That day, Midorima had spoken to him much more than usual. It had been short / quick conversations / enough to make Kuroko feel that something different was happening that day. And he happened to be right. Clueless as to why he would want to see him specifically, Kuroko simply went to the agreed location after class and practice. He even followed his instructions: Not telling anyone that they were meeting later. They could have gone together, but the green-haired guy simply didn't want to.

The streets downtown were always busy, but it was easy to spot someone as tall as Midorima. The same could not be said of him, who went completely unnoticed among the crowd.

“Midorima-kun.” He called out to the tallest one, but even though he was right next to him, he didn't hear him. Kuroko had to resort to other methods, such as grabbing the sleeve of his Teiko jacket and pulling it twice to get his attention. "I'm here, you can stop looking for me."

He was definitely exaggerating by wearing those sunglasses, just to avoid being recognized at school and also to escape uncomfortable questions (frankly speaking, it’s not like anyone would even dare to approach him anyway). He checked the time, growing a bit impatient as Kuroko seemed to be taking his sweet time to arrive.

As if on cue, Midorima felt a tug on his jacket and turned around to see his companion. Finally. "I didn’t see you." Considering the little to no presence the other had, maybe he had already been there for a while and Midorima simply hadn’t noticed. Hm, whatever. "You are late." He huffed, suddenly feeling offended since he was the one who had invited (debatably) the other on this outing. "What took you so long?" Not that he really cared, but he supposed it was common courtesy to ask if there had been any delay Kuroko would like to share.

Well. That's a silly question! "I'm deserving of your affection because I'm a great friend and a delightful person! Also I drive you around for no benefit. So you can pay me in compliments!" Takao grins, slapping Midorima on the back. "Can I suggest something like: Takao, you are so funny and handsome, I can't live my life without you. Or, Takao, you are so amazing, I think about you at every hours of the day. You know, just some simple examples to ease into it." He can't wait for Oha Asa to push him into Midorima's arms someday so he can laugh in his face about it.

Once they've gotten comfortable at the table (and yes, Takao of couse washes his hands, who does Midorima think he is? Aomine?), Takao digs into his ramen, though he tries his best to keep the splash down so his friend doesn't complain. Still, it's ramen, so a little drop of broth here and there is unavoidable.

"More often?!" Takao gasps with feigned shock. "Does that mean you're having fun? With me?! I can die happy." With a soft laugh, he rolls his eyes. "Seriously, Shin-chan, I like hanging out with you. Anywhere you wanna go, I'll be there. If you want." A grin. "Maybe also if you don't want."

Midorima might be grumpy, but he's sweet in his own way. He looks out for Takao even if he wouldn't admit it verbally, and he's comfortable with Takao's presencen even if... he also wouldn't admit that verbally. Despite his exterior, and his difficulties expressing himself, Takao thinks he's actually quite kind.

"Die." Because, again, only in Takao's dreams would he say all of those things. A grumble was even heard coming out from his mouth when feeling that sudden slap on his back, but he will let it slide for now, since he's feeling so benevolent today (which is rare coming from him of all people).

As they were eating, and Midorima having to restrain himself from complaining since Takao was actually holding back from spilling more broth that necessary, hearing that gasp made the shooting guard rethink all of his life choices. "Yes, I said more often." If he has to repeat himself one more time he swears--

Contrary to his actions and words, he was quite mindful of a very few people. Takao being one of them to his dismay (it was still a good thing just don't mind his tsunderism). "I enjoy playing with you and also spend time with you outside of the court." So the sentiment was the same! This is a very rare moment, appreciate it, Takao. "You're getting broth all over you." By force of habit, he reached out to one of the napkins to hand it out to his companion, while looking away and still working on his own ramen.

“…” Wasn't it the same thing? “Well, don't be annoyed with me, Midorima-kun.” This guy. Anyways. It wasn't usual for Midorima to ask for his opinion on something like that, so it was better for him to shed some light on the matter.

A few thinking noises later... “My opinion…” Arms crossed, one hand on the chin. Tilting his head to one side and staring intently at the green-haired boy with glasses. He definitely had a princess-like air about him, but it was hard to pinpoint why. “Because you're very..." Pick your words wisely, Kuroko! "... picky?” Okay you tried.

No, it's clearly a different thing. Can't you see how relaxed this guy is being despite being called a 'princess'? You can at least give him some credit, since if he were angry, he'd be lashing out at Kuroko like he lashes out on Murasakibara. "I will try." Because the ambiguity of not knowing what was going through Kuroko's head was more annoying, but in the end, this was the same man Akashi had chosen to place his trust in.

And whatever Akashi said was always right. It didn't matter if it was a gamble.

Apparently, some gears were moving inside Kuroko's brain to provide an answer, and when the word 'picky' finally came out, Midorima stayed silent. Huh. "Hm." Yes, that's... Better than expected. At least an attempt was made; he'll let it slide for now. Can't you see how benevolent he is? More credit to him is due! "Fine, I will accept that."

"No, I don't see you laughing. I just wanted to try it out too, don't be mad with me" Although, rather than angry, the correct word would be grumpy. Everyone agrees that it was Kise-kun's fault? Yes? Perfect, let's continue. “Do you know why exactly he calls you princess?” Because he wasn't so sure why it was. It could be because, despite being very tall, he acted in a gentle and delicate manner. Or because he often needed help from someone else. Or because he was a rich kid?

"I am annoyed." Which was not that far from mad. Normally, he would either ignore it or lash out at the person who called him that. Kuroko didn't seem to have said it in a way that was... Mean? Derogatory? Yes, let's go with that. "I don't know what goes through that head of his to have him call me that."

Ignorance is bliss, as people say! "If you know why, I'm open to hear your opinion." Which was a statement, since he rarely talked with anyone other than Akashi-- Who was not present at the moment.

"Sorry" No, Kuroko wasn't sorry at all. "I just wanted to see for myself that it really bothers you when people call you princess" He didn't quite understand where that nickname came from, but he thought it was funny how Kise had come up with it and wanted to try it at least once. He will be able to sleep well tonight!

"I don't find it funny." That was a fact. "Do you see me laughing? I'm certainly not." Okay relax it's not a big deal it's just a nickname. It also bothered Midorima how he was not able to read Kuroko's mood on his face at all. Annoying, at least Kise was more expressive.

“…?” Takao blinks at him, too confused by the comment to even respond in a silly manner. “If you didn’t like Scorpios, you wouldn’t hang out with me. …Also, are you okay?” He’s never known Midorima to try to be funny (?) before. Hopefully it doesn’t happen again.

"Why is everyone suddenly SO interested in how the zodiac works?" Last he checked, everyone made fun of him for being so 'pressed' (quoting Kise) about the compatibilities between signs.

Whatever, he will just answer because he still has manners, not because he happened to study everyone's sign and knows more or less how it would go down, of course not. That also didn't mean he was happy about being forced to be included with those buffoons (minus Akashi). "I am not as accurate as Oha Asa", however, since he just so happened to hear that program every morning, most information was absorbed like a sponge. "Let's just go with the zodiacs and not go by names." Because God forbid someone happened to think he was rooting for a specific pairing or something like that. No need for misunderstandings! Nope.

Erika, by nature, was not usually a patient person. Sticking to her guns in this case was done more out of stubbornness than her own benefit. Unfortunately, she was a bullheaded person. It just showed in different ways. She watched Midorima's expression contort in what seemed like a brief stage of grief before settling for a non-answer to her question.

She rolled her eyes. "There's plenty of Scorpios in this room, I think you're just picky and want one particular Scorpio." Did she say that aloud? Oops!

In response to his jab at her games, Erika did the most mature and socially acceptable response.

She stuck her tongue out at him.

"Yeah yeah, I'm childishly wasting my time. But unfortunately, what wastes my time is now wasting your time, hah!" So she basically got zero answers from this man. It was inconsequential, since she should probably just focus on one thing at a time. Erika placed her hands on her hips, staring up at Midorima with a huff.

"Okay, forget the games. Let's go back a step." She pointed at him with a huff. "You. On a date with a Scorpio, what would you do? What restaurant would you take hi — THEM to? What about an amusement park date, that's a classic cliche."

She was supposed to be subtle about the whole thing, but maybe even being direct would just fly over Midorima's head. Clearly she had been worried for nothing. The whole point of her deciding to annoy Midorima at this point in time was because what Takao had told her was bothering her, and she wanted to get a read on Midorima's own stance in this whole thing. Which was counterproductive since the guy really was failing at social interaction. But Erika had dealt with worse (herself), so looks like he was going to be stuck here for a while!

"I am NOT picky, I just happen to get along with only one Scorpio in particular." That was his stupid excuse, because yes, he was aware what zodiac sign Takao was, as well as everybody in his family and the Miracles-- Okay, Erika was right, he was picky. Not his fault that people happened to be very difficult! (Midorima once again doesn't realize that the problem is him; that's how much his ego was inflated.)

Nothing could've prepared him for how Erika just so decided it was a great comeback to stick out his tongue at him! Rude?! "What?! That makes no sense!" He also didn't even fight this much with his little sister! Perhaps this is what his future is like when she grows up? No, thank you, she can stay young as she is right now!

"Why are you so interested in what I would do on a date? And a Scorpio, of them all?" Not like there were many options out there, since, as said so by Oha Asa itself, he was most compatible with Scorpios than any other of the horoscopes. "I am not interested in doing that kind of stuff." He had better stuff to do? To concentrate on? There was barely any time left to even think about dating and how a date should go like!

"You don't have to be my mother to shower me with affection, Shin-chan." With a teasing pout, he quickly glances behind him at Midorima sitting grumpily in the rickshaw, but he knows better than to take his eyes off the road for too long. "What if Oha Asa said your lucky item of the day was tucking in your best friend to sleep at night?" An absolutely absurd hypothetical.

Takao laughs. "Okay, okay, I'll try." It's hard for him not to talk, especially when he's with Midorima who doesn't fill the silence well, but for his beloved Princess Shin-chan (nickname relegated to his own mind only) he shall try to be polite. "Fine, your royal majesty. We're here."

There's a skip in his step when they enter the restaurant. Takao is happy to spend time with Midorima outside of practice, a rare treat for him. Most people would probably find having dinner with Midorima torturous actually, but for Takao every moment with him is precious. "I think I'll sit right next to you, Shin-chan," he teases, sliding into the booth on his left and batting his eyes. "After all, wouldn't it be much worse for a stranger to splash their ramen on you? At least you know me!"

Wait, he actually had a better comeback for this then decided to refrain from saying more since he would just shoot himself in the foot. Better shut up now that he can! "I don't think the Oha Asa would be so accurate for that description being the lucky item--" Oh, but then there was this sudden thought, because Midorima actually could not discard the fact that that horoscope happened to give some warnings here and there regarding how he should be around other zodiacs, as well as some advice. So maybe... What Takao just said... Was not that crazy after all--- "Shut up, Takao". Now he was going to dread the day that actually became true! How convenient -for Takao, not him-.

He followed suit after getting off the rickshaw, took a look at the inside. Definitely saw the appeal at the place and then looked back at Takao, who just happened to sit very comfortably, like he owned the place. A face of annoyance was then drawn on him, just the thought of someone spilling ramen all over him was uncomfortable by its own. He wanted to have faith in Takao that there would be some kind of self-restraint. "... Just sit on my right side. Make sure to also wash your hands." Because it was inconvenient to be bumping his elbow with the other person while eating, as well as needing to have manners.

After getting comfortable -and somehow not complaining about Takao sitting right next to him- they both finally got to sit down, ordered what they found most interesting. Midorima then took a quick look around the place, not too late, though he could definitely see some students here and there, as well as some groups of people who probably happened to come here to eat with fellow colleagues. Hm, maybe Kise was right by recommending this place. "We should come here more often." He will NOT elaborate on what he meant by that.

Erika held her smile in place, though it threatened to falter with each passing moment. Okay, maybe being vague (although meant to protect the sanctity of her friend's affection) wasn't going to help here. "Traditional, huh? Somehow, I'm not surprised." She pretended to think for a moment, and then put her fist against the palm of her hand in surprise. "Oh! If you're concerned about compatibility, then what about Scorpios? If a Leo won't do the trick."

She might as well entertain this Zodiac thing, even if it doesn't make complete sense to her. She's well acquainted with it based on Takao's stories and a few training camps done with Shuutoku, but... well, to each their own. No one could be relatively normal when they were a prodigy anyway. Hanging around Murasakibara for all this time, and interacting briefly with the other members of the Generation of Miracles, Erika could attest to that weirdness.

Well! There was no way she wasn't going to laugh at his facial expressions! Slapping a hand over her mouth to muffle those sounds, she looked away to give herself a breather. "What? You know otome games then, Shin — ahem, Midorima-kun?" Sporting a shit-eating grin on her face, she placed a hand on her hip. "Tell me then, what kind of plot should an otome game have?"

That was the effect Midorima had on people; it was weird someone could -or actually, someone had to be crazy enough to hold- a conversation with him for more than 2 sentences before giving up at all (again, a certain teammate of his being the exception to this. Wow, props to said person for that then!) "My parents do value for me to still uphold some traditions." They are not exactly very strict when it comes to Midorima's love life; as long as he could maintain good grades and still had an interest in his club activities, they would mostly let him be.

Okay, so maybe it was an exaggeration when he said that trivia about Leos. Not his fault that: 1. That darned horoscope was always right, and 2. The Leo was talking about was precisely a certain red-haired ace of Seiring High School who just happened to be acknowledged as a rival. At least after that match, he eventually grew out of it and just happened to respect him as well as the rest of the Miracles. No grudges, only the desire to strive for better / do better.

At the mention of Scorpios, he was suddenly reminded of earlier today during a podcast for Oha Asa's predictions of the day.

'Cancer! If you have a person who is a Scorpio, make sure to NOT separate from them! Otherwise, you will have a veeery terrible time! ☆'

He was suddenly so pissed that Takao was not here, he made a face of absolute annoyance. A 'stupid Takao' was muttered under his breath. "I think it's inconvenient that I don't have another person who is a Scorpio. I wouldn't be in this predicament if it were the case." No... Midorima... That's not what they asked you... Buddy...

He then froze at how much Erika tried to not make fun of him -well, she already was, Midorima was just too dumb to even notice her attempts- and even made another face at her. "How should I know what kind of plots otome games should have?!" Okay, relax, Midorima, it's not a big deal, just a silly game! You should not be this pressed! "Well, isn't romance the main attraction of an otome?" Last he checked, no deaths were involved! Or kidnappings! Or maybe he was just too vanilla to even grasp the idea that there was a bigger world outside? Who knows, definitely not him. "Games as such are a childish waste of time", is what he concludes.
