millerlit is a private, selective roleplay blog for evan miller, an original character for resident evil. focused on the politics of the universe.
there will be politics on this blog. there will be controversial takes on this blog. my opinions as a writer are not necessarily the same as my character's. my primary goal is to explore what the world of resident evil looks like from the perspective of those not directly involved with bioterrorism or the events of the games.

- there will be politics on this blog. i am repeating it because it's important. my politics do not necessarily align with evan's, so do not assume they do. topics will include eugenics, body horror, and general horror.
- because of the above, i will not engage first.
- standard roleplay rules apply.
- tags will be formatted as '[thing] cw' and i will be diligent about tagging topics. if i miss something or you need something specific, please let me know.
- while the goal here is to explore the politics, the franchise's canon is vast, 30 years old, and convoluted. i will not claim to know everything about every game let alone extended canon. if i make mistakes, please feel free to correct me, but do not assume i know everything.

"So what is the truth? We were expected to believe that US involvement with bioterrorism was a conspiracy theory even after Benford formed the DSO and was then killed, and now look what happened in Wrenwood. We'd still be in the dark if Ashcroft and Kennedy hadn't gotten out of Raccoon City alive. And the US government is still trying to tell us that they had no involvement with Umbrella? Fucking unreal."
Evan leaned back in his chair, eyes not leaving his chat as hundreds of messages scrolled by before he could read most of them. It was early in the morning, but there was no possibility of sleep after getting woken up by several phone calls alerting to him to what was happening. He probably shouldn't have fallen asleep at all after he'd seen the news that Wrenwood was on lockdown, but he was glad he had; he'd be able to stave off the exhaustion for the next several hours, at least.
"They don't care about us. They don't care about any of you. It's all about money, money, money." He was aware of the irony as he sat in his million dollar home with thousands of dollars of streaming equipment. "We need politicians we can trust, but who the hell is that? Everyone's going to jump on this as a hot button issue and tell us what we want to hear. And we still haven't even heard the official statement from the White House."
He tilted his head. "And are we going to hear anything from the BSAA? They were on the scene too, but not a fucking peep from them yet."
"There's a lot I could say about the 4th that's been said by other people, so I'll leave most of that to them. Just remember that your tax money is being used to fund bioweapons the government claims don't exist, to fight in wars they tell you are for your safety but are actually for monetary gain. And those bioweapons were people once."
chris has the hound wolf squad and whether or not this is public knowledge, it's pretty clear that chris does whatever the hell he wants
official record only shows chris leaving the air force after disobeying orders, so that's suspicious
chris got suspended from STARS/RPD after punching another officer in the face
the BSAA was involved with dulvey and we don't really know what the public knows about what happened aside from alyssa's article on people going missing, but evan assumes the BSAA is hiding something
rosemary winters. we don't know what exactly the world knows about her, but i think it's safe to assume people know she's a bioweapon and chris redfield is involved. i'll expand on this later when i make a post about rose (but evan DOES think she deserves to be treated like a person first and foremost) but evan thinks he's grooming her to be a personal bioweapon of the BSAA, and that he's a hypocrite
i think a big thing i'm excited to explore is what is and isn't public knowledge. we know a lot of things are hidden from the public. that's why evan is a huge supporter of alyssa ashcroft (specifically referring to @metmydeadline because cas has done such a phenomenal fucking job with alyssa).
a lot of it will simply have to be headcanon-based, but i think after requiem's ending we can assume a lot of shit will start to become public knowledge. we know/can assume that most of cast has been under surveillance and likely sworn to secrecy under threat/duress. i think some things (i.e. STARS trying to investigate umbrella in 1998 but getting shut down & disbanded) will be thrust into the spotlight after being buried for so long. and i think this will cause a dramatic shift in public opinion (for example, evan really dislikes chris redfield because he thinks the BSAA allows him too much freedom without oversight. because the general public only knows that he got suspended from STARS for punching another officer in the face; if evan/the public learns that this was intentional so that chris could go investigate umbrella in europe? that changes things)
the question then becomes how much of the truth was rumored, seen as a conspiracy theory, or seen as fact? how many rumors and conspiracies exist that AREN'T true?
with all this said, i'm heavily planning this with @kismetheld and more than happy to hear thoughts/opinions. if you have specific things with your characters that you think are public, private, rumored, or literally anything? please let me know because i'd love to discuss/include it in evan's canon.
