Anyway long story short I got a new switch and forgot to transfer my save data, so I ended up resetting RF5. Again.

But I did manage to meet Ludmila. She’s uh…

I was on the verge of choosing Ryker because we both use dual blades, but now I’m torn. Should I go for Ludmila or Ryker?

Finally caught up to where I was, going to make a big post Sunday once I hopefully unlock Ludmilla. But today I’d like to get the People’s voices.

Who are you picking to marry and why? Without spoiling anything.

Rune Factory 5 has been fantastic

One thing I’m really liking is the huge lands you can just explore, the only places blocked are story-related dungeon. You can go all the way to the ends of the map if you want (if you survive) and can use the seal spell to swipe items from stronger monsters. It makes me a lot less rushed to complete the story compared to RF4. In RF4 I always raced to begin the second part of the story because you needed to going into Part 2 to unlock seasonal crystal seeds. Here I just love running around latter areas where fake turnips could body me.

You can also just warp directly to bosses you defeated though I don’t know if you can farm boss items like you could in RF4. I think that the points villagers earn in festivals are determined before the day, so save scumming doesn’t do much unless you somehow get a higher score. You can just load saves if you want to try again, so no need to shut the whole thing off. Beware though if you load on festival days you might find most of the villagers decided to take a swim in the sea (don’t worry they phase back into the plaza by the time you arrive)

I’m upset that I ended up saving over my latter save, but I’m not that annoyed. I’m not in any rush, plus I get to make dual blades after realizing I’m really liking the blades. In RF4 I preferred the spear for its reach but in RF5 I like getting up close and fast. The targeting is definitely a learning curve though but who cares when with the dual blades you can spin like this.

Btw you can skip cutscenes and press Y to skip through dialogue. Beware though, because villagers will say new dialogue BEFORE they discuss the weather.

If I could only play as the male protagonist a la rune factory 1-3, there’s no way I’d consider Lucy. She has first girl syndrome vibes which was why I wasn’t a fan of Mist or Mana, but it hits So Differently with the female protagonist. They put something in the water that makes queer ‘first ___’ relationships infinitely better than their straight counterparts.

Important Note on Events: Part of an Event can be Time-Restricted, meaning you have to meet at an event before a certain time in order to trigger the next part.

Sincerely, someone who’s still on Martin’s first event because they didn’t realize you had to meet at the inn before 7pm.
