i may have suggested the pilot of the old animorphs tv series as viewing for a group of friends that love watching B-movies together. The series was chaotic but that theme song was FIRE.

He's playing with his hair in front of a mirror-- trying to look like the men who were young and restless. He wasn't quite certain why he felt the need to preen like this-- it served no purpose, unlike when his shorm groomed his hawk-form's feathers. Yet the compulsion was there-- rooted in the teenage DNA that made up this complex morph.

there it is. the doctor finds himself rocking back on his heels, hands slipping into his jacket pockets & bowtie skewed from earlier enthusiasm. silence hangs in the air for a moment until the time lord decides to pull up a rolling chair, taking a seat & leaning back against the cushion while aximili eats. a gentle smile rests on his features.

“ because, ” he starts, then stops, lips pressing together. a tiny huff of a laugh escapes. “ i help because i know what it’s like to be very far from home, ” he says simply. “ to do what you’re supposed to do so well that nobody ever asks what it costs you. ”

“ because i can. because no one should have to do the impossible alone. ” because i was once like you. he feels something old & familiar twist in his chest. gallifrey was gone. his people were gone. as much as the doctor found it difficult to admit, earth became his home. time lords were greedy. there were rules to be followed, & very quickly did those rules get broken. then the last great time war happened… & the moment seemed to be the only option to stop further bloodshed. so he did it. he destroyed his entire world to protect the rest of the universe.

a quick intake of breath, & the doctor finds himself back in the present, a smile forming again on his features. “ & because you have someone here who asked me to check up on you. ”

Until UNIT and the Doctor's intervention, there really were no adults for Ax to turn to. The team often looked to him for information and tactics regarding the Yeerks-- even if the aristh was woefully inexperienced in combat. The growing up he had to do for the sake of a planet that wasn't even his own-- and then he went and fell in love with it, like his brother before.

Yet he had a responsibility to duty-- contacting his homeworld was of the utmost importance, so that he could be returned to his people. Though Ax had failed to avenge his brother-- and a return to Andalar would undoubtedly result in his excommunication from Andalite society. It didn't matter that the Visser was seeing Earth justice-- he was still alive.

An Earthling might call it cruelty-- but to Ax it was all tradition. And tradition was to be honored-- this was simply how it was done.

He looked up at the Doctor at the mention of UNIT's commander. Ax had grown quite fond of her, and she was very kind to him. But he did have a rather peculiar nickname for her.

"Prince Kate asked you to check on me?" There was an edge of excitement and curiosity to his voice. "She-- is very kind but does not need to worry."

Ax was quick to remember himself, and did his best to temper his behavior to be more reserved. Pride was the greatest folly of the Andalites, and one might even say, the Time Lords. He was representing his entire species-- he couldn't be acting like some doe-eyed child.

"If there is any other feedback you wish to share regarding my design, I will require more of those sticky buns."
