Here are Seven of the Most Common Computer Problems that you can resolve with the basic technical know how:
 1. Blue Screen of Death
The blue screen of death STOP Error may appear to be one of the scariest computer problems that could happen. But all you really need to address this problem is to reboot your computer. This STOP error appears on your screen for such reasons as failing hardware, damaged software, corrupt DLL files, problems with drivers and others. The remedy for a blue screen of death depends on the original problem. The screen provides you with codes that can help you identify and fix your computer problems.Â
2. The PC Wonât Turn On
You hit the power button and nothing happens. Any number of things can cause this computer problem â it may be something as simple as a loose cord, or as serious as a dead power supply. The simple cause may just be anything from a dead or unplugged monitor to a dead hard drive or corrupted boot sector.

Reasons Why Computer Technicians Important for Business Solutions
Some technicians provide on-site services usually at an hourly rate. Others can provide services off-site, where the client can drop off at the repair shop. Some have pickup and drop off services for convenience. Some technicians may also take back old equipment for recycling.
All these needs for computer repair are done with dispatch and efficiency by an experts from Computer IT Support in Melbourne. While computer hardware configuration varies widely, repair technicians will work with five general categories of hardware â desktop computers, laptops, servers, computer clusters and smartphones/mobile computing.
Computer Technicians also work on and occasionally repair a range of peripherals, including input devices like keyboards, mice, and scanners; output devices like displays, printers and speakers; and data storage devices such as internal and external hard drives and disk arrays. Technicians involved in system administration might also work with networking hardware, including routers, switches, fiber optics, and wireless networks.
When possible, pc support will protect the computer userâs data and settings, so that, after repair, the user will not have lost any data and can fully use the device with little interruption. Addressing the issue, the technician could take action on it as a minor issue such as adjusting one or several settings or preferences. So does applying more techniques like installing, uninstalling, or reinstalling various software packages.
How to Find the Right Computers that Suit Your Needs
The trend in PC and laptop sales increasingly leans toward laptops, especially for home and school use. For these purposes, laptops have been found to offer more flexibility and with wireless internet access all over campus, they can be truly mobile and can work from anywhere on campus including the library and other areas where students gather. But other people who have been using a PC for years and have not encountered any problems with it see no need to change their preference. So when these people find a need to get a new computer, they transact business for a PC unit.
Numbers of Buying PC and Laptop
While laptops, tablets and ipads have made enormous progress in recent years in appealing to college students and home users, PCs have continued their brisk sale as well in the business world and even in homes. Computer shops say they get an almost equal numbers of consumers for PC and Laptop Sales. Both types of computer buyers get by just fine with their choice since itâs the software on the computer that really makes the difference.
Advantage and Disadvantage Between Desktop and Laptop
When working on group projects it can be very convenient to have your computer with you and many students enjoy taking notes in class right on their computer. When buying a laptop, users want one that is durable as they do take a beating over time. Â Most specify at computer stores that they want a 3-year warranty as hardware-failure rates in laptops are greater than desktops. Students that choose desktops are usually people that use their computer for other things that require the flexibility of upgrades. Gamers, video editors, and musicians often choose desktops because they can be more powerful and can easily be upgraded. The disadvantage is of course mobility, and when traveling between college and home it can be quite annoying to have to bring your desktop and monitor with you.
Other buyersâ Specifications that Computer Stores often Deal with Include:

PC Repair Tips: How to Recover Lost or Deleted Data
Worries about lost data or deleted data? Here you can find some solutions that might help you repairing your system. You need to understand some common errors why does it happen, how to prevent it, what are the things you must do about it and if you can still recover any lost or deleted data.
Flickr Image via ComLand Design
Data recovery is the process of salvaging and handling the data through the data from damaged, failed, corrupted, or inaccessible secondary storage media when it cannot be accessed normally. Often the data are being salvaged from storage media such as internal or external hard disk drives, solid-state drives (SSD), USB flash drive, storage tapes, CDs, DVDs, RAID, and other electronics. Recovery may be required due to physical damage to the storage device or logical damage to the file system that prevents it from being mounted by the host operating system (OS).
The most common data recovery scenario involves an operating system failure, accidental damage etc., in which case the goal is simply to copy all wanted files to another disk. This can be easily accomplished using a Live CD, many of which provide a means to mount the system drive and backup disks or removable media, and to move the files from the system disk to the backup media with a file manager oroptical disc authoring software. Such cases can often be mitigated by disk partitioning and consistently storing valuable data files (or copies of them) on a different partition from the replaceable OS system files.
Another scenario involves a disk-level failure, such as a compromised file system or disk partition, or a hard disk failure. In any of these cases, the data cannot be easily read. Depending on the situation, solutions involve repairing the file system, partition table or master boot record, or hard disk recovery techniques ranging from software-based recovery of corrupted data, hardware-software based recovery of damaged service areas (also known as the hard driveâs âfirmwareâ), to hardware replacement on a physically damaged disk. If hard disk recovery is necessary, the disk itself has typically failed permanently, and the focus is rather on a one-time recovery, salvaging whatever data can be read.
In a third scenario, files have been âdeletedâ from a storage medium. Typically, the contents of deleted files are not removed immediately from the drive; instead, references to them in the directory structure are removed, and the space they occupy is made available for later overwriting. In the meantime, the original file contents remain, often in a number of disconnected fragments, and may be recoverable.
Recovering data from physically damaged hardware can involve multiple techniques. Some damage can be repaired by replacing parts in the hard disk. This alone may make the disk usable, but there may still be logical damage. A specialized disk-imaging procedure is used to recover every readable bit from the surface. Once this image is acquired and saved on a reliable medium, the image can be safely analyzed for logical damage and will possibly allow much of the original file system to be reconstructed.
Before reviewing the below recommendations and suggestions, verify that the files have been deleted. In some cases the files may have been moved. You can search the hard drive for the files you believe to be missing by running find or search on the computer. If the file has been backed up to floppy disk or other medium you can have that file restored from that backup if the file cannot be found.
You can also restore from Recycle Bin or Trash. If you are running Mac OS or Microsoft Windows and the file has been recently deleted it may still be in the Trash or Recycle Bin. If present within this area it can be recovered.
To recover a deleted file from the Trash or in your Recycle Bin, you can download freeware program or purchase a program. When a file is deleted (even when removed from the Recycle Bin) the files are marked as deleted, however it is not removed from the hard drive. Assuming no other file has overwritten the deleted file on the hard drive a recovery program can be used to recover deleted files. The freeware file recovery programs that can be used freely to recover such lost data.
Lists of Recommended Tools to Restore or Recover Deleted Files:
Recuva â (Wikipedia) is a data recovery program for Windows, developed by Piriform. It is able to recover files that have been âpermanentlyâ deleted and marked by the operating system as free space. The program can also be used to recover files deleted from USB flash drives, memory cards, or MP3 players.
Restoration â (CNET) Restoration has a good job of resurrecting files, folders, and clusters in all of our tests, and we were impressed with both its scan and recovery speeds. On the downside, Restoration offers few extra features, though you can choose to permanently delete any items the program recovers.
Undelete Plus â(CNET) is a way to retrieve accidentally deleted files, files removed from the Recycle Bin, in a DOS window, from a network drive, from Windows Explorer with the SHIFT key held down.
FreeUndelete â (Wikipedia) is a freeware data recovery software utility, running under Microsoft Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2003 and 2000. FreeUndelete supports NTFS and FAT file systems. The program allows users to recover files that have been permanently deleted from Windows Recycle Bin.
Photorec â (Wikipedia) Itis a free and open source file carver data recovery software tool designed to recover lost files from digital camera memory (CompactFlash, Memory Stick, Secure Digital, SmartMedia, Microdrive, MMC, USB flash drives, etc.), hard disks and CD-ROMs.
PC Inspector File Recover â (CNET) PC Inspector File Recoveryis a data recovery program that supports the FAT 12/16/32 and NTFS file Finds partitions automatically, even if the boot sector or FAT has been erased or damaged (does not work with the NTFS file system).
Drive Image by PowerQuestâ (CNET) Reduce your risk by protecting your data with PowerQuestâs Drive Image 7. You can quickly create hard drive images for backup to protect your data.
In addition to the above freeware programs there are also several companies that have created programs designed to recover your lost data.

PC and Laptop Sales: Things to Know When Buying a Computers
We live in a technology-driven world today with computers at the center of it. Computers have become the technology device of almost everyday use for individuals of every age. The only variation in peopleâs acquisition and use of computers is that some people prefer PCs or desktops while others stick with laptops. This essentially depends on whether one is buying a computer for simple home use or for business.
Image via techshout.com
Whether itâs a PC or laptop you need, here are some Important Things to look for and what to ask when purchasing a new computer:
 Image via electrocomputerwarehouse.com
Take a used or refurbished computer. A refurbished computer is one that has been returned to the company, checked out as good but cannot be sold again as new. All major computer manufacturers have a refurbished section showing all their available refurbished products. Buying one of these computers instead of a new computer can save you hundreds of dollars.

Consider the size. Â If portability is your main concern, then you need to consider a notebook that has a smallish screen and a light weight. Any laptop marketed as an Ultrabook should fit your bill here since this is designed to be slim and light. Â Look for a laptop with a screen thatâs 12.5-13.3 inches in size, and a weight that is from 1-1.5kg.
Image via ecw.com
Look at the screen quality. Youâll be staring at your laptop for many hours every day, so you want to make sure you get a screen that is comfortable to look at. Many laptops these days also have touch screens, which means they are glossy. Glossy screens lead to reflections, so consider a laptop that doesnât have a touch screen.
Look at the resolution. Â A 1920x1080-pixel resolution (aka Full HD) should be considered if you want plenty of space to line up windows and keep things in view. Â Also, the viewing angles are extremely important. Â A laptop screen that touts IPS (in-plane switching) technology offers the widest viewing angles and the best user comfort. If possible, go into a store and see the screen for yourself. Otherwise, rely on multiple reviews to get a good overview of the product.
Image via apcmag.com
See the keyboard quality. Â For long typing sessions, you must get a laptop that has a comfortable keyboard. You donât want to get a keyboard that packs in every key under the sun (think keyboards that have squished in number pads) because that can translate to a poor overall user experience when hunting for keys like the arrows. You want a keyboard that has a comfortable layout with full-sized keys and some space around the arrow keys. The keys should have adequate travel on the downstroke and snappy responsiveness when you let them go. Make sure the keyboard is also backlit, so that you can type with an easier view on the keys in dimly lit environments.
Get an all-purpose computer. If you want to do a little bit of everything or plan to share your laptop amongst family members, you can consider anything from an inexpensive 15-incher that mostly stays in your living room to a lightweight 11- or 13-inch system you carry around the house. Whether youâre a traveling executive or a student, your main goal is writing and editing text, manipulating spreadsheets and creating presentations. So youâll want a laptop with a good keyboard, durable design and sharp screen.
If you play high-end games, go for a laptop with an equally high-end Core i7 processor, top-of-the-line discrete graphics (perhaps even dual cards), a high-res screen and strong speakers. Â If you edit video, photos or illustrations for a living, you need a laptop with a powerful processor, discrete graphics, a Solid State Drive (SSD) and a large and high-res display. Â If you plan to give your laptop to the kids or use it as an adjunct to your main PC, you can go with a low-cost laptop or a Chromebook that runs Googleâs browser-centric OS.
You have to figure out just how portable you need your laptop to be. Laptops are usually categorized by their display sizes. Contact our Business IT Support to get more information and details for PC and Laptop Sales. Please visit www.mscs.com

Computer World has reported a news about Google teamed up with scientists of the University of California-Santa Barbara to build cutting-edge processors that raise the quantum computing business to previously unreached heights. The revolutionary artificial intelligence (AI) product is a new computer system that could perform multiple calculations simultaneously. This means a vastly increased processing power.
Credits: Google/UC Santa Barbara
According to an announcement from Computer World, the Google-UCSB partnership is Googleâs second major foray into the quantum computing field.  When the D-Wave Systems released in 2013 the $15-million D-Wave 2, its first âself-proclaimedâ quantum computer, Google bought one, and launched a new lab to test the deviceâs powers. Googleâs lab subsequently announced a discovery that provided strong evidence for quantum effects in the computer.
The Google-UCSB group will collaborate with D-Wave scientists, experimenting on an upgraded machine with a 1,000-qubit processor. Earlier this year, the UCSB team published a paper in Nature featuring a five-qubit array. It showed advances in correcting certain errors that can occur during the fragile conditions that create quantum effects, according to the Journal. It was hoped that the new project will yield technology that âwill not lose its memoryâ as fast as earlier hardware.
Hereâs the report from Computer World on the marvelous uses of the new Quantum Computing Processors:
âQuantum computers aim to use properties of subatomic particles to perform calculations millions of times faster than conventional computers. The way these new computers will work is radically different. While computers today use electrical transistors to represent binary code (a digital language where strings of ones and zeros combine to create commands that the machine will follow), quantum computers will use qubits-âor quantum bits-âwhich rely on laws of quantum mechanics to achieve multiple states at once. The ability to hold multiple states at the same time is an aspect of quantum mechanics called superposition. This notion holds that any physical object, such as an atom or electronâwhat quantum computers use to store informationâcan exist in all of its theoretical states simultaneously. This could take parallel computing to new heights.â
Scientists with the group believe the combination of the Google researchers with those of UCSB Martinis will make pioneering advances in quantum control and quantum information processing. Â The journal Nature is quoted as saying: âWith an integrated hardware group the Quantum AI team will now be able to implement and test new designs for quantum optimization and inference processors based on recent theoretical insights as well as our learning from the D-Wave quantum annealing architecture.â
If the Google-UCSB team succeeds in makings this breakthrough, it will transform into reality what has been considered a field that remains in the realm of science fiction. UCSB wrote: âA fully functional quantum computer is one of the holy grails of physics.âÂ
This only shows that experts in artificial intelligence continue to break the boundaries on the functions of computers, which mean more ease and sophistication for us computer users around the world. The production of quantum computers enhances our numbers-crunching ability, a big leap forward from the current systems which only allow us to compute one set of figures at a time.

A new Windows operating system is about to be launched by Microsoft to give the cyberworld a new alternative to the long-in-use Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows Vista.  To be tagged as Windows 9, the launch is set on September 30, a few months into the stewardship of Satya Nadella who took over as Microsoft CEO early this year.Â
In regards to USAToday story âReport: Microsoft to reveal Windows 9 next monthâ, the Verge reports about the Microsoft plans for an event which will be held on the Sept. 30. The report will support "sources familiar with Microsoft's plan".
Microsoft is planning to unveil its Windows 8 successor next month at a special press event. Sources familiar with Microsoftâs plans tell The Vergethat the software maker is tentatively planning its press event for September 30th to detail upcoming changes to Windows as part of a release codenamed "Threshold." This date may change, but the Threshold version of Windows is currently in development and Microsoft plans to release a preview version of what will likely be named Windows 9 to developers on September 30th or shortly afterwards. The date follows recent reports from ZDNet that suggested Microsoft is planning to release a preview version of Windows 9 in late September or early October.
The early technology preview will give developers a first look at the new mini Start Menu in Windows 9, alongside the removal of the Charms bar feature and several UI changes. Microsoft is currently compiling builds of Threshold ready for the preview that include an early version of Cortana, but itâs not clear if this particular feature will be made available as part of the technology preview.
While Threshold is likely to be named Windows 9, itâs unlikely that Microsoft will name its upcoming Windows release at its press event. Instead, Microsoft is said to be planning an overview of key new features of the upcoming operating system, with a technical preview ready for developers and enthusiasts. Microsoft is also building a separate combined version of Windows RT and Windows Phone, and the company may take the time to detail this work during its press event. Either way, Microsoftâs next version of Windows is nearing completion and the company will be ready to talk more about it next month.
The event will showcase several upgrades to the user interface and may even include Cortana, Microsoft's voice assistant. The new Windows OS would be the first launch under Satya Nadella, who took over as CEO of Microsoft earlier this year. Nadella has focused on shifting Microsoft toward a strategy aimed at the mobile and cloud space. Earlier this year, Microsoft announced it was cutting up to 18,000 jobs over the next year, most of which are related to the acquisition of Nokia's handset business, which the company closed in April.â
A new Windows operating system is very much welcome owing to some complaints that the existing Windows OS have become vulnerable to hackers and malware. It is hoped that the new Windows 9, being an improvement over the other Windows, will boast of more features that would effectively protect users against viruses, spyware and all kinds of malicious, deceptive or unwanted software.Â

PCWorld Report said, The data breach caused by âBackoffâ is now reckoned as one of the largest in recent memory, resulting in tens of millions of credit and debit cards being captured. It is believed responsible for the recent data breaches at Target, SuperValu supermarkets and UPS stores. In the case of SuperValu, at least 180 of its stores had been hit by a data breach and earlier this week UPS said 51 of its UPS Store locations had been hit.
According to PCWorld (US warns âsignificant numberâ of major businesses hit by Backoff malware), It took a stern cyber-security alert from the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to raise public awareness of yet another computer virus that specifically targets small and medium businesses. The DHS actually first warned of this malware called âBackoffâ in July 2013 but few took the warning seriously. Now, the DHS reports that over 1,000 small and medium businesses and major enterprise networks have been compromised.
The DHS said that the Backoff malware âis capable of scraping the memory contents of point of sales systems for data swiped by stores from credit cards, from monitoring the keyboard and logging strokes and from communicating with a remote server.â Point of sales systems refer to the use of cash registers and other terminals at checkout counters of stores.
As for the mode of attack, hackers usually gain access to machines through brute-force attacks on remote log-in systems provided by companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google and other third-party vendors. Once inside, they are able to copy the malware to the machine and set it to capturing credit card data.
The good news is that most antivirus packages can now detect Backoff. So if youâre a network operator, you would do well to download and install antivirus software and update your computer regularly. These can help permanently remove unwanted software and prevent it from being installed in the first place.
Apart from updating your software, it is also helpful to use a firewall and adjust your Internet Explorer security settings from time to time. Using a firewall is like locking the front door to your house to keep intruders (or hackers). As for Windows firewall, this is included in Windows and is turned on by default. On security settings, do this in your Internet Explorer web browser to specify how much or how little information you want to accept from a website.
