SXSW ARTIST TO WATCH: WHISKEY SHIVERS Whiskey Shivers are a bluegrass/folk band from Austin consisting of a  mix of Upright Bass, Fiddle, Harmonica, Guitar, Banjo, Washboard, and Vocals. Their sound is upbeat and dynamic very much at the core of  bluegrass. Below is how they describe themselves on their Facebook page, and there is a 0 % percent chance I could have come up with a more accurate description. 

“A freewheelin', trashgrassin', folk tornado, The Whiskey Shivers take traditional instrumentation, soak it in gas and send it into outer space. Breakneck speeds, killer grooves and impeccable musicianship that'd make Bill Monroe himself do a double take. “

If you like rap, this guy is about to flip your world upside down. His debut album is super impressive in terms of both his raps and the production. Your Old Droog is a Ukranian-American raised in Coney Island who first gained attention when people were skeptical that this album was recorded by Nas under a secret alter ego. Yes, Nas.  I  don’t believe there is anything further to say to elude to the magnitude of this guys talent.

SXSW ARTIST TO WATCH:

FANTASTIC NEGRITO If you like funky acoustic blues music than this guy is worth keeping on your radar. The sound is a fusion of black roots and a slightly heavier blues rock with influences like R.L. Burnside and Lead Belly. He’s had a less than easy past and his music tells a story from the deepest roots of his soul. He released his first EP in September of 2014, and I cannot wait to find out whats in store for the debut album.

HOWARD: Falling

SXSW ARTIST TO WATCH:

HOWARD Howard, an emerging electronic folk trio from Brooklyn NY released their debut first album “Religion” in February 2015. Their sound is similar to that of James Blake and Jack Garrett but with three members you hear additional layers of sound to that familiar ambient bluesy sound we’ve heard before. The music blends acoustic soul with a darker rock edge on top of an ambient electronic base. “Religion” impressed me very much especially as a debut album and I will have a tough time choosing which song to debut on my blog since each of the songs is extraordinary.

Pedro Canale, better known as Chancha Via Circuito is an American producer of Afro-dance meets digital cumbia. Originally from Buenos Aries he mixes the sounds of current American dub/trip-hop electronic with drum beats and Latin flavor.
