Lucas was knee deep in work. He typed away at his computer busily as he flipped through legal notebook after legal notebook full of his studies. Lucas was always super focused when he started writing, this book was really his passion. As his hands furiously typed he could hear footsteps moving towards him. At first he thought they might pass and move on to a different office but it soon became very apparent that they were headed his way. As the the footsteps entered the room he looked up, “Listen I’m not trying t be rude but I am really busy so could you just… keep it brief?

“Lucas, my man!” Morris invited himself into the office, taking his notice to leave as a grand gesture of welcome. “I dunno about you, but I missed seeing your face in the morning runs. How you been?”

“I agree, but don’t make me think of sweet potato fries. Otherwise I’ll get hungry too.” She often joked, after all, that Roscoe inherited his never ending hunger from her. “Well, thank you. He usually is much more of a gentleman than he is today.” She said almost at the same time Roscoe barked playfully. She looked down and shushed him, while also trying to stifle a laugh.

“Hey, help yourself, you bottomless pit of a stomach.” Morris grinned, extending his offer to her before bending down to pet the dog. “Furry lil bastard, aren’t ya? We should go chase those damn birds, that sounds like fun, doesn’t it?”

“Annora, my fiery princess...I may have grown in my mortal shell, but my spirit is still a five year old child who just wants to enter the deep end of the public pool.” Morris chuckled, hand on his chest as the wave of cheerfulness took him by amusement. “Oh, I’m just heading over to Kirenza’s bar. See if she’s got any work for me. Wanna join me for an early round of whatever she’s making?”

When they visited the park, Danielle rarely kept Roscoe on a leash. He was obedient enough to not wander too far from her sight and he wasn’t rebellious. He was often hungry, though. That day, when he smelled food, he immediately ran towards it. “Roscoe!” Danielle exclaimed, when she finally caught up with him. He was sitting at someone’s feet, waiting for food to be given to him. She took the dog in her arms and shot an apologetic look to the other person. “I’m so sorry about him.”

“Hey, he can’t help it. Sweet potato fries are freaking delicious!” With his affinity for canines, Morris often made excuses for their dogs’ attractions to him. And hey, fries are delicious. “What a gentlemanly name, Roscoe.”
