Reverie

Going, the snow becomes wind.

Passing, the wind becomes rain.

Cooling, the rain becomes sleet.

Freezing, the sleet becomes hail.

Softening, the hail becomes snow.—Snow.

Falling, it turns white.

From white to blue.

From blue to ash-grey, drifting like smoke.

Through clouds of leaden blue,

something descends.—A phantom.

A phantom indeed.

A trick of light

that shatters my heart

as it falls.

A voice once there,

a brightness once seen,

a dream remembered—

…a phantom.
