hello hello, latest cds. been a while! i was on vacation and haven’t felt like posting.
left to right, top to bottom:
U - GWAVE superfeature’s vol.4 mighty love
U - ULTRA☆U2
U - GWAVE superfeature’s vol.2 ultra:u
albatrosicks - paramount fever
おでんぱ☆スタジオ - らぶでんぱ
ねるげ - ribbon
so i also ordered separately my absolute holy grail cd (effy sound team’s ‘atmosphere’) but it was cancelled by surugaya out of nowhere with no explanation. perhaps it’s to do with the tariffs. if it’s not resolved and i don’t get my hands on that cd i’ll be very upset tyvm! that was 40 bucks and a year and a half of waiting!
K.M.E. - 久遠の絆 Arrange Album -玲瓏- (Kuon no Kizuna Arrange Album -Reirou-) [1999]
genres: electronic, classical, new age find: youtube
i posted this album a while ago but i wanted to talk about it more.
this album arranges the soundtrack from the visual novel kuon no kizuna written by the talented saga kazami. it's the only full length kuon no kizuna arrange album that i know of. it does the original soundtrack justice, for sure. kaz is a great arranger and it's always a treat to see him around.
this album thrives in its more emotional tracks than its upbeat ones, but does a wonderful job arranging all of its songs while still maintaining the feelings of the originals nonetheless. track 9, 絆 (kizuna), is one of my favorite doujin arrange songs ever. it fills me with this indescribable feeling of sadness and nostalgia for something i never experienced. it's cinematic and kind of cheesy, but in an extremely sincere way, as with most doujin arrange music from this time, and as with the rest of this album. i've been searching for another doujin song that makes me feel the way 絆 does ever since i heard it, but haven't found anything.
this album is super underrated. i always love to hear arrange albums of less common media. i also love saga kazami's work anyway, so this album really is a treat.
APPLE project - with me: Vocal Collection from Stay. [2002]
genre: j-pop find: youtube
apple project is absolutely one of my favorite doujin circles. they do games as well as music, this album being a collection of vocal songs from their visual novel fangame of ONE, called Stay. fragments of memories. these songs aren't arrangements like most of the soundtrack for Stay is. here, we have talented composers like Yet11, ぱきら, and Manack, as well as vocalist REM, who is one of my favorite doujin vocalists. they all make a great team. i'm never let down by their work.
the album itself is really nice, especially all together as a whole experience. the sound of the music which is nice and upbeat contrasts with the lyrics. the lyrics are one of my favorite parts of this. apparently they pertain to something that happens at the end of ONE, and for what their fangame does with what happens after that ending. they're all about love and loss, and well. staying. lol.
i'm particularly fond of 遠いまなざし and Eternal Melody, but every song on this album gets super stuck in my head. it's not new or inventive, but it's a lovely set of songs for sure.
due to popular request (one person), here are my other 3 mixtapes. sorry to subject you to my horrible handwriting in both english and japanese.
(also the tiny holes in my sheets are from my cat's claws don't question it!!!)
top: 冬休み -doujin vocal mixtape- left: denpa mixtape right: doujin arrange mixtape
tracklists and more info below the cut. if you want me to make a downloadable playlist for one of them, let me know and i'll do it.
hellooo look at this mixtape i put together.
i compiled some of my favorite U songs and burned them to a cd-r for funsies. this is my 4th mixtape, and my 2nd one with actual art. i took some art from the booklet of one of her cds, cropped it out, and removed the background. unfortunately i don't have a color printer and i suck at using scissors so it's a little janky but i'm happy with it. it's my best-looking one so far so it's the only one i've posted.
i've made 3 others: a denpa mixtape, a doujin vocal mixtape, and an instrumental doujin arrange mixtape. the first 2 have just handwritten tracklists on the front but the last one does have art and a back cover. it looks even more janky than this one.
i don't have access to photoshop or any other programs anymore (as i'm out of school), so i had to use photopea (shiver). the only thing worse than any adobe product is photopea.... and that's saying something. god i regret doing graphics in school
anyways if you guys are interested in seeing my other mixtapes let me know and i'll make a dedicated post!
まめいちご (mameichigo) - らびっと☆まじっく
おでんぱ☆スタジオ (Odenpa Studio) - らぶでんぱ (Love Denpa) [2012]
find: youtube genres: denpa, akishibu-kei
my favorite odenpa studio album (although i haven't heard many.)
it has an absolutely wonderful akishibu-kei influence on it, which is something that should definitely be done more often. it's a very sweet-sounding album, with even higher pitched vocals than usual. as with a lot of odenpa studio, the topics of the lyrics are questionable, but that's just denpa. i tend to avoid overly onii-chan stuff because it makes me cringe, but the musicality of this outweighs the stuff like that.
overall, it's a solid and consistent album that i often revisit when i'm looking for some mindless cuteness. it's good for people already into denpa.
oops this is turning into a denpa blog... i'll post something else next
Dear Chocolat (IOSYS) - Milk (2008)
find: youtube (missing off vocal vers) genres: j-pop, synthpop, denpa
i'm sorry in advance about this cover art. it's frosting, i swear.
Dear Chocolat is a little unit consisting of IOSYS members Arima.Y and Ayu. they only released a few albums, as far as i know.
this is quite a nice denpa-tinged synthpoppy j-pop album. the instrumentals are very nice and energetic and danceable, with some great melodies. there are some eurobeat elements, as well as a bitpop song which is my favorite. ayu sings a bit lower than she normally does (on 3 of the songs at least) which is nice to hear.
lyrics-wise, this is incredibly questionable. my favorite track, 未成年と知りながら, especially so. i mean... that title. the lyrics. well, guess who wrote it? yoshimi youno! i swear someone needs to check that guy's hard drive. anyway, this is an awesome classic-sounding bitpop denpa song. whenever i hear it i feel tempted to put it on loop.
this album is definitely a grower. i recommend checking it out. there are a lot of hidden gems in IOSYS' discography.
あぃ☆どるちぇ (Ai☆Dolce) - 1じかんめっ!(1-Jikanme!) [2016]
genre: denpa find: youtube
i've been obsessed with this album since the first time i heard it. the concept is famous classical songs turned into denpa. and boy did they pull it off. it's not a satirical album at all. they got real violins and everything! every single song is catchy, energetic, and fun. it's a real high quality piece of work.
i love the lyrics, too. a lot of denpa albums are about love (or one's panties or older brother), and while this does have a bit of that, most of the lyrics are just silly. the whole album is about school and the friendship between these two girls. for example, track 1 is them getting into an argument, track 4 is about eating your bento before lunchtime, and track 5 is about studying to get 100s on tests.
this is overall just a fantastic album that more denpa fans should hear. it's a shame these guys never did another album!
new cds!
33.turbo - ニャン☆パラ
あぃ☆どるちぇ - 1じかんめっ!
effy sound team - pure white (other edition)
ok so i’m very confused about this other edition of pure white. i assumed it was another reprint but it says est-000 as the cat num, not including a P or R marking it as a reprint. maybe it’s the original copy? however, it’s extremely vibrant in color and feels brand new even though it’d be from 1998.
effy sound team’s archiving online is terrible due to a lot of reprints and different cover arts and their site isn’t really archived much before 2000 soooo….
still extremely happy to have the cd for sure lol
new cds!!!

do you like haruko momoi?
hi!
i haven't heard too much from her but so far yes. i love her album ファミソン8BIT. i also love the song she produced for perfume, アキハバラブ.
if you like her, let me know which album/song you think is her best and i'll try and check it out!
AC94 - Promenade [2000]
genre: electronic find: doujinstyle
this is a really fun and silly album, not a single bad song on it. some great arrangers on this, too.
i wasn't able to listen to it for a while because i couldn't find it, and honestly i thought the cover art was ugly lol. but definitely give this a chance, it's nice and upbeat background music.
夜の風 (Gale in Night) - 夜の風 (Yoru no Kaze) [2000]
genre: electronic, downtempo
find: youtube
hi it's me.
this is a pretty nice short kizuato arrange album. the whole theme is relaxing arrangements, and CESSA and Hud-Pyon did a great job. this does feature 3 versions of the same song, 千鶴, though. idk guys, i think CESSA really likes chizuru. can't be sure though.
gale in night doesn't have many full albums. i've heard this and their third album, and this is better imo. i haven't been assed to look for their 2nd.
i'm going to start adding the circles' names as tags in case someone wants to search for all my posts about them.
U - GWAVE SuperFeature's vol.2 Ultra:U [2005]
genres: denpa, pop rock, j-pop, pop punk
find: youtube
my absolute favorite U album. this one is so special!
it’s a little rough around the edges, including with her vocals, but that’s probably because it’s her first album. then again, it suits the style. this one is much more rock-oriented than her other albums. i adore the pop punk elements, especially in songs like あなたのロケットで. masaya koike’s random guitar solos actually work here. and as always, every song is incredibly catchy and fun to sing along to.
the only song i don’t love is the last one, Ciao, but even that’s not too bad.
at first, i didn’t love this album, but it grew on me quickly. it’s just so fun and pretty unique. i was surprised when i learned this was made in 2005.
U should be more acknowledged by denpa fans, especially in the west. everyone’s all toromi toromi toromi. she’s a great artist as well, but U deserves to be in the spotlight too.
