The idea of Stan and Kenny having empty/dead eyes but for completely different reasons: Stan having empty eyes because of his depression and cynicism: everything is so dull and empty, his eyes can no longer possibly see the world in the same alive way others do; and Kenny having dead eyes because of the many times he died in different ways. His eyes no longer hold any life in them, as despite how many times he may get revived, he will never get back the same light in his eyes that he used to have before being cursed with immortality
