Coming This Weekend! Gallavich Ever After: Fast Forward

I thought Gallavich week would be an appropriate time to make this announcement.
My muse has visited me yet again, compelling me to write another mini season to extend my series "Gallavich Ever After."

“But it’s an XL!” Erin moaned as she slithered through the doorway, trying to make herself appear as small as possible, crouching, with heels jammed together. She wore a short sleeved hot pink cotton top, scoop-necked, with a small satin bow sewn into the low collar. It was clearly too small around her waist, a fact that Erin clearly realized as she self-consciously sucked her gut in. In truth, she looked like a little pink tortoise trying to withdraw into her shell and Ian felt badly for her.
“Oh! That’s how their sizes run here, though - a little to the smaller side. Doesn’t even mean anything. Every store sizes their clothes differently and it drives me crazy,” Ian said. “How the heck are you supposed to buy anything online when the sizes are all over the place?” He really did hate the system of sizing kids’ clothes, especially girls. What the heck was a size 6X anyway? What was the difference between an XL and an XXL? And what girl actually liked being a "size XXL" anyway? Who the hell got to decide this stuff? “We’ll just get you the next size up, that’s all.”
“I can’t wear an XXL, Da! I feel like a big ol’ cow!” Erin burst into tears.
Ian sighed. “Oh… honey.” He was trying not to sound exasperated with her, but really. It didn’t take much to set Erin off these days. He was not looking forward to the teenage hormonal outbursts in the coming years.
“What’s wrong?” Mickey said as he turned the corner, with the now bright-eyed and bushy-tailed Cara still strapped to his back. Mickey carried two bags of shoe boxes.
“Everything’s fine,” Ian said, placatingly. “She’s just a little upset at the sizing.”
Mickey looked at her up and down, bewildered and exasperated himself. “So… she just needs a couple of sizes larger, no big deal.”
Erin bent over and puked then, abruptly, right there on the bright blue industrial carpet… and the pretty pink top.
“Mickey! Great, nice going!”
“What? I didn’t mean it like that. Cute top but it’s too tight across her little belly, that’s all.”
OK, so their daughter had a little pot belly. Not like she could help it and it didn’t help anything that Mickey chose to call it out.
“They’re all gonna call me fat again! I just know they are!” Cara moaned.
“Blah!” said Cara, looking over Mickey’s shoulder at the mess that Erin had made on the floor in front of her. “Fat girl, fat girl!!
Adventures in fatherhood… Ian thought. He wished she didn’t care so much about what other people thought of her, but at that age, it was much easier said than done. “Did you bring your anti-anxiety meds?” he asked.
Erin forlornly shook her head. Ian sighed. “It’s OK. Let’s go get you cleaned up.” He led her away.
“Oh miss! Miss,” he heard Mickey call out behind him as they sought out the closest ladies’ room. “Some kid just barfed all over the floor over here! Gonna need a bunch of paper towels…”
