perseus was quite well acquainted with people laughing at him ( whether maliciously or not ). people, in general, see him as a bit of a funny guy, and he was quite all right with it. he thinks it’s a combination of his oversharing and his syntax and his hair ( don’t question him ). but when he spoke and he said the most random shit that came to his head with little to no thought, it somehow usually wound up being a bit comical. and plus, his general phrases ‘ exhibit a: what’s up, boo ? ‘ were almost always on the just-not-quite irony side of things. ❝ no, i mean, i just don’t think about these things, you know ? i don’t, like, sit in my room going, ‘ you’re a second year in year second in your second year. ‘ so sometimes i forget for a minute. god, i go to all my classes. my dad would have my ass if i didn’t. ❞ and even though he’d rather not admit it to anyone ever in any manner, percy quite enjoyed school.
matty, quite frankly, unsettled percy. while true, unsettling him was not a difficult thing to do ( he was a bit more superstitious than the usual ). but she just seemed cool and confident and generally more competent than he could imagine being. she just seemed generally abler than he was; like she could use a butterfly knife, and knew the capital of peru ( lima ), and could recite all fifty american states. and that all piled together was unsettling to him. ❝ so you do have a killing mode ! noted & cataloged. oh, don’t be daft, blood is simple to get out. if it’s still wet, use cold water. if it’s dry, use toothpaste ! ❞ while this was easy percy knowledge, he was ignorant to the fact that a general on the street person might not know as much. ❝ matty jones, what a fun name ! nice to meet you too, but please, jeez, call my percy. perseus makes me sound so intense, you know ? ❞ he flashed her a wide grin.
“ ah i getcha then. your dad is really that strict, huh? ”
she could sort of understand the idea of going to class for her parents.
hell even though she wasn’t the biggest fan of school she did her work and
paid attention just so she didn’t disappoint her parents. some classes were
easier for her than others and some she actually enjoyed. it was just the
whole sitting still in a room while there was plenty of experiences going on
outside was what bugged her.
“ how do you know that works?”
just when she thought he couldn’t surprise and confuse her more he did.
she had to stop and blink a few times, his words catching her off guard. while
often times she bump into people that didn’t understand her humor, matty didn’t
expect him to actually have a solution to the blood joke. and then just like that he
went back to being adorable. she was starting to like him. at least he wasn’t
boring.
“ thanks. i like it too. better than my full first name. as long
as you keep calling me matty i’ll call you percy.”
