a repressed yawn stuck in his throat like a lump of coal. dark shadows from lack of sleep and long knights pressed around his tired blue eyes like bruises the colour of violets. alexus morningstar would be the first one to admit he looks a mess. the pallor of his skin and the dead nothingness in his eyes were not exactly camera ready, but he couldn’t resist sneaking out of his flat to sate his cravings at one of the only places around his flat that served vegan desserts. wasn’t the whole point of being a rockstar to look like crap and still have legions of die-hard fans love him to pieces anyway? he was sleepily prevailing upon the breakfast items in the display before he heard someone address him, tipping his chin up in greeting when he saw the familiar face. “i was actually stalking you, so you’re wrong,” he stated flatly, no traces of humour in his face. “my cover story is that i’m here to buy a lemon and poppy seed muffin though i am strongly considering an apple cinnamon muffin instead.” 

he shoves his hands deep into the pockets of his loose hoodie, a worn thing that he’d stolen from a past flame years and years ago that he had made his own with patches that glaringly spoke for him. fuck the police said one, cruelty free said another. a ripped and frayed palestinian flag, the black lives matter insignia, a big middle finger somewhere, a pin that said ow. his stylist had a difficult time convincing him not everything he wore had to be a one-sided conversation piece but lex didn’t spend an evening playing arts and crafts not to wear the frankenstein monsters of ruined clothes in his wardrobe. “i’m whatever. experiencing the comedown of the ages. you?”

a quick once-over and lito finds himself a bit amused with his appearance-- he’s tired-looking, like he’s dead tired or just dead in general. it’s pretty, in a sense, and brave in another. lito has always felt the pressure to look his best at all times. otherwise, there would be about a billion articles written by the daily mail and tmz about the breaking new: miguel aritza looks a mess: source says there’s drug problems, they’d all say, speculating this way and that over how high he was when the pictures were taken. his eyes stick briefly on the patches that stood sewn into alexus’ hoodie-- they’re nice. he wishes he had the balls to wear stuff like that. snapped out of his thoughts by the dreary voice of the other, his eyes focus in again on the other’s face. “stalking me, eh? i always knew you had a crush on me. i could see it in those eyes.” he says with a bounce on his toes. “i say you should go with lemon and poppy seed. that’s always been a good flavor of muffin.” he laughs a little bit and bounces on his toes again, full of pent up energy that was only made worse by the caffeine coursing through him.

"yeah, i could’ve guessed,” lito smirked, eyes giving another once over. “i’m good. not much going on, though; i was just talking to some girls.” he shrugs a little bit and takes another sip from his drink while his other hand dug deeper into the pocket of his leather jacket. “

lito would be lying if he said he doesn’t enjoy basking in the attention of the two particularly eager girls who are currently cornering him in the coffee shop, babbling on about how much they love love LOVE the show ( it’s apparently, ‘like, totally a guilty pleasure’ ). a kittenish smile spreading on his face, he excuses himself from their one-sided conversation and squeezes past them, leaving them to fawn over him in his absence. just beyond he comes face to face with someone familiar and smiles. “oh, hey.” he offers a small wave. “what are you doing here? -- wait, never mind. bad question. you’re probably getting a drink or something. new question: how are you?”
