"I’m not a mystery!" Lacey exclaimed indignantly, her smile broadening even more. She swatted his arm jokingly before raising an eyebrow and giggling. "I’ll let you think you’re paying, but really, I’ll be paying. I am quite the vixen!” She informed him, poking her tongue out rather childishly.

By the time the reached the park, the moon was already high in the sky. According to Lacey’s watch it was only seven thirty, which was the perfect time to eat. She sat down on the grass, with the pram beside them, and leaned against a tree. “When you weren’t looking, I snuck strawberries into the cart, so you can at least be happy that I let you pay for those.”

With a content sigh, Lacey ripped into one of the packets of sushi, before taking a bite. She chewed thoughtfully, trying to decide what to ask him. She found it absolutely adorable that he tried to make an innuendo and failed - James would definitely approve. “Hm… Okay, truth or truth numero uno; what’s your favourite colour?”

Miles laughed, playfully rolling his eyes at her. "Well while you may think that you will be the one who is paying, I'll have already paid before you even get the chance." He brought his hands to his head, making an explosion sound. "Boom. Mind blown."

He sat across from her, pulling out his own dinner. Occasionally his knee would bump into her hers, and every time it happened the biggest smile would find its way onto his face. He pretended to look offended when she told him that he had paid for the strawberries. "I hope that you'll at least share them with me." The play- pretend look on his face quickly turned into a puppy dog face, complete with batting eye lashes.

Miles took a bite of his sandwich, while he thought of a question to ask her when it was his turn. "My favorite color....I'd have to go with green. It reminds me of the outdoors, of like grass and stuff. I dunno, I like it a lot. What about you, Miss Stewart?" He flashed her another crooked grin as he waited for an answer. "And also after you answer that, here's question number two: what's your favorite instrument to play? I know you're real big into that."

Jaw dropping, Lacey giggled and swatted his arm. “How can you not like sushi? You must be a spawn of Satan,” she decided, poking her tongue out at him childishly and pointedly picking up three different kinds of sushi (despite her size, she could actually eat quite a lot, and she had accidentally skipped lunch because she’d been too busy working on her science assignment for school).

After paying for their food and exiting the store (she had simply insisted that she pay for her own meal and refused to let him pay), she led him to the park, pushing Melody along cheerfully. Hopefully the baby would sleep most of the time and wouldn’t bother them too much, but she obviously couldn’t be sure.

"So… Miles. Tell me a bit about yourself?" She asked curiously, tilting her head up and smiling pleasantly. "I mean, I know where you work, clearly, and I know you don’t like sushi, but like, I don’t really know much else about you…" She trailed off and broke into a grin. "Or we could play a game of Truth or Truth which is like Truth or Dare but only with truths."

Miles chuckled before sticking his tongue back out at her, his sandwich in hand. "Hey now, you may call him Satan...but I only like to refer to him as 'dad' or sometimes even 'father' depends on how we're getting along that day. We do share a deep hatred for sushi, so there's that." He frowned when they reached the check out line and she began to insist that she pay for her own meal. Although he hadn't been on a date before, he knew that it was generally his part to pay for his date's meal....even if it was at a grocery store. He flashed her a crooked smile as he watched her pay for her food. "You are going to be one of my favorite mysteries, Lacey. Next time though, I will buy you your food. Just so you're aware."

Their walk to the park wasn't a long one, Miles knew, and as their feet moved in sync with one another he smiled to himself. Occasionally the baby would make a gurgle, or some other sound, and the smile on Miles's face would grow even bigger. Turns out, he really did like kids. When Lacey broke the silence, he looked over at her and shrugged. "I will gladly tell you anything you want to know about me. If you're expecting me to be super interesting, you may be setting yourself up for disappointment. Let's play Truth or Truth, even though I've never heard of it. And who knows," a small smirk found itself on his lips, "maybe we'll slip in some dares too." Almost instantly he blushed, laughing to himself. "I can't even do that with a straight face and without turning bright red."

Acting, huh? I haven’t had any good experiences with acting majors really. I’m a dance major. Also: don’t sing around Lacey if you’re bad. She will probably murder you.

Why not? You dance? That's actually really awesome. I wish I could dance, but as far as I'm concerned I have two left feet, which blows. I don't want to get murdered!!!! Especially by Lacey, because I feel like it'd be a very thought out plan. And no one would ever catch her.

The idea of a moonlit picnic in the park was so romantic it made Lacey want to squeal. She wasn’t treated like a princess very often, and this was a nice change from what she normally went through. She smiled big , the curls in her hair bobbing up and down as she nodded enthusiastically. Melody let out a happy coo and Lacey led the way out of the dorms.

"That sounds great," she said softly, just a hint of her smile still remaining on her face as she pushed the pram along. "I like ice cream, and that picnic sounds fun. And - and to be honest," she added shyly, "I’ve never really done this before either."

With another bashful smile she led the way toward the closest convenience store to pick up some of the food he had been talking about. She walked confidently to the section of ready-to-eat meals, and looked up at him - quite literally, considering how tall he was. “I like sushi, so I’m going to get that, but you can get something else.”

Miles stuffed his hands deep into his pockets, the corners of his lips turning upwards. As nervous as he was to actually go on a date with this girl who seemed absolutely intriguing, there was also a sense of comfort with her. For some reason, he felt comfortable enough to be himself around her, which he thought was pretty awesome. 

As they made their way towards the convenience store, Miles snuck looks as often as he could without being too obvious, a blush rising to his cheeks every time he thought about being caught. When she spoke to him, and he could see the traces of a smile on her face, he couldn't help but grin. "You know, for someone who has never done this before, you're quite good at it. I mean, I guess one of the good things about this being our first date ever is that expectations can't be too high."

Once inside the store, he followed Lacey and the baby over towards the ready to eat food. At the mention of sushi he scrunched his nose up, pretending to be grossed out. "Ewh, sushi is gross. I tried it one time, and all I could taste was the seaweed. I've never looked back, either." he said proudly, looking down at her. "But now, what will I eat?" he tapped a finger against his chin dramatically, chuckling. "Honestly I think I'm going to get me a sandwich and some chips. That sounds perfect." With a goofy smile, he rubbed his stomach before grabbing a premade sandwich.
