Walking through the picturesque streets of Cardinal Hill, you find Isabela “Izzy” Rodriguez, the 25 year old tractor mechanic & ranch hand at Prescott Ranch originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Living alongside them in such a small town, you know that they're charismatic and rambunctious, but what you might not know is that they are a witch, and that they’re hiding something…
tw parental death
Isabela grew up in a family that knew the importance of the word. She is the oldest of six children, the rest of whom are her younger brothers. In a way, Izzy acted as another parent, especially after the loss of their father. She longed for the days when she'd be in the garage with him in the morning, then helping her mother in the kitchen that evening. The guilt ate at her while the family was none the wiser. It had been her fault that Dante Rodriguez passed that night, a shock from her hand mysteriously causing the electric car jack to lower onto the man beneath it, crushing him. That being the first appearance of her powers, the fifteen-year-old didn't know what to call it, and it was deemed an accident. After that, her life was never the same. Not only did Izzy take over as a parent in the house while her mother worked to keep the bills paid, but in secret, she learned to control her abilities, promising herself to never use them again. As far as she'd seen, all they did was destroy what was most important to her.
The place she felt at home, even after everything, was working on a car. Isabela is close in age to her cousin Dante, and they grew up in each other's presence. She was his self-proclaimed mechanic and went to every one of his races. Another place in her life where one moment changed everything. Izza was in the crowd the night of the accident, her heart racing as she ran towards the track as they pulled her best friend from the wreckage. While she was happy to have her cousin, he was different, and she could see the weight on his shoulders. When he moved to Cardinal Hill, initially, Izzy wanted to stay, but it didn't take long without Dante for her to be inspired to take her own jump. While she feels bad leaving behind her family, her brothers are old enough now that they take care of things around the house and help their mother. At 25, she is finally getting to see what life is like outside of Albuquerque, but she can't help to be homesick.

her father taught her everything about cars. he is the one who showed her how to ride a horse, fix a flat, and play guitar. he helped shape her into who she is. from her mother, she learned how to cook all of the rodriguez family recipes and continues to cook now, helping to remind her and dante of home.
her familiar is a jackrabbit. though disconnected for years, something about being in cardinal and around her cousin again has brought him back when she needs him most. during childhood, she heavily relied on the creature for support. izzy lovingly refers to him by the name: santi.
she grew up riding horses and working with animals. her father was a ranch hand, only working on cars as a hobby, both being legacies izzy wanted to live on. the car they were working on the night of his death was given to her when she turned eighteen and the same she drove to washington to start her new life.
she plays a little guitar, though she isn't fond of singing and prefers to strum. while she's known to sing a little, most of it isn't in english and are soft ballads, though this isn't a skill she shares with almost anyone, as it's very personal to her.
when it gets slow at work, she doodles, normally desert scenes, jack rabbits, or cactus. that's about all she can draw well or at least, according to izzy.
she has a handful of cactus plants that she loves dearly. they came all the way from new mexico and live in the trailer with her and dante where she's staying until she finds a place.
izzy loves johnny cash and spaghetti westerns.
