"everyone should care about accessibility because most people will become disabled at some point in their life" is a logical argument and I understand its popularity
however, everyone should care about accessibility because disabled people are fellow human beings living in the same society as you who deserve the same rights as you
thank you good night

The Supreme Court must love private prisons, making homelessness a crime will cost us more money than simply helping them. Senseless unnecessary and expensive cruelty
The Naming of Cats
by T. S. Eliot
The Naming of Cats is a difficult matter, It isn’t just one of your holiday games; You may think at first I’m as mad as a hatter When I tell you, a cat must have THREE DIFFERENT NAMES. First of all, there’s the name that the family use daily, Such as Peter, Augustus, Alonzo or James, Such as Victor or Jonathan, George or Bill Bailey -- All of them sensible everyday names. There are fancier names if you think they sound sweeter, Some for the gentlemen, some for the dames: Such as Plato, Admetus, Electra, Demeter -- But all of them sensible everyday names. But I tell you, a cat needs a name that’s particular, A name that’s peculiar, and more dignified, Else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular, Or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride? Of names of this kind, I can give you a quorum, Such as Munkustrap, Quaxo, or Coricopat, Such as Bombalurina, or else Jellylorum -- Names that never belong to more than one cat. But above and beyond there’s still one name left over, And that is the name that you never will guess; The name that no human research can discover -- But THE CAT HIMSELF KNOWS, and will never confess. When you notice a cat in profound meditation, The reason, I tell you, is always the same: His mind is engaged in a rapt contemplation Of the thought, of the thought, of the thought of his name: His ineffable effable Effanineffable Deep and inscrutable singular Name.
"oh you have an allergy? sorry I harassed you for being a picky eater, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. it's good to know you're not actually a picky eater, I still get to harass those people"
"oh you have chronic pain? sorry I harassed you for being lazy, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. it's good to know you're not actually a lazy person, I still get to harass those people"
"oh you're autistic? sorry I harassed you for being weird, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. it's good to know you're not actually a weird person, I still get to harass those people"
"oh you're deaf? sorry I harassed you for ignoring me, I didn't realize you had a valid reason. you're just not actually a rude person, I still get to harass those people"
"man why does everything have to be a disorder now? I miss the old days when people would TAKE RESPONSIBILITY for being failures and it was socially exceptable for me to harass them, now I look like a jerk when I bully people for annoying me."
U.S. conservatives always talk about creating jobs but get SO MAD whenever anyone mentions banning prison labor like imagine the insane ammout of jobs that would be created literally overnight if companies in your country had to actually employ people instead of using slave labor from people that got caught with weed 10 years ago.
Daily reminder that the US, who love to scaremonger about "communist labour camps," have legal slave labour if you're in prison
look i know i am preaching to the choir as the saying goes but these 'water is wet' studies as i have seen them called is to prove a point not everyone believes.
like i have met people who think being suicidal is an inherent part of being trans and don't know how the numbers decrease from gender-affirming care HELL even didn't know the numbers dropped so much just from getting basic affirming care.
rarely is research done for a pointless reason, not everyone is gonna know this stuff even those who are involved in the LGBTQ+ community and spend time working with LGBTQ+ youth ( i don't work with youth per se but the volunteer work i do with pride has me in spaces with them).
like yes i know the joke here but i think this type of response isn't the best to research being done on our side.
Studies like this are being cited in court cases against gender-affirming care bans as we speak. Remember, the argument behind those laws is that gender-affirming care is harmful to children in the long term, both physically and psychologically, and that this justifies interfering in private citizens' healthcare decisions. We need as many studies as we can get showing the opposite if we want those laws to be struck down permanently.
NEVER laugh at something that formalized and catalogues a generally accepted fact in your community, because it could be a rock solid protection in the future.
I’m praying that everyday my intentions become clearer, and I touch people with more love & consideration rather than negativity. And that’s my own journey and work. I’m proud of it and I hope it continues. Everyday I want to be a better person than I was the day before.

Hi cutie
The main critique I've seen leveraged at Saltburn is that is falls short of its message of "eat the rich". But like...I never saw it as as that. Saltburn (to me) is steeped in a specifically English class context of nobility. There is this gap that cannot be bridged. Oliver throughout the movie has this deep frustration that he does not permanently belong in the sphere of Saltburn. Multiple people specifically goad him with this fact. Oliver is privileged by most people's standards, but it isn't enough. It's not eat the rich as they're all terrible its eat the rich as consuming them, absorbing them, licking the plate clean. The film came across as less a class critique and a hornier knives out but rather a psychological horror story about desire and not being able to have what you want the most. Oliver will never belong truly at Saltburn. Oliver despite worming his way into the family never has physical intimacy with Felix. It's not skewering the rich, it's commenting on the deep desire to inhabit their skin.
This letterboxd review of Saltburn is sending me 😭
sorry but if you actually genuinely believe that oliver did all of that because he hated felix and wanted his money like if you actually fell for his dramatic monologue and self-aggrandizing bullshit 1. u missed the entire point of the movie and 2. oliver quick would Fucking Kill You if u existed in this universe because CLEARLY u are proving urself to be credulous and easily manipulated
the category is: upper-middle class gremlins obsessed with status and power who end up with the inheritance of the wealthy family they’re obsessed with because no one perceived them as a threat (unlike the families in question they know how to work)
