Electromagneticgate we are so here! I don’t know what it means at all yet, but it’s so interesting because I wonder how this will work when we get to the actual clip of the Shadow Monster on the VHS-C but we’re watching it on VHS or on VHS-C (because VHS-C was out in 1984). Will it disappear…? Are the true monsters, more visible on VHS?

I mean, they are shown to interact with tapes, and now we are getting the VHS tapes. VHS tapes work by having analog signals (different from like radio signals but still signals) encoded onto them, and then the VCR basically decodes them into a format that is visible on your screen.

Even the damn NOISE from a VHS tape looks like the starry sky backgrounds in the show…

Lastly, putting the date on a VHS is a manual recording option… Will, you smart boy!

Worth noting, this DATED tape is also the one the lab confiscated… 🤨🧐

Some of the ones Brenner has are dated, some are not.

Lastly, the consumer … VHS (video home system) is a consumer-level analog tape recording 👀

we already know that it's interesting what scenes they connect hopper's words to in the trailer. how there's a double meaning. he's talking to jane but implied that he's talking about will too.

it's established when hopper says "life has been so unfair to you. your childhood was taken from you" over these scenes

but i don’t think it stops there.

"manipulated by terrible people. but you never let it break you."

will was manipulated by vecna as well, but he didn't let it break him. that's what they're showing us here.

"fight for the days on the other side of this. fight for a world beyond hawkins."

strange to link those words with this shot. a lot of people say that's the hill cerebro was built on, but i'm not sure. it most likely is, but i can't be positive. but it's being struck by lightning which i have tried to link with will and signals before 😆 but "a world beyond hawkins" is what i'm interested in the most.

and hopper's dialogue during the moment he's speaking to jane in ep8 has been linked to will in the past

"i need you to fight one last time" has been already been connected to will unlocking his powers in the teaser trailer.

so i think it's worth looking into.

we know will won't let manipulation break him. will can fight for the days on the other side. will can fight for a world beyond whatever version of hawkins they're stuck in. that's what i hear from this at the moment.

and we know this trailer is literal because of this

one? yeah. that's him. the "one" title only gets this one scene.

"episode" gets two scenes. the trailer links the explosion in the upside down with a picture of dustin when the entire upside down is exploded. i think that's pretty on the nose visual communication for a trailer.

yeah. that is his left hand. thanks for telling us. ("left" also only gets one scene but in the next one, vecna is also over hopper's left shoulder and i think that's funny.)

i'm gonna wait to see if they do actually post a s2 vhs version before getting too excited 😅

but remember those posts i made about captured (the video game)? that's what it made me think of when i looked at a few scenes lmao (since i already conflated the two stories). the premise of that game is kids get captured by this strange entity who traps them in a loop in their own houses. it's an anomaly game, so players have to find the anomalies to progress. i won't give it all away but i'm still gonna put this under a read more just in case.

and as you progress, you find out a little bit of the story. the whole game is shot through a video camera. during one of the loops, you find out that the outside world can actually see the footage you're capturing. (wait it does tell you that at the beginning of the game too 😆 i forgot. but i still don’t want to spoil anything) the parents of the captured kids are aware that their kids are stuck in a nightmare version of their house. sometimes, the outside world can make contact... through the phone.

i had a thought this morning that i just remembered about how things in s5 are based on terrible finales and then there's the implied AI usage for the script. maybe that's the commentary too bc AI just lifts from existing stuff. it's not just them recreating it, but they're acting like it was written by AI in that way.

I really wish they had shown more of the friendship between Will and Lucas. In S4, they both honestly related to and needed each other the most when they were feeling alone. Like they do a parallel using the same song and everything.

And then Will the next Episode:

Like, obviously Will's situation has another layer to it because of Mike, but seriously. Will and Lucas needed each other 😔

They play the same song over both moments, it's titled "I wouldn't remember me either." Literally the exact title. Like please, these poor boys 😪😭

still feeling bad 😆 all i talk about is nonsense anyway lol. people just watch us and wait until i “crash out” which is annoying. i hate seeing it or dealing with it. never got any real support from the cast & crew in the first place about anything which whatever fine. but dedicated fans who have been with this story for 10 years are mistreated and i can’t stand it. wish i could just go private in like a twitter way and not a complete lockdown way.
