Masks
Conversations with him don't usually go any where, both of us, too afraid to put aside the mask. Both of us, too eager to look into others heart. So finally when I said let's enjoy the silence, he looks up into my eyes, breathing into my soul, opening up stained pages of books I keep locked into corners of my heart. Afraid, I succumb to verbal diarrhea and the mask is in it's place again. He slowly turns away, not looking at me again. Not without mask anyway.
