â Me too. â Riley rolled her eyes with an endearing, yet guilty grin on her lips. It was almost a sigh, but one that lightened the air around you. It was true though, the kitchen was the first room she had felt comfort in, and had found herself in more than any of the other rooms. âOther than the kitchen though, I donât know if Iâd really be good for anything else you may needâ if I tried, we would just be lost in circles.â The girl laughed. Riley was a little too trusting with new people. It was the innocence in her that hadnât quite been broken yet. Before Michelle could object, or make movements on her own, the blond was already sliding two mugs off of a rack, and making movements to brew some coffee. âSounds perfect right about now.â This time, her sigh was more tired sounding. The girl had been up all night with a plethora of neon highlighters sketching out her next week plan at work. Being a Production Assistant was tedious and most of the time, Riley just felt like her body was on auto pilot- too much going on around her. âDonât feel like you need to sit and have your coffee with me,â oh god, now she was awkward in her nerves. Did that come out wrongâŠ? âI just mean,â needing correction, âI donât want to make you uncomfortable, plus sometimes I can get nervous and not know what to sayâŠ.. but if you donât mind that⊠then youâre more than welcome to join me⊠I can share my peanut butter too â your own spoon too of course,â okay. Stop. Too far.Â
michelle let out a playful laugh when riley agreed with her. âthe kitchen is an essential place to know for regular meals but also a midnight snack or two.â she smiled widely, food was always the one thing michelle could talk about. if she didnât become a detective, she wouldâve been a chef. âthatâs no problem hun, i hope i can figure it out sooner or later.â she said in her thick new york accent. she watched the girl already bring down two mugs, glad that she was already getting the chance to get to know someone. she noticed the slight change in her, knowing all too well what sleep deprivation sounded like. âlong night?â she asked curiously before finding the pantry and getting the coffee out. as she poured the ground coffee into the maker, she listened to riley and turned to look at her with a confused look. âitâs okay, i asked you if you wanted to have a cup with me. plus, i intruded on your peanut butter time so itâd be rude of me to kick you out.â she grinned, giving the blonde a wink and a chuckle. âi understand where youâre getting out, doll. donât worry i will get my own spoon if youâre up for sharing.â
