The princess truly found his reactions towards her boldness amusing, despite their current predicament. Emmalynn knew better than to let it on, but slightly, she had fun and she had it in a way that was rare. Still, her secret amusement lasted for very few moments before Henry’s words truly threw her off. Lynn’s eyes widened and she barely managed to get a hold of herself, for suddenly he had managed to beat her in her own game. Getting progressively more red, the princess shook her head in exasperation, teeth biting her lips harshly as a curl fell down and started to dance in front of her eyes. “I guess you’ll have to worry about the answer, then.” When, in truth, she very much knew that one rumor out of him could be the death of the princess’s reputation. Suddenly their banter had taken on an interesting but dangerous turn and Lynn wasn’t sure how she should feel. Fear briefly traveled through her body but she forced herself to push it away as her feet were making a step sideways away from him. Having the prince so close did something to her nerves and body and Emmalynn preferred to stay as far away as it was polite. “Forgive me again for the crude language, but children without love are bound to grow up unhappy and then make other people unhappy. This is something that I don’t want for my children, prince Henry. Because yes, while I do want them in the future, I also want to make my best to provide them with the best life and surroundings possible. That’s just my decision in life, which I know is quite unheard of in the land of unhappy marriages filled with infidelity. I would never want something like that and I’m fortunate enough to be able to chose my path. I would say that I wouldn’t judge you harshly for your worldview and I expect the same in return.”
⚔
“Like I stated before, I don’t care what the answer is. My apologies to you, Princess. I had no right to even inquire about that,” Henry affirmed, apologizing with a sincerity that couldn’t be denied. It was only his intention to encourage honest dialogue between them. However, there was an invisible line one needn’t cross, and perhaps he’d overstepped that boundary. Emmalynn thankfully didn’t seem as bothered by his candor as he would have expected. In many ways, she surprised him. Their proximity Henry hadn’t particularly noticed, but when she took a step away from him, light on his feet, he moved in a sort of tandem beside her, almost as if dancing, though careful to keep a respectable distance between them. “Forgive me for saying I don’t think you are crude in the slightest. What you are is open and honest, and for that, I admire you. Perhaps there are qualities I possess you may admire as well.” He spoke eloquently, hands behind his back, chin held high. Henry was a silent boaster, and he felt at this moment quite proud of himself. He was proud of the fact that this was going a lot better than he thought it would when they initially began their conversation. “I want to make myself perfectly clear about this with you – I would never want to end up in an unhappy or unhealthy union, and I wouldn’t want my wife – my queen – to be unhappy. Whoever ends up by my side, I will make it my duty first and foremost she is the happiest, and as long as I live, I will love and cherish her, until the last breath I take.” He cleared his throat. “Our worldviews, as it turns out, are not very different, I don’t believe. Not in the grand scheme of things.” A bright smile took shape on his face. “You were not exaggerating. These gardens are truly a marvel to behold.”

If looks could kill… “Wherever did you hear such a ridiculous rumour that I was in love with someone?” He restrained his cheeks from blushing due to how irritated he was, considering that it was suggested that he was in love with a man.
Henry would be dead. He’d only inquired, jesting, to see the look on his face, though judging by that look, he probably should have held his tongue. “People do enjoy trivial and not-so trivial conversation every now and then I’m afraid. It’s like they have nothing better to do, though I’m not so inclined to believe every rumor that goes around.”

She’d decided to leave her hair down, something she rarely did since it had gotten so long and when she saw how he was dressed was happy she’d with with a white lace blouse and a red pencil skirt and black belt. She wasn’t sure what to expect but as she stood in front of the carriage and then looked back at Cole with a smile on her face, she realized that there wasn’t a way that they both wouldn’t enjoy it.
It had been a strange afternoon and as she got ready, it was hard for her to believe that she was actually looking forward to her night with her betrothed. Of course, she’d messaged her father and told him how impressed she was with all of it and he couldn’t do anything but laugh since it was going exactly the way everyone described it. She let him know that she’d text him when she returned to the manor for the evening as well. Now, she was actually very happy she’d chosen this way to get married because for the first time with someone she felt like she could actually be herself.
As he reached out his hand, Kara took it to get in the carriage and she slid over leaving room for him. Once he was inside, her knees resting against his, she turned towards him and leaned in to press a soft kiss against his lips. “You look rather dashing as well, Cole.” When she pulled away from the chaste kiss, her cheeks were blushed. “I have a feeling this is going to be a wonderful night. How was your room?”
“Oh, why thank you,” he replied coyly. The kiss she gave to him took Cole by surprise. Nevertheless, he pressed his mouth back into hers, gently. It didn’t last long, but her lips, he noted, were quite soft. And she smelled amazing. He smiled at her. He didn’t feel the need to make a comment about it, because he could tell by the lovely color in her cheeks she was already somewhat flustered. There was also no need to discourage Kara from shying away from kissing him. Cole had promised himself he was going to be the perfect gentleman… and that he would do things a bit differently with her, than he would have with other girls. This was his future wife, and it only meant he wanted to make everything they shared with each other more special, including their first date.
“We share the same sentiment. It was nice, very cozy. It feels much like a home away from home. The bed is a lot more comfortable than mine,” he chuckled then motioned to the carriage. “Shall we?” Cole held out his hand, so she could use it to balance as she climbed inside. He didn’t know where they’d be whisked off to, but the excitement of not knowing what was in store for them certainly made their night more interesting. “I’ll be perfectly honest with you , I don’t think I’d come up with anything half as romantic if the planning had been left to me.”

There was just something so alluring about the situation she currently found herself in. Growing up, her parents (with her mother in particular), had warned her about what it could do to her reputation should she ever find herself in the company with a potential suitor unchaperoned. Yet here she was, in the mist of darkness, finding herself slowly giving into the temptation standing only a mere inch in front of herself. She swallowed thickly once he began to speak, eyes closing as if she was trying to memorize the sound of his voice, yet calm the effect he clearly had on her body. “I..” She hitched a breath again once she felt his breath on her neck, causing a set of goosebumps to stand up on her skin in excitement. “No..” She found herself whispering “I do not wish for you to stop..” She added, looking up at him and whatever shadow that stood before her. “But nobody can even know about this..”
Slowly, his lips inched closer and closer to her neck, but trying to exercise some self-control, he waited for her response. “No one will know,” Henry in a breath echoed, assuring her before lowering his lips against the smooth curve of her neck, brushing his lips ever so softly as he drew her closer into him. She smelled sweet and pure, and it made him somewhat dizzy. Tenderly, he kissed the same spot he’d chosen and hummed out of satisfaction. He dragged his lips to the other side of her neck, tending to the similar area of exposed skin, only this time, he pushed her back carefully onto the desk, sliding up the material of her dress along, and with his frame, forced apart her thighs as he stood between them. The kiss deepened, if for a moment before Henry could no longer resist it and moved his lips, devouring hers in a searing kiss. “Does this excite you?” he wondered, murmured words against her mouth. "And this-" his hands traveled down her body, fingers freely gliding up her thighs.

Emmalynn tried not to let her gaze fly towards him on more occasions than it was appropriate, focused more on the very random path before her, rather whatever righteous view he was describing with such passion right now. To be completely honest and probably a little bit of cold, the princess still wasn’t sure how much of prince Henry’s words she should take for truth. Her mind warned her not to trust him too quickly, becoming like every other foolish girl before her, for he truly had a way with words and overall presence; yet Lynn’s mind also almost felt like trusting in his speech, her head nodding only once. “Quite interesting words, prince Henry…”, the princess admitted, but didn’t clarify if she meant it in a good way or bad way. To be completely honest, it was probably somewhere in the middle and his next reaction was bound to determine where exactly Emmalynn’s opinion would stand. “I agree with what you’ve said but let’s imagine something for a second. Let’s say that… you’ve finally met the woman you’ve always envisioned next to you and you’re about to get married. Then you learn that after all she is not a… maiden.” That last word was added a little more quietly, a faint blush creeping on her cheeks. “Would that change anything for you, since you seem to support holding men and women to equal standards?” The redhead’s question was quite honest and she truly wanted to learn his answer, for which Lynn stopped walking altogether, hands crossing in front of her as she defiantly lifted her chin up to the prince. There was no missing the laughter in his next words and that only made the redness on her cheeks to deepen. “Is that so humorous, prince Henry? Maybe you’d like to marry a woman you do not love simply because society pressures you into finding a wife?”
⚔
Upon hearing the princess’ question, a glimmer of surprise flickered in Henry’s eyes. Emmalynn couldn’t possibly know what she was doing to him! Each and every time she spoke, he was floored by her and all the more tantalized and enchanted. Although their discussion had taken a sudden detour, it was nonetheless riveting for the prince. Initially, he did not really know how to even begin to answer, for he’d never given it any thought before. If nothing else, Henry was a man of meditation and reflection. He would not dare speak on important matters, if he hadn’t spent hours absorbed in thought over it. “I - I - Well, you see…hm,” his fingers stroked his chin, “Princess, I do believe your words are far more interesting than mine will ever be,” chuckled Henry, quietly and somewhat nervously. He knew there was no getting around and avoiding answering a question like that. “The correct response would be ‘no’, of course - it should not change a thing.” Distracted, he marveled at the sight of her lovely blush-stained cheeks, which he resisted the urge to feel underneath his hand. She was so very beautiful indeed. Henry had his mind made up. The princess had to be his wife - he just had to have her. At any cost. “Is there,” he spoke gently, carefully, “something you’re trying to tell me, Princess? Are you not…” Leaning a bit closer, he stated bluntly and gently, “No, forget it - don’t answer - I don’t care about that.” He withheld his laughter at her next question and shaking his head, answered, “Er...that is true. There is a certain expectation, but I do want a wife. And children, sooner rather than later… I just don’t know if ‘love’ is really all that um - practical. But, it’s also not entirely unheard of or unnatural to want.”
