There is a girl who claims that she is Sunni, but she holds a belief that cursing the Sahabah does not make someone a disbeliever. When I repeatedly asked her about it, she clearly said “no,” but instead of explaining her position she just told me to “read it myself.”
When I searched, I found two Shia websites, and it became clear that she had taken all of her information from there—and honestly, it was all baseless.
What is strange is that on one hand she posts statuses expressing love for the Sahabah and for Aisha (رضي الله عنها), but on the other hand she also shows love and sympathy for Shias and does not consider them disbelievers.
Recently, she even posted a status making duʿāʾ for Khamenei and referring to him as a martyr. When I asked her how she could call him a martyr when he has been responsible for the deaths of so many Muslims, she had no answer for that either.
Now I want to respond to her and refute the claim she made—that cursing the Sahabah does not make someone a disbeliever, and that even some Sahabah cursed one another.
Subhan Allah this is truly something grave and I ask Allah سبحانه وتعالى from coming even an atoms weight close to it, one can claim many things but it is not our claims that make us who we are, rather it is;
1. What is within our hearts
2. What our hearts manifest through action/speech
She may claim all she likes that she is from Ahlul Sunnah, but if she was she would not state such atrocities
Malik Ibn Anas رحمه الله said, “Whoever curses the companions of the prophet صلى الله على وسلام has no share in Islam”,
as well as the statement of Imam Ahmad رحمه الله in Usul As-Sunnah wherein he says, “whoever insults the companions of the messenger of Allah صلى الله على وسلام, I fear he has committed Kufr”
It has also been narrated in Sahih Al Bukhari that Rasul Allah صلى الله على وسلام said, “Do not insult my Companions”
Allah سبحانه وتعالى says in Al Quran
وَٱلسَّـٰبِقُونَ ٱلْأَوَّلُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُهَـٰجِرِينَ وَٱلْأَنصَارِ وَٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَـٰنٍۢ رَّضِىَ ٱللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُوا۟ عَنْهُ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّـٰتٍۢ تَجْرِى تَحْتَهَا ٱلْأَنْهَـٰرُ خَـٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَدًۭا ۚ ذَٰلِكَ ٱلْفَوْزُ ٱلْعَظِيمُ
And the first forerunners (in faith) among the Muhājireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct, Allāh is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment.
{ Surat At-Tawbah : 100 }
If Allah سبحانه وتعالى has sent revelation that he تبارك وتعالى is pleased with the Sahaba, who would DARE claim otherwise, being a Muslim is loving that which Allah loves and hating that which Allah hates, how can one claim Islam if he insults that which Allah is pleased with? And has promised jannah to?
Ibn Kathir رحمه الله commentary on this aayah;
Allah, the Most Great, stated that He is pleased foremost with the Muhajirin, the Ansar and those who followed their lead with excellence. Therefore, woe to those who dislike or curse them, or dislike or curse any of them, especially their master after the Messenger, the best and most righteous among them, the Siddiq (the great truthful one) and the grand Khalifah, Abu Bakr bin Abi Quhafah رضي الله عنهما
The failure group, the Rafidah (a sect of Shiites), are the enemies of the best Companions, they hate and curse them, we seek refuge with Allah from such evil. This indicates that the minds of these people are twisted and their hearts turned upside down, for where are they in relation to believing in the Qur'an They curse those whom Allah stated He is pleased with!
As for the followers of the Sunnah, they are pleased with those whom Allah is pleased with, curse whomever Allah and His Messenger curse, and give their loyalty to Allah's friends and show enmity to the enemies of Allah. They are followers not innovators, imitating (the Sunnah) they do not initiate it on their own. They are indeed the party of Allah, the successful, and Allah's faithful servants
These evidences should be more than sufficient
As for anyone who sits and calls khemeni a martyr? Authu billah, I genuinely don’t know what to even comment on such a thing because even the most ignorant KNOW that he is an enemy of Islam! May Allah rid the earth of the likes of him!
may Allah سبحانه وتعالى keep us steadfast and protect us from misguidance! Ameen ya rub
