Final Week
It’s crunch time!
GREAT NEWS! We have partnered with the gym Crossfit Closer in the first ever M&M Nutrition group fitness challenge. This means that everyone that has signed up from the gym will take part in the challenge. This is takes place all month long, and we get everyone to take a starting picture of themselves to compare at the end of the month. Then, I create macros for each member that is taking part. I’m excited to see where everyone is at the end of the month, and how successful each person is.
Other than that there have been no new changes, but with this being our first group gym challenge, I can’t wait to see what we can accomplish with the other gyms.
Wow what an eventful week!
We finally got our online payments up and running so this is a huge deal! By having our online payment option available, we can offer our services to clients all over the city without them having to come into our office to make a payment. I believe that this will allow us to bring in more clients.
I feel that M&M Nutrition is coming along very well, we have had some bumps along the way such as slow weeks, and not bringing in enough revenue as we had hoped. Now that we have the online payments live, this changes everything. I’ve posted on our social media page and sent out e-mails to current clients alerting them of the online payment option in hopes that we will be able to bring in more clients.
I’ve included photos of our online payment page along with an example of what it would look like. So, we include that there is a %13.00 tax recurring with the amount , and that the monthly recurrance starts immediately. We also have a drop down bar so that the client can choose what gym they go to, however this is optional and they do not need to include it. We have this option just to see what gym are most of our clients coming from. Then, on the second page it has the updated amount with the tax, along with payment details. The payment details include name, e-mail, and card details. Once they finish filling out this information they click complete and they now have paid online. An electronic receipt will be sent to their e-mail.
Overall we are doing great, and with the hard work M&M Nutrition has been putting in, it will only be a matter of time until we reach out to other parts of the country.
A Small Update...
Well, in terms of clients, I have gained another one, and they’re doing the one time template. I’ve also managed to get my website officially up and running. I’m very pleased with how it came out and I’ve included some photos. I think that my project is coming along as according to plan, I know that it’s going to be a slow start. I’ve learned to be patient with the process and to continue to work hard. I’ve learned about myself that when I am a hard worker.
Back to the website, I’ve got for a colour scheme of green, white and black. I’ve also set up the option for people visiting my website to create their own profile. There are still some things I would like to add such as paying online, so I’m hoping within the next couple of weeks I am able to get that up and running.

M&M Nutrition
WEEK 9 UPDATE
WEEK 9 UPDATE
What is working is my website, it has a very catchy look to it with complementary colour scheme of green and white. I also manage to get 3 more clients at the gym my office is set up at. 2 of them signed up for the monthly check in and one signed up for the one time macros and nutrition plan. That has been very encouraging!
What isn’t working is reaching out to other gyms, I know this is a busy time with crossfit gyms being that it’s the open, so they don’t seem to be getting back to me as quickly as I hoped. I’m debating on starting the online option for M&M Nutrition in hopes that I reach more crossfit athletes across Ontario.
The overall project has had a bit of a rocky start, however the more that I’ve been advertising to the gym I am located, I seem to be getting more clients whether they’re just curious or looking to improve their eating. It’s definitely had a “started from the bottom now we’re here” type of feeling.
I’ve learned that running a business is a VERY slow process to start, but I need to keep going at it because hard work will pay off. I’ve also learned comparing week 8 to week 9 is that I am not a very patient person on top of not being confident. Oh boy, another thing I need to work on! Patience is a virtue, and good things take time. This is what I need to keep in mind. I can’t wait to see other potential clients, and to get my online site up and running!
Update
what is working? What IS working is my website, my logo and the location my office is currently set up at. My office is set up at Crossfit NCR. I’ve been working with the other coaches to have informational classes for members of the gym to get them acquainted with M&M Nutrition, and to gain possible clients.
what is not working? What isn’t working is the promotion aspect of it. I thought this would be a lot easier than it currently is. Other gyms are currently working a nutrition coach so they don’t feel like it is in their best interest to work with me. So instead of coming to them directly, I need to change this by coming up with a new appealing pitch to the other gyms, similar to what I did for my business pitch but to appeal to gyms.
how do you feel the project is coming? I feel like my project is coming a long very well, it’s something that I am passionate about so there is still very much a drive to keep working hard to make it successful. I already have my first client, she’s one of my co workers from work. She has an upcoming wedding, so she wants me to help her with her eating because with what she’s doing now she’s not sure if she’ll still be able to fit in the dress. So that was encouraging since my business isn’t fully up yet.
what are you learning about running a business? What I am learning about running a business is that there is a lot more work needed to be put in to constantly. I realize that it’s not just an easy set up a website and logo and start promoting the business, but there is a lot of money that goes in to running a business such as all the hidden fees like licenses, fee for running a small business, and realizing it’s not going to be quite successful within the first few weeks of having it up and running.
what are you learning about yourself? What I’ve been learning about is that I need more confidence in myself. I need to work on putting myself out there in terms of promoting my business especially since it’s a service that I’m offering not something that customers can physically purchase.
My Financial Source
The financial source that I would consider for taking my business forward would be “Angels”. I think that this source will benefit greatly because they are not a bank loan, or a grant, and are willing to spend anywhere from $25000 - $100000. My company is looking for $25000. They finance the early stages of the business which is exactly what mine is. They don’t want to be paid back but instead they want to oversea the company management. They’d want to see what their putting their money towards, and how I’ll make money from it.
With M&M Nutrition we create plans and coach athletes to creating a healthy lifestyle through counting macros. Our services are very thorough and provide a lot of details about what they client will be getting . I have a good market for my service because nutrition programs in person and online are gaining more and more popularity. There are no loop holes with my business. Also, since my main office will be located in a gym there is already that potential for clients in this gym.
I’d be okay with Angels overseeing my business since it will be saving me money from a loan. I believe that being a small business with a big potential, Angels would be perfect for me.
Business Operations Plan
With my business there aren’t actually products that I’ll be selling. Instead, I am offering a service to my clients. So I will not have to spend money in that area, however there are costs that go into creating a website and logo. If I want a customized template for my website and paying a professional to do it then I’m looking at spending anywhere form $300-$1000. A logo design for my company can also range in price depending on what I’m looking for. Therefore it’ll cost anywhere from $300 to $1300. I’ll also need to register my Business name which will cost $85 for 3 years or $36 for 1 year. Then there’s registering my business in Ontario which will cost approximately $145. I’ll also need to set up an invoicing system for those that need it for their health benefits. I’ll also need to set up online payment for my online clients. I do have an office for clients that prefer walk-ins at my Crossfit Box which will cost $200/month to rent.
Marketing Persona: The athlete that isn’t seeing any progress in the gym
Name: Aimee Pickins

Local Competition
After researching 3 local competitors, and I feel as though my biggest competition is going to be Stephanie Kay Nutrition. That being said, my goal is to create nutrition programs that are affordable for individuals looking to start their health journey.

Experience : She is a registered holistic nutritionist.
Website experience: Website is very clean and sleek looking, logo is very simply and cute (black and white with a radish coloured to stand out) Everything is very easy to navigate to find what I’m looking for

Strengths and Weaknesses
STRENGTHS:
Creativity: I am a very creative person. I was in Animation for 3 years and I always enjoy coming up with new ideas.
Determination: Whenever I set my mind to do something I am going to accomplish it. I love the feeling of being successful and getting things done. Whenever theres an obstacle in my way, instead of giving up on it, I figure out ways that I can overcome it.
Dedication: I used to give up when things got too difficult but now over the past couple of years I’ve had a lot of dedication to whatever I do. This includes being dedicated to my sport and getting into the area of competition as well as school and being dedicated to my courses and excelling in them.
WEAKNESSESS:
Confidence: I don’t have a lot of confidence so putting myself out there is more difficult for me than it is for others
Trying to Please Everyone: I don’t like to make people upset so I do what I can to make sure they’re happy even if it means putting myself very last in terms of needs and care
Speaking Up: If I am uncertain of something I tend to shy away and figure it out for myself instead of searching for someone that is able to help me
