C. fleundii, E.coli, S. marcescens and E. aerogenes in EMB agar (Eosin-Methylene Blue)
This is an agar used to differentiate bacteria which ferment lactose/sucrose (a type of sugar) from those that do not. Bacteria who are strong lactose fermentors turn quite the lovely metallic green you see in the picture, those that still ferment lactose can turn a purple color while those that don’t remain colorless.
