     The Swaggerhill Shipbuilding Industry has been booming lately. We have created durable vessels out of sturdy and impeccable lumber. The ships have hulls made from Oak timber. The spars and masts are produced from tall pines. Each vessel has the finest woven sails that can withstand the storms at sea. Swaggerhill Ships will be used in the Triangle Trade. This is truly monumental for the family business. Molasses from the Caribbean is brought over to into New England and turned into rum. The exquisite rum is brought over into Africa and traded for slaves. New England is tremendously continuing to thrive.

 Dear Matthew Herschel Swaggerhill, your ship company has been the main talk in New York. Many have recommended me to purchase one of your luxuries ships for my voyage. I definitely would say your ships are splendid and absolutely gorgeous for what any human eye can see. Many shipbuilders from New York has given good reviews to your company  (New York is one of the best shipbuilder colony, you are definitely one of the celebrities in the upper east side). Many other builders are absolutely jealous of everything you produce. One of my dear friends named, Fredryck Filbert, is dying to know how do you make the wood so sleek and perfect looking. 

Sadly with the many recommendations given by my close friends, I have not bought one of your ships for myself. But I have bought one for my dear niece who lives's in the motherland. I chose the ship called 'EVATHEBRAVA' because it's absolutely luxurious and I actually renamed it into the 'Yacht of Eva'.

Well, know I must go for I am heading to the spice islands but if I ever find signal I will repost on your wall.  But I also recommend you to come visit New York and maybe move to the Upper East Side where many shipbuilders live today.

Dear Readers, I will be away on my first voyage around the globe to trade my goods. First most, I will be visiting my family in the motherland then I will go to the Indies for silk. Afterward, I will go visit New Spain and other colonies along the way to New York. With all the trips I have planned, I might not find any service in the open sea. Meaning I will not be posting for another 1 to 2 years (or never if I die along the way). But I hope I see some of you guys along the way. Goodbye!

Update to my Reader!

Dear Readers, if you haven’t seen me downtown I was probably at home planning to purchase a ship for trading. I plan to trade some of my crops that I have produced because of most of the crops, like corn and wheat, having been surpluses to me. Besides, that’s why New York is called the breadbasket colony because of me producing all the wheat to make oatmeal for all of you guys. If you haven’t been updated I made a company called Quaker Oatmeal for all the fans who favor the taste of oats. Anyways, with buying a ship, I still need to give some of my goods to the motherland. Then I plan to trade those goods for the money from the rich in Europe. With trading and buying a ship, I also purchased another 10 acres of land for growing wheat and corn. I also bought the land from a neighbor of mine, which live’s in Connecticut and only comes to inspect the people who work for him. But with having more land, I need more indentured servants but I plan to buy some slaves (still a plan, though). So, I need some advice from you readers, having indentured servants or slaves would be better or make more money? (PLEASE COMMENT IN THE “ASK ME ANYTHING” BOX)

In Need of a Wife! Help?

  Dear readers, I have to admit something that I have been keeping inside my heart because of pride and dignity. 55 is the age that is terrible to not have a wife or children. Every day going downtown I see married women with 5 or 6 children around them and I think, their father is probably proud of having so many kids. I just a handsome, rich, and good-looking man walking so lonely with no women besides me is definitely a struggle. I see my friends having their wife around them and their 6 children playing and hunting makes me so sad that I don’t have a family of my own. Some friends have put me blind date’s with others but in the end, all they want is my money not for my looks. I just don’t understand, don’t women love me? With praying to God and believing him, I have hope that my wife is out in the world somewhere. If you know someone that is available please comment. PLEASE!

Good or Bad?

Blog: January 19 

Dear Readers, I heard there was an opportunity to run for governor but that chance was taken away because Our Majesty has chosen one for us. His name is apparently, Lord Cornbury, who is a cousin of our Queen Anne. I also heard he was the governor of New Jersey, our neighbor colony,  and rumor has been going around that he is bad. Some have said he dresses like women and others say that isn’t true. Many of my friends who live in New Jersey has said that he is always drunk and is an embezzler. Others have said, he is a grafter, spendthrift, a religious bigot, vain fool, and other bad things I should not mention. I have also seen some portraits of him, and he definitely looks like a fool and someone who is mad. So readers, please comment if you believe this rumor is true or fake on  New York’s new governor.

BEER!

BLOG: January 4

 Dear readers, today has been such a relaxing day with me going downtown and doing some business deals with some other merchants. Besides, I’m trying to learn the ways of trading in New York, but I saw a lot of fur from beavers being traded. That isn’t what I really wanted to talk about, I wanted to talk about the crisis living in New York. Which is the water, all the water in New York is polluted with all type of nasty stuff and you definitely do not want to know what’s in it. With being a farmer and finding clean water is definitely difficult but it’s a bonus because it helps with fertilizing the crops especially the wheat I make for the oatmeals. Not having water to drink, all we do is drink beer. Every day for 7 days of the week and the 24 hours in the day I would always drink beer. It tastes better than water and it has more flavor but I get drunk every day. My friends and I would always go to the pub and drink 5 to 10 glasses of beer and at the 6th glass, there’s usually always going to be a fight. Most of the times its men not getting along because of business the other times it’s about a woman. Having no water around is a blessing because beer is what keeps us alive.

Word of advice: Do not drink over 10 glasses of beer at once.

Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! My name is Meriweather Quaker, I live in the lovely colony, New York. I found this website online and I figured it was like Facebook but better. I started this blog to give the insight of how living in the middle colonies was. Before I get off subject, I should talk about me and how my life is great compared to everyone else.

You already know my name but you do not know who I really am. I come from a long generation of farmers meaning my father farmed and his father and his father, but you get the point. But I also plan to be a merchant, but I am not sure if it’s a good idea. You guys should comment if I should be a merchant and why would it be good?  I’m also at the right age of 55, not having children yet but I am single and ready to mingle. Besides that, I grow wheat and make oats for my family and I am starting a business called Quaker Oats. Which I will be producing oatmeals for others.  The Quaker family has been a part of Quaker religion meaning I’m a Quaker too. If you have more questions about me, please ask.
