H2Oscillation, 2014 Digitally Synthesized Audio/VisualRunning Time: 3:55
H2Oscillation is a minimal exploration of some particular personal interests of the artists. The first being water as a necessity to organic life. These same forms can be similarly seen in almost everything to do with terrestrial life itself including advanced human function. As a surfer and a dweller of coastal habitats, I find myself needing the ocean. It's geographic orientation to the land gives me direction. Murray Schafer touches on this when he writes, “Any visitor to the seashore will find the recital of the waves remarkable, but only the maritime poet, with the obstinate of the sea in his ears from birth to grave, can measure precisely the systole and diastole of waves and tides.”[1] Learning to surf WELL involves not mastering of a surfboard but mastering the understanding of water waves. Understanding how water carries energy and how that energy moves through the water over time. Water is also explored formally and synesthetically as both a polar molecule and wave oscillations in the ocean. This paralleled concept is applied to resonant frequencies of a specific room in the form of a single oscillator or single wave generator. The minimal binary of crests and troughs of the digital oscillator through time, can be installed to resonate with a space's frequency which can 'activate' the room as an object that then places the listener/viewer within itself. The goal of H2Oscillation is to explore a common perceived form via a keystone sound but on a minimal level both formally and materially while installing the work spatially for listeners to experience within the instrument itself. H2Oscillation literally interprets the audio data of itself and re-presents it on a timeline which gives the data a landscape type of form so experiencers can synesthetically ‘watch’ the sound.

Randomly Accessed Memories, 2014 9:26 Looping Mixed Media
Randomly Accessed Memories is an audio/visual installation for the IMAX Dome which aims to critique and celebrate human interaction with technology emphasizing the internet. Appropriating many audio and visual samples from the web as well as generating original content, RAM was developed in a process involving Premiere Pro, Photoshop, and FL Studio that aimed to start from a central idea and fractalize out into numerous directions. The narrative structure follows a disjointed Rhizome pattern that comes in the form of a 9:26 Looping digital video.
