Havoc held the gun close to Miles' head, dropping his cigarette onto the ground & snuffing it out with his boot. “Long live the king.” he muttered, his voice dripping with revenge & his eyes locking onto the Major's.
There aren’t many things that surprise Miles. Usually, he can see things coming from a mile away, and betrayal is hardly ever a shock. But this… no, this wasn’t expected at all. This was a betrayal that made his blood run cold. ”Havoc… Put the gun down, let’s just talk,” he murmured softly, his eyes not leaving his. ”Tell me what’s wrong.”
Havoc kept the gun in place but his eyes softened. “She’s dead…” he whispered, quiet tears streaming down his face & his voice cracking. “She’s gone & he just kept walking.”
"She’s not gone, Havoc," Miles replied, his voice soft but firm. "She’s probably with him now, kicking him down for some dumb mistake he’s made." Miles reached a hand up to rest gently on Havoc’s forearm, going nowhere near the gun on the opposite side. "And I’m here, with you. I’m here and everything is alright."
"No she’s not." he managed to whisper. With his free hand, Havoc unfastened his best to reveal his blood-soaked shirt. The hand the Major had on him slowly weighted down his arm & he let it fall, lowering the gun to his side.
Miles blinked, his body tensing at his words and at the sight of so much blood. ”Havoc… What happened?” He stepped closer, not bothering to grab at the gun. ”Where is she… Who’s blood is that?”
Havoc’s voice wavered. “It’s Riza’s.” His eyes burned with hot tears & his throat stung. “I found her lying in the hallway with a gun wound to the chest.” A sob escaped his throat. “I tried to keep her awake. I tried. I ran her to the infirmary but…” He looked away. “I saw Mustang walking away from her when I found her.” Jean’s voice hardened. “I will kill him for this.”
"It cannot be, Havoc," he replied, his hand squeezing the man's shoulder. No, Riza Hawkeye couldn't be dead, and definitely not because of Roy Mustang. "Let's talk this through. Talk to me about what happened. Did an ambulance come?" Was it a dream? What happened?
