a wild encounter !!
A champion’s duties were not something one should ever think lightly of. After a week of what was mostly flying around all over the place to do things, Ailis was exhausted to the point she was too reckless to simply sit or lay down to get her heart rate to calm down. So like any regular exhausted person, she took a day off, and not just anywhere either. What could help a person relax more than the hot springs in Lavaridge Town?
Those hot springs were one reason why she was thankful that she had actually ended up staying in Hoenn and living there. Not many other regions had a massive volcano and hot springs to brag about.
When Ailis arrived and sunk down into the warm water, it was peaceful. She leaned against the edge and let her body sink down to the point she had water up to her throat, and let out a deep and long sigh. “I really needed this now… It’s nice, isn’t it, Kuro?” The blonde looked at the Zoroark next to her, who looked more like someone who had just tagged along without really wanting this.
But the peace and quiet was quickly interrupted by another pokémon that suddenly jumped into the hot spring like it was a pool, splashing the warm water everywhere. “What the—” Ailis was about to speak up, but someone else beat her to the punch. Puzzled, she looked at the girl. “Aren’t you Millia, the gym leader in this town?”
It’s quite hard to remember someone you’ve never met that you’re supposed to know. Millia had certainly seen her face before, she was sure of it, but the pair had never really met face to face. Unfortunately, she could not figure out, for the life of her, where she had seen the blonde before. Being far too shameful to feign recognition, Millia merely smiled at the presumably older woman and answered her question.
“ Yes, I am Millia. And your name? ” She felt a bit silly for not being able to recognize someone who could clearly recognize her, but Millia thought it best to be honest as opposed to entangling herself in a brutal string of lies.
She then noticed that the blonde was not alone. A rather healthy looking Zoroark sat close to her, it’s muscles tense despite the soothing qualities of the warm waters. “ Your pokémon... he’s very healthy and strong. You must put a lot of time into training him, ” her words adopted a tone of admiration and respect. She sensed that the stranger was strong in both character and ability, and decided that she quite liked her.
Birds of a feather flock together, after all.
