Just realised ive been writing Kate for just over 2 years now 🥺 and around about 3 years since i came back to the rpc in general. there's been so much thats happened since I picked her up back then you wouldn't believe, but I'm so glad !!! i stuck it out bc this little corner of the rpc is so epic! I got to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. I'm so grateful to all my mutuals you're all so wonderfully creative. Keep shining buddies. 🥰
Hello Besties. I'm updating Kate's lil contact page soon so you know what that means, this is a mains/affiliated call. Hit the ❤️ to establish dynamics.
Hello Buddies. Lets bring back Magic Anons. I want Kate to be the Master for 24hrs or something.

Kate's favourite subject in school was Science. " Surprising, I know"
Kate got hit by a bus once. "no"
Kate is a bottom. - she's too repressed and British to answer this one but no. she's not. she's definitely not.
Kate likes to sing at 4 in the morning. Their neighbours hate them. "Partly correct." her neighbours do hate her.
Kate is awful with technology and doesn't know how to use a smart phone. "also partly correct" she knows how to use her phone and her beloved ipad.
Kate uses the word "like" like a comma. - it's at this precise moment she's going to decide she's had enough of whatever this interview is. You're worse than jacqui. And no, she wouldn't, she's too rich and posh for that.
Kate could easily survive The Hunger Games. - no. she'd get to like the final 2 and then decide to do some self-sacrificial bullshit. also, she doesn't know what this is come on.
Kate has a pet snake. yeah it's called ed's di-
Kate is a great artist. no. she's okay ish. she can sketch.
Kate will go feral. Watch out - we've all seen Ms staple your tie to your desk, threaten to hit you with a bottle and send aliens to gnaw off your arm. Not to mention her solution to anything involving the zygons is always, extreme.

Thinking about how baby!Kate used to go to Ballet class and got dropped off by the Doctor one time bc Dad couldnt leave work so he sent his worst employee. 😌❤️
the doctor’s head lifts at the sound of her voice, & for half a second the irritation on his face gives way to something almost like relief. almost. one hand lifts in a half-wave, half-surrender as he glances from kate to the building & back again, mouth already pulling into that bright, troublesome little grin.
“ ah, kate stewart ! how are things ? ” he says, as if greeting her is the most normal thing in the world.
“ as much as i’d enjoy taking the credit— she did it, ” he adds, thumb jabbing over his shoulder. “ dragged me sideways out of the vortex like a naughty child & dumped me on your pavement. wouldn’t listen to a word i said. still won’t, actually. ” the TARDIS gives a faint, self-satisfied creak. “ see ? smug. ”
then his attention snaps back to her, all at once more focused, the warmth in his expression giving way to something thoughtful & alert.
“ zero-point energy, though... that’s clever. obnoxiously clever. ” he tilts his head, listening to the hum under the pavement, under the building, under the lie of everything looking quite so ordinary.
“ if you don’t mind, i’d love to take a peak. ”
❝ Ah yes, your TARDIS, ❞ Her gaze drifted towards to the TARDIS as he spoke, fixing upon the machine with a look that was somewhere between wonder and apprehension. Part of her had never wanted to see inside of it. No, thank you. She'd heard enough stories from her father - her feet were going to remain on solid ground, thank you ... Earth's ground, to be precise ( the distinction was necessary ) and yet the doctor's time machine brought with it enough questions to satisfy the mind of any curious scientist.
She wasn't interested in other planets and galaxies. Life here on Earth had proved exciting enough on its own. The cube debacle, CERN's discovery of a new particle and at least a dozen new species being discovered right here. What interested Kate Stewart, was how to protect all of that. Preserve it, using technological advancement. She raised an eyebrow as the machine creaked. Sentient, according to UNIT's files. Possibly Organic. She would have to dwell on that some other time. Kate tore her eyes away from the machine, her gaze settling on the Doctor instead.
She'd meant what she'd said before. It was good to see him again. A godsend, really. Kate felt as if they were going round in circles with this thing. She had the utmost faith in herself and the rest of her team, but a good leader knew when to admit she needed help. ❝ Perhaps she was drawn to it. We've been getting some interesting readings. It's better if I show you - this way. ❞ She motioned for him to follow her, turning on her heel.
we're all stories, in the end. just make it a good one, eh ? because it was, you know ... it was the ʙᴇsᴛ. a daft old man, who stole a 𝚖𝚊𝚐𝚒𝚌 𝚋𝚘𝚡 & 𝒓𝒂𝒏 𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒚.

Something about the decision felt more claustrophobic than the submarine had ever done and that was simply because there just wasn’t any other decision they could make. Choosing between bad and worse, they were just left trapped with one option, hanging in the air like a bad omen. SHE WOULD GO, and he wouldn’t be able to stop her. Because he couldn’t. Because there was no way to stop Kate when she knew she was doing the right thing. And she was. He knew that as well.
A SIGH came over his lips as a reaction to his name from her lips; air over his lips like a pressure valve being opened slowly. It did not help against the tight feeling in his chest and he already knew it wouldn’t leave him until they were all back on solid ground with the sun shining down upon them. How much time would have to pass until they were back at their house, collapsing onto the sofa after what felt like an eternity of one day? Optimism forbid him to question whether they would ever get back to their house together, even if the thought lingered somewhere in a dark corner of his mind.
“ – I am and was aware that agreeing to this mission and coming on board this ship meant putting my life at risk again, Kate. I’m still used to it, and it is probably something that will never change, no matter how many days I spent in my comfortable office, safe behind a desk. But –” A lump in his throat forced him to clear his throat. “ – I still hate that it is the only option we have. I hate that we cannot trust the people who should be on our side because they work under the same name as we do – and who should hold the same values we do. I know, I know this is not the time or place to have this conversation, but I can’t…”
A breath taken, and a hand reached out; fingers enclosing his wife’s. “ – I am not going to stop you. I know you’re right, and I don’t want this to end in an unnecessary fight. But I am not going to… say goodbye or anything that would imply we’re not going to see each other in a few hours again. I also can’t just stay around and do nothing now. I’ll be on comms with you and HQ. I’ll do what I can from here.”
She wondered sometimes, how he could still stay so hopeful after everything he had seen in this job. It was Edward's greatest attribute in her opinion. One she wished she had retained herself. Somewhere along the way, she had shed that optimism, that sanguine disposition he wore so well. She stopped thinking of possibilities and began to be more thankful fo r just making it through today - the here and now.
❝ I know ... ❞ her brows knitted together, large dark eyes growing darker still. They fluttered shut for just a moment as his fingers clasped around hers, letting out a breath she hadn't realised she'd been holding. The weight of the world didn't lift entirely from her shoulders, but it did become briefly more manageable. Whatever was coming for them, whatever was out there in the deep depths of the ocean, be it the creature or their own organisation, they'll face that threat together. The way they always did. She squeezed his hand gently before retracting hers.
❝ You're right. You-you have every right to feel if it were you, in-in my place I ❞ She paused, swallowing. The brief thought of that eclipsed everything ... If it were Edward, she'd have done everything in her power to prevent him from going. So how could she expect him to stand there and accept this?
❝ ... 6 hours. No more. Nick knows the risks just as well as I do - perhaps even more. ❞ The submersible could support life for 120 hours if need be, but they didn't have even a quarter of that time to spare. The fleet Geneva sent would be here soon.
Ah.
Of course.
The Doctor.
"Then Muhammad must go to the mountain," Floribeth finished the proverb without thinking. Plan B it is. But something about what was said just now gave her an idea as well. Granted, it would be an idea for later, but still: an idea.
If the Doctor wasn't in their solar system, then the chances of communications were slim to none.
Their tech would need to be upgraded. Or, at least, a boost of some sorts. It'd be a project that'd take quite some time. Luckily, Floribeth had a lot of that.
Even so, she couldn't just jump on that without approval, so she cleared her throat and said: "If I may be so bold, when all of this is said and done, would it be okay if I took a beat to figure out how to optimize communications? Our technology shouldn't only be barely able to make it to the sun."
Kate nodded, a slight smile playing on the corners of her lips. ❝ By all means, be bold ... ❞ Flori was right, of course. It was unacceptable that their technology had such limits. UNIT was charged with defending the Earth. How could they properly do that if they couldn't see the threats coming their way, or-or reach out to seek help? ❝ I'll speak to Shirley about getting you a team. Colonel Ibrahim will need copies of your report to distribute to the troops. I want to make this our top priority; we already know what these three are capable of apart, I shudder to think the damage they could inflict together. ❞

"Tiger, I know you and Doris mean well, but I've spent time locked in a cage in Korea and that seems more appealing than a diet of leafy greens." It really wasn't but he had a point to make. "I've help saved this planet quit a few times, I think I've earned the right to eat whatever I want."
❝ God, Dad! You make us sound like your wardens ... I mean, really, it can't be as bad as you're making it out ... look, ❞ She unfolded a piece of paper, laying it out plainly for him on the table between them. ❝ Alright, I can see on Tuesdays she's swapped out the ham, but only because lamb is a leaner option .... and look, a takeaway every other Thursday? ❞
Oh, why was she even bothering? It was worse than trying to convince Gordy to go to bed at a reasonable hour. ❝ You've heard what your Doctor said, you can't carry on the way you have been, it's not good for you! ❞

[ TXT : Boss Lady 👽 ] : wait a minute.
[ TXT : Boss Lady 👽 ] : Kate I have been here 3 months I have no clue where any of that is. Please drop a location pin- if you have no idea what that means ask Doctor Bingham. Also don't do anything particularly brave. Stay safe.
[ TXT : Boss Lady 👽 ] : --and if this still has anything to do with servers I'll be measuring power output, flux, & delay on my way in.

❝ Yes, well, that's the British government for you ... a disappointment all round. ❞
She kept her tone clipped, neutral Difficult to do when it appeared a teenager had just broken into a secure government facility and was now foraging around the break room for coffee. Large dark eyes followed the boy as he zipped across the room with frightening speed. Some sort of technology, she supposed? Her brows furrowed together; she hadn't seen him press a button or reach for a remote. Psychic then? However he's managing it, this unassuming young man is a threat to safety. Kate reached for the phone in her pocket.
❝ I'm afraid UNIT isn't a library, you-you can't just pop in and borrow our resources when it suits. ❞

How does Kate feel suspecting the First Lady of Earth shagged her dad?
She's banning all aliens within 100 million yards of Earth's atmosphere thanks.
