Ok so,, Osric Chao is actually the perfect faceclaim for Quincy wow
Bruh I saw a post saying that Steve protesting unjust laws wasn’t lawful good and BUDDY I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU
That’s the DEFINITION of lawful good
Steve believes in the power of law to do good, but only if the law isn’t evil. Blind belief in the law is lawful NEUTRAL not lawful GOOD because lawful neutral doesn’t care about the morality of the law, it only cares that the law is just and right, even if it’s not necessarily good.
Meanwhile lawful good means you believe strongly that laws ARE good and if they aren’t, they should be changed in order to BE good.
since my brain is like CONSUMED with GO rn im gonna add some GO AU rene/will headcanons here
just because i can so here goes:
- sometime around the 5th century BC, when the gate that Will guarded was still a grassy hillside, the sentinel angel befriended a talking crow. The crow was a particularly well-read crow, as far as crows went, and often perched on the tree whose branches stretched up into the sky as a ladder up to Heaven
- Angels, like most immortal beings, are terrible at keeping track of time, so it really wasn’t until humans began appearing on nearby hillsides that Will realized that the crow should have died several centuries ago. At that point, the crow revealed that it was, in fact, a he, and was an immortal, much like Will. Will, who hadn’t seen other immortals besides angels and the odd demon, was very glad that a seemingly neutral party had come along and was immortal, like him, and could keep him company in an innocuous way
- The centuries passed, and the two stayed friends. The crow would bring Will news about the outside world, and Will would listen to his stories and his woes.
- The crow many very unlikely crow-like woes, including decrying the injustices that the Lord allowed humans to commit. Will very earnestly encouraged the crow to trust in the Divine Plan and to not question it, as questioning it wouldn’t allow the crow to go to crow Heaven. The crow just laughed and changed the subject
- it wasn’t until the tree was replaced by an inn (which Will occupied the attic of), when Will first wondered if the crow had a more human-looking form. After all, angels generally did appear rather human-shaped (at least, those of the lowest choir of angels did). He also showed the crow his wings (upon the crow’s request). Of course, being a sentinel allowed for very limited wing grooming practices, and Will’s wings were dreadfully out of shape as far as wings went. The crow insisted on attempting to groom his wings, which led to a lot of accidental almost-squishings. That was the point where Will very gently asked if the crow had a larger form, since it would be easier for both of them
- The crow refused at first, but after he was almost swatted across the room for the fifth time in as many minutes, he relented, but insisted that Will close his eyes and not look back at him. “This form is hideous,” the crow claimed, “And I am very bashful.” As a being capable of great faith, Will saw no cause for concern and kept his eyes forward, allowing the crow to shift around behind him. Based on the sounds, it sounded like the crow was more or less human shaped, with curious hands that felt a bit like they had claws at the ends of them. They were cold, and a little scaly, but not altogether unpleasant.
- Wing grooming soon became a regular fixture in their routine. Every little while, the crow would return and groom the angel’s wings, and the two would talk about the goings on of the world around them.
- “Books,” the crow said one day, “Maybe I should bring you books. Learn to read so I don’t need to run my mouth for hours on end each time.” Will, of course, hadn’t had a chance to learn languages other than the universal one of heavenly beings (that was, coincidentally, shared with hellish ones). The books were very welcome, even more so when the inn briefly became a library, and the attic a storage for unwanted books.
- Around the 1600s, the appearance of the gate changed once again. It became a simple alleyway to one side of a bustling street, and that is how it would remain until Armageddon, although the buildings on either side would become taller and taller as the years went by.
- The crow, in fact, had been the one to bring news of Armageddon to the angel. The crow seemed very worried and fretful. ‘Crows,’ he had explained when Will asked, ‘Won’t survive Armageddon, much like the rest of life on Earth, and possibly that of Heaven and Hell’ (the crow was surprisingly well versed in the goings on of ethereal and occult beings, although Will had long since ceased to be surprised, since he figured that non-affiliated immortal beings probably had some kind of coalition on their own that kept track of what Heaven and Hell were up to).
- The crow said a lot of ominous things over the next ten years. “If Armageddon happens, I won’t be here to talk to you anymore.” “I’d offer to see you on the other side, but I don’t think there will be any more sides to go to after this, since one side is supposed to win for the rest of eternity.” “It’s rather sad, don’t you think, to try and eradicate the side that defines who you are, as the other?” Will stalwartly refused to question it, all the way up until he was mere days away from being recalled to Heaven.
- Seemingly aware of the fact that the forces of Heaven and Hell were rallying for war, the crow appeared for one last time. “I’m not going to be able to come back after this,” he cawed as mournfully as a crow could caw. “What if I were to bring you with me?” Will asked, a bright idea forming in his mind for the first time in a few centuries. “I’m sure the Heavenly Host would make an exception for one non-affiliated immortal.” The crow laughed. “Actually,” he admitted, “I need to tell you something. I haven’t been completely truthful this whole time.” “You haven’t? Don’t tell me that ice cream was a lie all along,” Will half joked, although he was very serious that if ice cream was a lie, he would be greatly disappointed. “No, not ice cream,” the crow rolled his eyes, “I mean about me. I’m not really a non-affiliated immortal.” For the first time in all the years they had known each other, the crow showed Will his true form. A demon. A well-dressed, neat-looking demon with scaly hands and talons for fingernails. A demon with sharp teeth and sharper blue eyes, and the very sharpest haircut.
- “You’re a demon!” Will cried out, manifesting his helm from the ether (the helm was a golden thing, complete with little wings on the side. Heaven-issued, that helm). “How could you? I thought we were friends!” The demon spread his hands to try and placate the angel. “We were,” he said very softly. “I wanted to be your friend, so I didn’t tell you. But now I think I owe you the truth. I am the demon Raum, commander of thirty legions of demons and an Earl of Hell. But I am also Rene, and I am also ‘the crow’. And I am also your friend. If I were truly to take advantage of you, I would have readily accepted your offer to bring me to Heaven, and brought along a few ‘friends’ to boot. I could have easily invaded heaven with the other demons--but I didn’t. Because... Well because I was happy to just be ‘the crow’ with you. You were kind to me, and I tried, in turn, to be kind to you. Please, Will. Understand that. And please, I just wanted to say a last goodbye to you.”
- Will sat stock still through the demon’s speech. Raum, the demon. It wasn’t so much that the demon’s words struck him, it was his appearance. The demon was hopelessly familiar, in the same way that a tune stuck in his head might be familiar but any recognition or name was beyond his reach. Something, deep down, told him that they knew each other before the Fall. Something told Will that they had been close before, and were close now. But they were on opposite sides. “Goodbye, then,” he heard himself saying. “I won’t be seeing you again, because, well, we’re going to win. And all the demons will die. So please--leave before I must smite you--or I may get in big trouble with my boss.” And so, the demon left.
And the rest uhh i haven’t thought about yet but yes!! thought dump that turned a little dialogue-y sorta
After months of inactivity I return with some speculation about tattoos that will might get Like idk if it's a tradition or not but he'd probably get tattoos while he was unwillingly drafted into the British army Like be peer pressured into getting them He'd probably get one in prison of Maddie bc I like angst And ofc a multitude of prison tattoos Idk if there are like special ones overseas though Like some tattoos have symbolism like "a teardrop means you've killed someone before" etc But then again it's t/f2 so do I really have to be /that/ accurate? Probably not I mean the search term would be incredibly specific lol like "prison tattoos from southern France in the 1950s" and more likely than not it's not gonna turn up anything Maybe he just uses American ones But even then... It could be difficult... Ugh
sometimes i get emotional thinking about how rene and will actually have surprisingly similar aesthetics
they both like nighttime, but rene prefers fall nights while will prefers late summer nights
they both like starry nights with clear skies, but will prefers bright blue daytime skies while rene prefers it to be overcast and a little chilly (aka shorts weather vs sweater weather)
they often have a lot of differences but they have a lot of similarities too
they can enjoy things together but also enjoy things separately
i feel like when they do get together they’re at first very like All Over Each Other but they eventually tone it down and theyre comfortable with each other being off on their own, even though they do check in with each other at like checkpoint times (like leaving someplace or going someplace etc, which is made more convenient by modern au) and typically they’re comfortable telling each other where they’re going etc
i just
want them to have a healthy relationship
i know it’s too perfect and idealized and w/e
but
i want this
i worked hard on this i deserve it
I suddenly had the great realization that I can and should have a vampire AU where for once René's not the vampire instead it's the least likely vampire candidate (well least likely based on appearances) Will Like It would probably be one of those "vampires are pretty normal to meet so there are like agencies and clinics and other services just for vampires" kind of AUs and yes. I /was/ reading st/ucky vampire AU fics don't @ me they just give me hardcore Rene/Will vibes ok Yeah anyways I just wanted to say that it's the funniest thing when Will and Rene go out bc people automatically assume the angry goth is the vampire when in reality it's the sunshine dad And will would most likely be a recently turned vampire I break tropes but not that much ok I'm still not sure how they'd meet but it'd happen somehow, so we can add this to the list of 50000000000 AUs I have
every time i think about rene and will’s clothing choices i burst out laughing bc like
rene wears very practical underwear yknow like he has black/dark grey briefs, like those are just normal and nice
will on the other hand he goes with tightie whities like
i can’t even splell that is that even spelled correctly??
anyways it’s fuckin
he’s fucking valid anyways i love him
Did they ever reveal how Captain America was thawed? Because I’m picturing a bunch of Shield agents with hair dryers and I don’t think that’s quite right.
I don’t think they’d want to microwave him so hair dryer is really the only remaining option. That’s how I’d do it.
badscienceshenanigans
Do you have a sciency way to accomplish this task?
Well, let’s see. To thaw a 1.5 metric ton colossal squid frozen in a block of ice (the only way the fishermen who trawled the thing in could bring it home before it went bad), scientists put it in a big vat of brine just above 0 Celsius/32F. That allowed the fresh water to melt while still keeping the squid as cold as possible. Essential, since for a giant corpse with tentacles, certain parts are bound to thaw days before others and could become quite rotten before the rest comes out of the ice block if you’re not careful. HOWEVER Captain America was still alive, which complicates things. On the other hand, even supersoldiers are significantly smaller than this record-setting colossal squid. This helps thaw logistics somewhat. Much like the squid, Captain America would have to be kept at a consistent temperature throughout his body in order to be thawed successfully. If his extremities were to thaw more than a minute or two before his heart and lungs were thawed and reactivated, the tissue wouldn’t have any oxygen and would quickly die. What a shame to bring back Steve Rogers only to have him be the poster boy for gangrene. Brain tissue becoming metabolically active before the cardiovascular system began functioning would be even more disastrous— possible permanent brain damage. And the GH-325 project was born To keep his temperature as equal as possible across his entire body, something like the squid brine or (more likely) an antifreeze solution would be used. Immerse the Capsicle in brine until the entire unit is within a degree or two of thawing* to begin Phase II. *Note that due to presence of salts, fats, protein, etc, the freezing point of meat is actually 28-29F. Apologies to non-US readers, sadly I only work with American meat and don’t know the freezing point of corpses/beef in Sane Country Units. That being said, Steve Rogers is 100% American meat. Fahrenheit shall be considered the appropriate unit for this project. At the thawing point, it’s important to consider life support functions. I don’t know how fast human tissue uses up oxygen at refrigerator-range temperatures, but I’m going to assume that the sooner you have oxygen circulating the better. A heart-lung machine would be needed to oxygenate and move the blood around for a while before the heart gets started back up. Meanwhile, because Captain America’s last un-frozen moments were spent deep underwater, there may be decompression issues at play. Whatever gas bubbles may have been present in his tissue are currently frozen in place, but when he thaws they can move about and create embolisms —> the bends. Better put him in a hyperbaric chamber just in case. Since Captain America regained consciousness in a recovery room rather than during the thaw process, it may be safe to assume that he was sedated and/or placed in a drug-induced coma during thaw. So at this point we’ve got a giant bathtub of brine, a heart-lung machine, oxygen canisters, lots of drugs, plus all the necessary monitoring equipment all inside a hyperbaric chamber. After thawing the antifreeze bath could be replaced with gradually warming water or saline solution in order to bring Captain America back up to normal body temperature. So many machines! This is US medicine at its finest. Forced warm air blowers (hairdryers) are needed after Captain America is fully thawed, organ systems are reactivated, and he is brought back to normal body temperature. At this point it becomes necessary to dry and style Captain America and put him in period-appropriate jammies to sleep it off in a vintage hospital room. If you think hearing the wrong baseball game tipped him off fast, you should see him wake up with bad hair.
THIS IS THE BEST POST IN THE HISTORY OF EVERYTHING.
That being said, Steve Rogers is 100% American meat. Fahrenheit shall be considered the appropriate unit for this project.
CANNOT STOP LAUGHING.
“Much like the squid, Captain America…” - a sentence I never thought I’d read
i had to write this down somewhere but okay so i had a great idea for a miraculous-sona
so like,,, the oriental dragon miraculous (obviously, bc i guess kwamis are based in ancient Chinese history or whatever) called Typhoon (also like obviously)
his special ability is monsoon
obviously
i don’t really know what it does yet
maybe it just summons a storm or something
idk how that would be useful but i guess thats what it does
the miraculous is stored in... im not totally sure yet but it’ll be made out of jade
the main colors will be like peacock colors, like green/blue etc
anyways that’s that now back to drawing my vilesona lol
one of the things my little brother and i do to each other is announce our presence by yelling HEWWO??? whenever we get home but. this has now caused our dad to also, upon getting home from work, throw the door open and yell. in the daddest voice possible. HEWWO???
You Canned These Worms. Now Lie In It
oh i finally figured out why lucifer is such a rene mood: the rock music
the guitars
the emphasis on being bad and devilish and sinners and whatever
yes that’s it
the only main difference is that at least lucifer has morals
Hot take though will is a jock with a hint of prep René's emo with a lot of prep They both like business casual :') or in René's case business formal but yknow
I think the reason why his aesthetics vary is bc he’s from before goth was a thing, bc goth is a product of the 80s and all that
Ok so for obvious Research Purposes I looked up goth culture I mean it's bc I've always described Rene has having a distinctive affinity for gothic things but apparently there are like a bajillion different subcategories within goth, like Victorian, "classic" (aka 80s), pastel, whatever He's definitely a vampire goth though like that's his aesthetic there He likes the mysterious and brooding look, plus formal wear and a nod to Victorian fashions Look I'm being serious ok like René's definitely got a thing for Victorian Gothic aesthetics although he also??? Likes the noir aesthetic Is there a way to mix the noir and Victorian goth aesthetics? Bc that's totally him I know that they're like distinctive western fashions that are literally a century apart but he likes his suits and he likes his Fancy Things Like red wine and roses whatnot I guess the best in between is vampires bc vampires have kinda??? Existed in every era????? Who knows All I know is he likes black and likes fancy things Will's a lot easier: think ex football suburban dad Socks and sandals included
Ok so I read a fic about Steve playing Cap as a persona and I thought that was really interesting like about how people outside of Steve's personal personal personal circle didn't understand that Steve and Cap are different and that Steve is cap but cap isn't Steve And it even touched on like roasting conservatives for thinking cap would be old fashioned When in reality Steve was always kinda ahead of his time So Yeah anyways I thought that was interesting but I wanted to interpret it in another way, like maybe an identity crisis kind of deal??? Like Steve at one point knowing where cap started and Steve ended, but not anymore because people keep thinking they're one and the same Which I can sorta relate to bc there's like... Several game faces I put on in different situations like outside I put on the quiet game face, online I put on the "I'll grit my teeth and smile through it" face, and to my family I put on my "I'm doing great don't worry about me" face. It's a lot of fucking faces. Oh and for the purposes of writing I put on the faces of different characters. At a certain point I'm not sure where these faces stop and my real self begins, and whether or not my real self even exists under all this bullshit. So yeah. Can RelateTM
