how does a monster become a monster?
Marcella couldn’t believe her eyes when some of her guys found her, saying there was a Mikaelson back in New Orleans. She was sure their father had made sure they never returned, therefore making herself ruler as she rebuilt the ash filled city. She had her men all over the city looking for which Mikaelson it was but little did she know he would be dumb enough to walk through her door.
“Klaus Mikaelson,” She spoke with a smile on her lips as she approached the balcony and looked down at the Original. “It’s about time you showed your face around here. Welcome back to the town where the blood never stops flowing and the party never ends. ” She mused, hoping down from the balcony so that she was level with him.
It had been ages since she had seen him but he still looked the same, almost the same attire just a little less classy then what she was used to seeing. Her eyes drifted around to the group of vampires that had circled the Mikaelson, nodding her head towards the doorway to let them now they can stand down and continue it is whatever they were doing. “What brings you back to New Orleans, darling?”
He didn’t fully know the terms of all that had changed, yet, here he was. Standing right in the middle of a kingdom that he wanted to regain for himself again. Of course, he had no intent on out right admitting that. Not after finding out who was in charge of the place in question. He had long since thought Marcella dead.
“The party,” he said offering her what passed as a humble smile on his lips. “Home.”
It felt good coming off of his lips. He had established an estate. Just on the outskirts of town. It wasn’t exactly humble for his tastes considering it’s history but it would due for home for at least a while.
“Quite the festivities,” he said, taking in the crowd. “Your doings?”
“That’s not good enough.” She wouldn’t accept that answer, not after everything he put her through. She ran for her life, and he took her family from her because of it. There’s was more to it. He wasn’t telling her everything. “I gave you back your stupid moonstone. Elena let you in on her existence. What else do you want from me?”
The compulsion cut off her anger, and she did as he said. Her lips touched his like they were back in 1492. A flash in Katherine’s mind went back those moments. Those feelings. The confusion she felt about Klaus returning her feelings. She parted from his lips, and looked up at him. Realizing he was only using her, again. “You know, I don’t like being told what to do.”
“You entirely mistake what it is that I want,” he said as his lips expanded into a grin. He placed his hands firmly behind his back and kept them there. Studying her. Knowing full well that he would be fighting her for control on some level. Still, the kiss was a sufficient start. It was a step towards his overall goal. Towards his victory over her.
He moved behind her before embracing her. “Relax. You’ve no reason to be afraid of me anymore. In my presence, you are safe. You are at home.” He closed his eyes. “You are mine.”
He kissed a small trail along her ear. “You’ll be happiest in my presence. As if this is the life that you wanted. Knowing full well that I can give you what you truly need. What you truly want.”
To most of the world, he as a mere legend. A shadow that gave rise to nightmares. The majority of the vampire generation came from a mix of his own family’s line and other breeds of vampires, that he wasn’t fully aware of. It made little difference to him but he knew there was an awaiting threat on the horizon. Vampires determined to seek some kind of control. It was almost childish in his eyes. Still, he couldn’t let threats out of his sight. Not that he really needed to worry.
The security was for his own army. For Tyla’s sake. There wasn’t any actual love between them. He had forced her to change into a Hybrid. Falling under his own beck and call like a servant. Still, she was a part of his inner circle and he hadn’t made the decision lightly. He knew that every decision came with a risk.
He had so few options in terms of what to do. Bekah and Elijah would have nothing to do with him. So he - they would have to do their best to blend into this vampire circle. He doubted that either of them would be known. They would likely be questioned because of their scents. About how different they were. He always use compulsion as deemed necessary, when the question was brought forth. Even if it meant pushing his luck on every single front.
The hotel the vampires had chosen was typical Hollywood fare. Nothing that he hadn’t seen before. Walking into the hotel with Tyla in tow, he held his arms around her waist and took his time heading towards their room. The lot was playing low to cover. The hotel was full to the brim with humans. It was likely that they were going to be monitored in some capacity around the hotel and even their room.
He opened the door for Tyla. “After you, my love,” he said, offering her what passed as a humble smile for him.

New Orleans had been his home for the longest of time. Until matters had dictated otherwise. Taken out of his control. Forced him and his family to run and hide like scared little children. It wasn’t something that he had wanted but had to accept. He had wanted to return back there sooner. Life had dictated otherwise.
He didn’t doubt that he wasn’t welcome back in the confines of the city. It didn’t bother him in the slightest. Rather, it just annoyed him. On the surface, so little had changed. The city had certainly moved forward with the times but a large portion of the same buildings were very much still intact. Just slightly altered to suit the needs of modern technology.
He had heard word that Marcella was alive. Something he didn’t believe impossible, yet, as he stepped into the compound that was once what he declared home. He found himself believing the rumor. She was just as beautiful as he remembered her. All those times ago. Her fashion sense had changed to the modern period. Just like his own but he could pick her out across any room.
It didn’t take him a second to notice that company was surrounding him. Something that didn’t even bother him in the slightest. “Down boys, I’m only here for the show,” he said, putting his arms out as if he were some innocent. It was purely an act, of course. He could throw these vampires across the room with ease. Likely kill them just as quick but it wouldn’t leave a good message in his own favor. Not considering he was here to only make his presence known.

She found comfort in the crowded speakeasy, the way the bodies crushed together, the sounds of so many voices, the loud voices. She fed on it, really, nearly as much as she did on the bodies that pressed to hers. Partners weren’t hard to find, not when everyone was out for a good time. She was having the time of her life.
Laughing and moving to the sound of the band playing, she was conscious of eyes on her. Eyes that always seemed to find their way to where she was. A secret smile was on her face as she put on a show for him, dancing closer than was proper with Stefan, her newest bait.
A glance over her shoulder just to make sure he was still watching. Rebekah gestured for Nik to come over to join her.
When she beckoned him, he followed. Not even caring or registering this game of her’s with Stefan. As much as he liked Stefan’s company, he knew she was using him as a pawn to make him jealous in the larger picture of things. On some small level it worked but he knew he could control both Stefan and Bekah if he deemed necessary.
Though controlling Bekah was far off of his list of things to do. Instead, he moved up beside her. Not entirely certain if he should join in on whatever dance this was she was playing at. Either way, he just enjoyed the performance. The sway of her hips as she danced. The way she moved.
He placed his hands behind his back. “What is it that you need, my dearest sister?” He whispered into her ear. Still keeping his hands in place. Leaving her just a mere hint of contact but not any actual physical touching. At least not yet.
She raised her head as a familiar voice said her name. How did he find her here? Shaking her head for a moment, she looked up at him, her face streaked with tears, dirt and blood. She blinked slowly and raised her arms up, not able to walk.
“— you’re really here right, I’m not just dreaming.” Her words were soft and as she was in his arms, Elena buried her head in his chest. She could feel something different about him, a rage she’d never seen but as she laid against him, there was a feeling that nothing could hurt her. Holding on tight, her body shook.
“Klaus—” The wind picked up and the air was filled with the smell of blood. She knew whoever was following her wouldn’t be after her again. “I’m so scared. Why were they following me? I was just headed home from school.”
“Hunters,” he whispered. “Apparently, my past has truly come back to haunt me once again.” The bodies he had left in his wake were numerous. Echoes of what seemed to be another life now.
He held her tight. Still sniffing the air. “We’re still not alone.”
He bent his head down. “My own transgressions are back to haunt me. I’m sorry they’re coming at you, my love. I think it’s best that I figure out who is trying attack us both.” He looked out into the graveyard. “Though I’m not entirely certain if I can keep you safe.”
