(Not) So Sweet Serendipity
Mike sighed as he lowered himself into the water. Taking a bubble bath had been the first thing on his mind after the (almost) 6 hour flight between Los Angeles and Honolulu and thatâs exactly what he proceeded to do once he was in his suite. The past few days had been intense and the warm water felt like heaven to his sore muscles. Donât even get him started on the view. The bathtub was facing a large terrasse overlooking the bay. As for the bedroom? The view of the turquoise water beach was even better from there. It was exactly what he was looking for: a relaxing environment.
How long had it been since he last went on vacation? His job required commitment and discipline, plus the amount of practice and dedication was insane. It was also rewarding because it Mike was now competing with the best. Actually, he was one of the best. His latest title proved it.
A delighted groan passed his lips as he sat back and relaxed. He could already imagine himself sipping cocktails by the pool, enjoying massages at the spa, swimming in the ocean and why not attend a few parties and flirt a little. It was time to forget about the daily grind, to forget about L.A. and just go with the flow.
Piper almost talked herself out of going on this vacation about - at least six different times before sheâd convinced herself to get on the plane and not look back. Well, mostly. Itâd taken some major convincing on the behalf of her friends and her own Mother, and she begrudgingly agreed if only to appease them. The empty plane seat beside her was a constant reminder of the person who was supposed to be on this trip with her, so instead of dwelling, she glued herself to her phone for at least half of the plane ride, telling herself there was nothing wrong with getting some work done before she got to her hotel room.
But as she landed and made her way to said hotel, reality started to dawn on her, leaving behind a hollow feeling in her chest that only slightly eased with the smiles of the staff as she checked in and was handed her card. She wondered if they felt sorry for her, if they knew it was originally a reservation for two, but she shoved that thought out of her mind by offering the staff a small smile as her big bags were taken with the promise of dropping them off for her later.
She hiked her carry on bag up on her shoulder and made her way to her room, letting herself in and becoming absolutely floored at how beautiful it was. For the first time all day, the smile that crossed her face was genuine as she slowly made her way inside, letting the door fall softly shut behind her. She shrugged off her bag on the nearest bed, not seeing the items that looked like they already had an owner, and walked to the window where she spread open the curtains. The view was⊠unbelievable, and for a split second, maybe she was glad she came if just for this.Â
After a few moments, Piper walked around the spacious room, before noticing a light shining underneath the door of what she assumed to be the bathroom. She cocked her head to the side in curiosity, but thought nothing of it as she figured staff must have left the light on for her. Merely just exploring, she walked over to push the door open, and was promptly meant with the sight of a full ass man lounging in the tub.
A small yelp pulled from her lips as she took a few steps backwards, eyes wide as she stared at him, clearly shirtless and well-built and a complete stranger in her hotel room?! âWhat are you doing?!â Her words rose in a panicked octave as her hand slapped over her eyes, not sure if it was out of embarrassment at having walked in on him, or trying to be respectful for whatever reason. She backed up until her back hit the wall, maybe perhaps the teensiest bit over-dramatic. âIs this not room 401??âÂ
