Someone is killing people across a handful of rural towns. It’s nothing to do with Ian. Except for the fact that he knows exactly where the bodies will be found before the cops do. Because he sees it in his dreams. Flashes of bloody hands and dark forests and a clear picture of the victim.
He could tell the cops. But really, what’s the point? Like they’d wanna hear from someone who is having psychic dreams about the murders. Hell, they might even lock him away for the crimes.
So he says nothing. Keeps silent. No matter how distressing it is.
His family doesn’t seem to notice he’s struggling with lack of sleep and disturbing images. But one person does….his sort-of-boyfriend (not that he would ever say that to his face) Mickey. Which is weird because they don’t talk much, they just park in deserted places and hook up in the backseat of Mickey’s car.
So when Mickey says he can see something is wrong with Ian….it just all comes out. Because it’d been building up inside and Ian just had to tell someone. And…well, Mickey always makes him feel safe. Maybe one day he’ll tell him that, just to see the annoyed look on his face.
Mickey is silent after Ian shares everything. He stares at Ian for a long moment and then -
“That’s fucked up.”
“You believe me?” Ian is stunned and more than a little bit pleased.
“Course.”
Ian’s kind of blown away by the easy way Mickey says that.
“Thanks.”
“Don’t have to thank me, man.” Mickey shrugs but there’s a faint blush.
Ian still doesn’t know what he’s going to do but it feels good talking to Mickey.
The next night he dreams. There’s no body this time. No murder.
Just a vision - Mickey’s car with the windows steamed up, two people in the backseat (him and Mickey, Ian thinks, that’s us), an isolated area with no one around for miles and oh….no….someone walking towards the car….

we became interested in the artwork on mickey and ian’s cell walls during a rewatch, specifically the piece that looked to be more writing than drawing. we couldn’t find any information about it nor a super clear image online, so we decided to try and “decode” it ourselves.
after going frame by frame through each scene, looking at behind the scenes, drawing out a "font" guide, and even messaging a former props dept. crew member (which was ultimately fruitless but a very nice exchange!), we have gotten as far as we’re able to.

So, I've not been writing much these passed few weeks (been sick and also started a new course which is keeping me busy)....But....I felt inspired by this weeks prompt (hairdresser) courtesy of @spacerockwriting.
A lil prison era drabble for you x
----
Holy shit.
Mickey rose from the bottom bunk, blue eyes taking in his new look.
"Its gone".
Nodding, Ian ran his hand over his tightly clipped hair.
"Yeah, prison runs a barber programme," he explained, stepping further into their cell.
"Thank fuck. Couldn't look at that black shit anymore. Fucking weird, man".
His tattooed fingers reached out, gliding gently across his scalp, scratching a little.
"Can't wait 'til it grows back. Miss those stupid ginger curls".
Grinning, Ian gripped his neck, pulling him in, those familiar lips meeting his.

Summary:
It’s a dark and spooky night, and Mickey is alone in the house. Or is he?
Ian falls down, down, down into a spiralling darkness. One minute he’d been walking home and the next….well, he’s somewhere very strange.
It looks like the South Side but as if he’s viewing it through a distorted lens. Everything is downright….odd. The colours flicker and change, there are bizarre creatures that skitter away from him as he passes, and there’s not a single other person around.
A blank piece of parchment drifts to his feet. When he picks it up, words begin to appear on the page - ‘welcome to wonderland’.
The rain comes next. Ice cold and heavy, causing Ian to seek shelter. The neon lights of a motel are a beacon in the dark.
Inside, the desk is empty apart from a neat line of glass bottles, each with a different label. More words on the parchment - ‘drink one to find what you want’.
What Ian wants is to go home and he usually wouldn’t drink unknown liquids but if it’s going to help….then what the hell.
All the labels are sexual in nature….which is weird. But no weirder than everything else he’d seen so far. He chooses the least explicit one ‘lick me all over’.
It’s a vibrant reddish pink colour but it tastes of oranges…and whisky?
Somewhere nearby, he hears a low, throaty laugh.
A door at the end of a hallway swings open slowly, soft pink mist billows out.
There’s someone there. At first, the only thing he can see is a smirking mouth but then gradually a man starts to materialise. Dark hair, blue eyes, pale skin.
The mist seems to caress his naked form. He’s beautiful.
He locks eyes with Ian, “Come here” He says casually, and then turns around, disappearing into the mist but not before giving Ian a glimpse of an amazing ass.
Ian doesn’t know what the fuck is going on but he follows.
He wonders about the label on the bottle, was that for him or the man? Either way, Ian can’t wait to find out…..
Hours later, after a lot of magical sex, the man - Mickey - says he can show Ian the way out of wonderland.
“Only if you come with me.” Ian says.
Mickey simply smirks.
———
Idk what this is, Mickey is some kind of magical being with a Cheshire Cat type smile? Anyway, Ian makes it out of wonderland with Mickey.
For most people, Halloween is nothing but drunken parties, pumpkin carving, and trick or treating. For Mickey, it’s a once a year chance to rob people easily.
All he needs is a ghost face costume and a large knife. He breaks into a handful of places on the West Side, scares the shit outta some people and gets his own trick or treat haul of valuables. With all the other hundreds of people walking around in ghost face costumes, the cops never bother to investigate the break ins much and Mickey fences his stolen goods sometime afterwards.
It’s foolproof.
Until things go wrong.
The guy in the first apartment he breaks into fights back. He’s tall and strong. And hot.
Every single time Mickey’s done this before, the people just scream as soon as they see the knife. But this guy tackles him. He’s a good fighter and Mickey’s struggling to get the upper hand in this stupid fuckin’ costume.
As they wrestle for the knife, Mickey notices something -
“Are you….fuckin’…hard?”
The guy stills, face red, as he pants, “No.”
Mickey shifts. It’s an obvious lie. He can feel-….“You are!”
“Fuck off asshole! You are too!” He snarls, shoving at Mickey.
“I can’t believe this is turning you on!” Mickey laughs, as he pulls the knife away. He sits up, on top of the guy and stares at him. He’s really hot. Really hot.
“You’re the ghost face burglar. I read about you last year.” The guy says, not making any move to grab the knife.
Mickey should be running away, he really shouldn’t be sitting here. But…
He just can’t move.
The guy slowly, tentatively, reaches up for Mickey’s mask as if he’s giving Mickey a chance to bat his hands away. “I’m not a snitch.”
Mickey grinds down, feels something very large and makes a decision - he lets the guy pull the mask off.
“Oh.” The guy says, smirking slightly as he sees Mickey’s sweaty face. “Hi.”
“Man, you are fucked up getting all horny like this.”
The guy moves his hips ever so slightly, eyes focused on Mickey’s lips, “Maybe, but I guess that makes you fucked up too. Feel like showing me just how fucked you are?”
———
The next day, Mickey goes back to the South Side. He didn’t get his usual haul but he did get some spectacularly kinky sex, a phone number and the promise of another hookup…..

During his club days, when he was always allowing himself to be whisked away in random hotels for nights on end with strange older men, he’d always liked when they’d get the rooms with the huge windows, so afterwards in the middle of the night Ian could slip out of the bed and stare down at the city for hours. While the view had always been entrancing, Ian almost grows sick from the memories - still fresh and visceral, like an open wound inside his head - of just how suffocatingly lonely it’d felt. He’d felt so distanced from real people, like he was being allowed to look at a world he was no longer able to touch.

Really enjoyed this canon divergent fic by @spinelessfromthestart - great characterisations and dynamics between the characters. It’s a Gallavich story but also a Gallagher family story and it captures the ‘Shameless’ vibe really well. 💖💖💖💖💖
