Ally has been tossing and turning all night long, not being able to get comfortable. Just as she got comfortable and was just about to fall asleep, her stomach began to cramp up and she began to start groaning from the feeling. Suddenly, she felt a goo causing her eyes to widen as she rushed to the bathroom, not listening to what Austin was saying. As soon as she pulled down her shorts, her underwear and pj pants were in fact covered in blood and she felt sick. This can’t be happening, she panics and glancing up at Austin she felt like she wanted to cry as she slowly nodded her head. “A-Austin..” she started, but couldn’t seem to finish her sentence as tears began to fill her eyes.
He looked confused, urgently pulling her face into his chest and cradling her shivering body against hers. He would have suggested it were her period, but she looked too panicked for that to be the case - after all, only the week before had she’d been having spotting, as they’d believed, but the negative pregnancy test only confirmed it was her period; so there was no way that this spurt of blood could be her period. Austin swallowed hard, terrified of all the possibilities of what this could mean, ranging anywhere from ovarian cancer to some kind of growth in her womb, and pulled back, wiping the frightened tears from her face. “I’m taking you to the hospital right now,” he said, already standing and grabbing her pads and a new pair of underwear. “Here you go. Meet me at the front door,” he ordered, with a tone that didn’t leave room for agreement - and Austin rarely got commanding like this, so he knew she would listen. He stood and moved to Alex’s room, waking his son up, and he felt terrible scaring him like this but they couldn’t leave him at home. “Mommy and Daddy have a late night adventure to do, okay?” He said, trying not to sound terrified as he grabbed Alex’s little preschool backpack filled with his toys and DS games. "You can sleep in the car, alright, Alex?” He said, lifting his son into his arms and carrying him to the front door where Ally was waiting. The poor boy was still sleepily blinking in confusion, not really sure what was happening as Austin led them outside to his car and got everybody in before starting the drive to the hospital. His knuckles turned white on the steering wheel, before he swallowed hard and reached for Ally’s hand, the other hand still gripping the wheel tightly.
