past & current events...
You are severely incorrect in your conclusions.
What you are effectively doing when you:
-Advocate on behalf of aggressive (re: brutal) police activity
-Spit bullshit about "how you don't see color"
-Spew verbal diarrhea about "how so-and-so was in the wrong and being shot multiple times is just an unfortunate happenstance of said event and the color of their skin isn't a relevant factor blah blah blah blah blah"
(this list of wrongdoings isn't limited to these three points in any way)
is:
A.) Further normalizing state violence.
B.) Further normalizing social/racial inequality (i.e. White Privilege).
and
C.) Solidifying the stranglehold of systemic oppression and it's various constructs that seek to systematically target people of color. This, in turn, allows relentless perpetuation of the aforementioned process within any conceivable availabilities. (This is, more or less, what follows from the combination of points A & B).
(Again, not limited to these three points)
"You side with the oppressor."
You allow racism to continue in what you would repeatedly swear is a post-racial America.
You neglect the confusion & fear the non-white individual feels "when being told how to behave in a system that threatens the life/livelihood of the non-white individual."
You write off and/or ignore the experiences of those who can count the number of minutes or hours between instances of anything ranging from unwarranted, unwelcome, micro-aggressions to full-blown acts of racist intimidation & violence on a single hand.
"You side with the oppressor." "You side with the oppressor." "You side with the oppressor."
The ***absolute least*** you can do is work towards understanding a system of institutionalized racial oppression. A system that was built on the exploitation & oppression of non-whites. A system perpetuated by the habitual move to silence and/or violently strike down dissent produced by that of non-white experiences, and in the case of current events, experiences of the black community, specifically.
Keep in mind that these non-white experiences can never be wholly understood when perceiving said experiences as a beneficiary of white privilege. This isn't to say that engagement in these issues is not important. It's critical for further discussion & action to be positively productive.
With all of this in mind, it must be engrained in all of us that there is no room for passivity, silence, and willful ignorance.
