nostalgia;
The clerk attending the counter was hasty to return with a newspaper, folded neatly down the centre albeit somewhat crushed. Now, it was simply a matter of waiting for his food to. Yet again, the article about the Unova League caught his attention. Regina poked inquisitively at the paragraphs with her beak and listened to her trainer’s small mutterings intently, used to Quinn’s constant chattering.
“Look here.” A pointer finger came to rest on one image. “He’s a very young Elite Four member.” Regina gave a small cluck in response. An order number and ding of a bell signalled that Quinn’s order had arrived and he turned back to retrieve it. “Oh, thank you.”
To make space for the others waiting in the queue he stepped aside, rustling open the brown paper parcel to take a bite of the croissant inside. Instead of having Regina hassle him for a piece of it, as she usually did, she had become preoccupied with something else. Following her gaze, Quinn was a mere arm’s length away from a Musharna that floated in front of him. Past the Pokemon, he could see someone rushing towards them. Someone familiar. He couldn’t quite place who it was, as if—oh.
It was the boy whose image was displayed on the front page of the newspaper Quinn held. For several moments he peered up awkwardly at the Elite, suddenly remembering to swallow a mouthful of food; it was a wonder he hadn’t choked.
“Y-you’re the one from the newspaper,” was all Quinn managed to choke out, glancing back down at the article. It was definitely the same person. “Ah, u-um,” he pointed at the Musharna. “Is this your Pokemon?”
『 ♚ 』 — <“Hey! Hey!! HEY!!!!” He continued to scream hoping that maybe Matto would come back. Of course, that was never going to happen. “Tch!! I’m sorry... He usually isn’t like this.”
Both irritated and embarrassed by his pokemon’s behavior, Akira was more than ready to scold his Musharna on the spot. After all, he did expected some maturity from his team. They’re were in the public eye, so it wouldn’t do him any good if him and his team were to cause a scene. But it didn’t seem like Matto cared. He just let out a noise that mimicked laughter and floated atop his trainers head, snuggling with him in order to calm him down though Akira wasn’t going to let it slide that easily.
Or so he thought...
“Newspaper...?” Genuinely confused, his attention shifted towards the young man’s words. Honestly he had no clue what he was talking about. Then his eyes peered down and he began to understand what the other had meant. His name in the headlines, he started to remembered being a part of a recent interview from a while back. “Oh... Uh, yeah. That’s me.”
