Headcanons:

He decided that the most reliable way to hide something is to put it in the front of everyone. That’s why he works officially as a DJ under the same nickname (Goldminer). There is an opinion that his nickname is connected with the fact that he finds beautiful but super rare compositions for his remixes. At least his fans (!) think so. 

He doesn’t remember anything about his life until he was 15 years old. Officially, he was in a car accident with his family, and Otabek was the only one who survived. A week after the accident, he came out of the coma and completely recovered soon, except for memory loss.

After the accident, he got into the orphanage, where he became friends with two older guys, crazy fans of computers. Later he found out that one of them earns money by hacking the emails of high-ranking officials and selling this information on the side.

Otabek disapproved of this way to earn money, but still asked a friend to show him the basics of hacking. 

Once he wanted to know more about that accident and himself. He hacked the necessary database and soon realized that there was absolutely no information about that car accident, but a lot of documents with top secret materials. Like it all was planning only to hide… something. 

Now he tries to understand who he is and his family was, his past and what really happened that day. 

He was also anonymously recruited by the government as a talented hacker.

Cars cause him panic, so he learned to ride a motorbike.

He doesn’t react well to daylight. Doctors say this is the consequence of the accident. Therefore, his official profession is a night DJ.

Can’t live without good coffee. One day he was almost found as a hacker through the city points where the best coffee is sold.

So he decided that as soon as he knows all about himself, he would open the coffee shop and never come back to hacking again.

He knows about Karma Tiger as a genius hacker, and ofc he admired his talent. Later he found out that Karma Tiger is the second night owl of the same coffee house (!), where Otabek likes to be at night. So Otabek is the first one.

He can’t believe Karma Tiger is that fragile boy in tiger sneakers.

Yura is russian hacker. He hides his origin tho’. 

He lost his parents when he was 12. His father was the owner of the leading cyber safety company. One (really bad) day his company was attacked by group of unknown armed people. Attack’s goal was security keys from secret government data, and his dad refused to give it away. Instead, he managed to call the police, but the attackers fled the crime scene before police arrived.

But his father knew that they would return, so he tried to take his family out of town to a safe place. If he only had more time…

Yura saw the killer grab his mother. She screamed Yura to run away from home. So little Yura did.

After a couple of weeks of wandering and escaping from killers, he was literally dying of hunger and cold (it was fucking cold late autumn) in the park. Here he was saved by his future adoptive grandfather Nikolai.

Yura’s father began to teach him programming early. Yura turned out to be a talented programmer. After the death of his parents, he began to hack the security systems of small banks to ensure the existence of himself and his adoptive grandfather.

His hacker’s nickname is Karma Tiger. He chose the word “karma” because he wants to be the baddest karma ever for those who are guilty of his parents’ death. He is searching for these people now for taking revenge.

Also he is kinda worldwide web Robin Hood and Don Corleone in a one person. He hates injustice, so he always helps everyone who is in trouble or can’t get a fair decision on the state of justice. For example, he hacks bank accounts of those responsible for the crime and transfers money to the victims.

He does love dumb pictures with dumb cats (like the last one).

Also he сollects old consoles and games, such as Super Mario Bros,  Sonic the Hedgehog (he secretly loves to play with Tails), Crush Bandicoot, Tekken 3 etc

Anonymously works for the government, although he doesn’t trust them. He is strongly sure that they are guilty of the death of his parents no less than the actual killers.

Yura is famous among hackers. He is a recognized genius, with whom few people dare to compete.

Once he received an order to hack the data of a terrorist organization. But, surprisingly, he found out that the network had already been hacked by someone. He found the signature of the hacker - “Goldminer” - which was hidden in the code. 

That’s how first online meeting of Yura and Otabek happened.

10 songs for Otayuri (canon & AUs)

Once I saw awesome playlists thread dedicated to Otayuri, so I decided to make mine! It’s 10 song playlist with Yura and Beka vibes, canon and au stories and feelings. 

While riding longboard I often listen to music and think of some kind tv-series featuring Yura and Otabek in different AUs. This time my current playlist transforms into “original sound tracks” %)

Sometimes lyrics suprisingly fit the au story or canon things. That’s why I added highlights of some lyrics down. 

Hope you’ll enjoy it! ✨   

1.  방탄소년단 (BTS) – Boys meet evil

Namjoon is reading Hermann Hesse’s “Demian” lines in the begining of MV  - it definitely hits into my headcanon about classic literature fan Otabek. But moreover it suits Otayuri Mafia AU pretty damn good. Also lyrics (translated here). Just read and imagine Beka dying in overthinking about everything:

I don’t know, Big city citizens AU? (well… it’s technically canon). It’s pretty sad but with feeling of hope tho. The one of them (I can’t decide who ok) is so much alone and, you know, it hurts. But he tries to refuse it.  

Actually he needs the other to come (maybe they don’t know each other by that moment) and not to be coldhearted as the rest in this big-big LA\Saint-Petersburg\Almaty\put your city here.

Honestly this was my the very first song where I started to think of some Otayuri headcanons. CAUSE IT’S PERFECT FOR DOMESTIC OTAYURI and domestic hcs is my weak. 

It is also pretty sad ‘cause of the little taste of…not breaking up, but parting with one another (competitions and trainings in different countries). 

My heart just breaks every time when I think how Yura comes back to their empty flat after airport’s farewell with Otabek. Also I imagine Yura’s flashbacks about domestic things with Beka (going to grocery, cuddling in bed etc oh eh well I literally start to cry)

4.  Saint Motel – Ace In The Hole

It might be Otayuri Mafia AU and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels AU as well. Just imagine: two genious poker players smashed the casino with their incredible math-counting-poker-i-don't-know-what-else skills 💥 But song is actually about their first meeting (Beka watches Yuri to be exact). 

Time for your ace in the hole, Beka.

Put your hands up, Before she turns and walks away. This is your one shot, Time for your ace in the hole. 

Personally I love this lines:

Perfect lines for Yura in cheetah-printing furcoat.

5.  The Moffats – Bang Bang Boom!

I made a separate post about this gem among otayuri songs earlier. Just. Yeah. “Devil in disguise” and everything. 

Also pay attention to the name of the song - we all know how good is Otabek at making Ota-bang-bang-booms. %) 

So yes, it’s about canon Otayuri I suppose. Plus dating headcanons and living together (first lines).

Every time I listen to it, I hear “Yura Yura Yura, do ya do ya do ya know what are you doing to me?” and no one can stop me. Also it reminds me @iamatrashfan‘s Otayuri Band AU a lottt. I just imagine Beka singing this song in the club, standing on the scene, looking only into Yura’s eyes in crowd (yeah, such a cliche but bUt BUT)

7.  OK Go – A Million Ways

Another song for Otayuri Mafia AU (I remember @kawaiilo-ren works e ve e r y tim e e e), where Yura is teasing, toying, turning, chatting, charming, hissing, playing the crowd. He is in a playful mode, yeah. And Beka is just sufferinnnn. See for yourself:

There is no need to comment I suppose. Pretty obviously, huh? Actually I have a lot of Otayuri headcanons based on AM’s songs. And I think that Beka is a huge fan of them and definitely shows Yura this band (their earlier works such as Crying Lightning). Otabek is in love with the last album tho, I know it.  

9.  Big Bang (빅뱅) – BOYGIRLFRIEND

Honestly it just makes me think of Otayuri in general.

This song and Last dance by Big Bang as well. Warning: will make you cry and imagine otayuri slow last dance.

10.  Bryce Fox – Horns

I found this song only today but this is about Otayuri Mafia AU. Yup, I’m huge fan of this AU.
