Here's my StaticApple Fanchild: Vivian !
Everyone say hi to my StaticApple Fanchild, Vivian !
If you're curious about his story (or if you have a lot of time to waste), you can read it right there ! I've done my best to be as brief as possible but I may have failed that. Well, oopsie~
I still have a LOT in mind about him (doodles, AU ideas, relationships dynamics with other characters, fun facts, etc.) but I thought it would be unecessary and overwhelming.
Anyway, please enjoy your time with my silly little boy~
Name: Vivian
Birthday: 28/04
Gender: Non-binary (He/They)
Quick context: Vivian is my StaticApple fanchild. His creation was a bit of a joke at first since he comes from Tomodachi Life, when my Mii of Vox and Lucifer had a child together. I’ve challenged myself to draw every child I would get on my island, no matter how ridiculous the couples turned out to be. I was lucky enough to find out my firstborn was from my StaticApple couple. This child was supposed to stay that way, a simple, silly concept.
However, my love for this child had been growing over time, making me feel more and more attached to him, to the point where I did want to develop a small backstory for him. The more I dove into his family dynamics, the more I felt involved and caring about his character.
Vivian is now one of my most precious and beloved OCs despite being only two months old.
His story is segmented into multiple parts :
After the event of Season 2, Vox went and stayed in the hotel until things would settle down (See the link in the tweet for more info on that part). He and Lucifer got closer to each other and ended up in a secret relationship that almost lasted a full year. At that time, both were linked to each other by a promise; they would stay together until Lilith’s return or Vox’s comeback as an overlord. Things went pretty well between them, to the point they had been thinking about moving forward in their relationship by slowly considering a future together.
Until one day, Lilith had returned, leading them to respect their promise, and drifted away kind of brutally from each other without giving them the time to discuss it; they had made an agreement and had to respect it. Vox came back to his associates and Lucifer to his family. Everything got back to normal, as it was supposed to be.
However, things got out of hand when Lucifer discovered he got pregnant. There was no possibility it could have come from Lilith because even if he still felt a lot of affection towards her, he didn’t love her anymore, not enough to have been wanting another child. He exactly knew why he got pregnant, but he didn’t want to assume this statement, so he did what he did best and ignored his problem, living his life like nothing ever happened. He was so sure this unexpected news wouldn’t last long because he had a long history of miscarriage during his long life; he didn’t think this time could be any different. After all, he had tried for so many centuries to only have Charlie, and this was a miracle on its own. There was nothing to worry about; he was convinced this little inconvenience would disappear all by itself.
However, he had to face reality when Lilith confronted him about his pregnancy, not able to avoid telling the truth any longer. She wasn’t mad at him; she was only worried because her husband had been so distant with her since her return. Even if they acted like everything was fine, they weren’t as close as they used to be anymore. Lucifer had no other choice other than to have a proper discussion with her; it was mostly about the little affair of his, how he cheated on her because he had given up about seeing her ever again after so many years. He carefully kept the identity of his secret lover for himself, wanting to keep the promise he made to him. They agreed on the fact nobody should ever know their relationship, so Lucifer was doing anything in his power to honor that.
Trying to think about the best outcome for him, Lucifer had decided to not tell anything to Vox, keeping the news of his pregnancy for his close family only. He knew how terrible Vox was both as a sinner and as an overlord. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t have cared that much about it, but there was a baby’s life on the line, and being a lover was very different than being a father. Lucifer cared for the sake of his family; he wanted to do what was best for his child.
They didn’t get the chance to talk about a future like that, but Lucifer knew it wasn’t in Vox’s plan to be a better person, and it seemed unlikely he would even try to be a good father either. He wasn’t even sure he may want to be one in the first place, and since Lucifer wasn’t ready to face a possible rejection, he preferred not to take the risk at all. The media overlord had a lot of projects and Lucifer had his doubts that would involve a “happy family life". He simply acted first, for once.
Over time, he announced the news to Charlie, who got worried about her parents’ divorce rather than anything else. She didn’t see it coming at all, and it was a stressful situation to overcome for her, but she got used to it somehow, thanks to the support of her mother. She wasn’t the happiest knowing her dad cheated on her mom. She was unsure how to act towards him after knowing the truth, especially since he didn’t want to drop the name of his secret lover. The only person who knew the entire story behind that pregnancy was Alastor because he had intercepted them in the middle of their “fun time" once. He kept the secret until the end, in hope of blackmailing them at some point, and waited for the right moment to come.
When he heard Lucifer was having a baby and didn’t plan to tell it to Vox, he was thrilled. He was curious how far Lucifer was ready to go for the baby’s sake and wanted to witness his slow dive into desperation by making bad decisions after one another, all while suffering from the guilt he built by himself. He knew it would end up in a mess for both Vox and the king, making them miserable because of guilt, regret, and resentment that would eventually grow over time. So he did nothing and waited patiently, watching him from far away.
On the other hand, Vox had absolutely no idea of what was going on at the hotel. He got his life back, and that was all that mattered to him, even if that wasn’t entirely true. He did his best to not cling to his relationship with Lucifer because he knew it wasn’t supposed to last eternally. Vox had been hurt because he made the mistake to love someone else again, and he could barely tolerate it. Almost all of the progress he made at the hotel became pointless, making him dive even harder onto his old habits. All he wanted was to expand his brand, to be noticed and respected. Not even Lucifer would be able to look away like he didn’t matter.
That was it, the core of Vivian’s existence: made out of love but trapped in guilt.
During his childhood:
Vivian was born out of wedlock, and since he wasn’t linked to Lilith, making him officially an illegitimate son. He was the result of an affair Lucifer had with someone whose identity was still unknown; Lucifer got lucky enough to have very strong genes that took over Vox’s, which helped to keep the safety of his little dirty secret. The child didn’t know anything about his second parent, and, even if he was curious about it, Lucifer had never been willing to say anything. Vivian didn’t put much thought into it, being more focused on enjoying his childhood to the fullest.
Lucifer, feeling both trapped and guilty from his secrets, tended to give in to the whims of his child. If Vivian had any interest in something, Lucifer would do anything to fulfill his will. Unfortunately for him, Vivian quickly developed unfortunate interests: one of them was about TV. Lucifer had tried to shift his attention to something else, but it was pointless; Vivian was absorbed by it every time it was on. Lucifer was feeling guilty at the idea of removing the only thing that was linked to his son, so he gave up and let him watch it together on a daily basis.
Every time the TV was on, the toddler was running towards it with a big smile on his face. To him, it was the best thing in the world. It was bright and warm, and it was so funny to watch the screen glitching by his touch. He didn’t know why, but it felt reassuring to be near it, even when there was nothing there to watch. Lucifer was trying his best to avoid as many inappropriate shows as possible and control his screentime, but it wasn’t always so easy to convince his son to stop.
The second weird interest manifested later in Vivian’s life: overlords. Since the child was allowed to stay in the hotel to spend time with his big sister, he got the chance to be in touch with her relatives, like Alastor. Vivian, as a very curious child, once he was old enough to understand a bit of Hell society, got very interested in the concept of overlords and hierarchy. Of course, it was explained to him in simplified terms and by skipping some obvious gross parts; the only thing he kept from all of these was about how powerful those demons could be, and he compared them to cool characters from cartoons he usually watched on his screens.
And that’s how Alastor got a very small and young fan. He tried to act like he didn’t care for that child, but he liked feeling admired, so he let it pass. When he noticed how pissed off Lucifer was when he was being near his kid, he gladly took his role model a bit more seriously. He quickly understood getting a bit closer to that child would be an “amusing" opportunity to torment both of his favourite toys later in life; he was a patient man after all. So, it was how Vivian got an important part of his education.
Unfortunately for Alastor, by learning more about other overlords, Vivian shifted his interest to someone else, especially on Vox. And the main reason behind that was because this man was everywhere to be seen in Hell, and marketing worked easily on a child. Vivian was also very excited about the overlord’s powers being strangely similar to his own. He quickly picked his favourite, to the great displeasure of Lucifer, who was still trying to keep his secret the best he could.
The king had learnt the hard way that, no matter what he tried to do, it eventually always led to Vox. However, he did not give up, and still tried until the moment the truth exploded in his face, the day when his son turned seven. That day, an unexpected event led Vivian to slip through the net of his relatives and left the hotel where he was celebrating his birthday with everyone. He ended up wandering in Hell and somehow managed to meet his idol, Vox. He was surprised to learn Lucifer got a second child. It was strange to ignore that fact since he was supposed to know everything happening in Hell.
Maybe it was because of nostalgia, or maybe he only wanted to torment the king a bit, but he kept the child safe until he would have decided it was time to give him back to his family. He quickly understood how much Vivian was admiring him, and even if it wasn’t coming from a highly respected demon, Vox had enjoyed the attention he got from the child. So he kept him for the entire day, playing and showing off like the idol he was.
Then, some doubts had started to come into his mind about the child’s origin. He eventually asked him about his parents and discovered from his own mouth that he only had one dad, openly saying Lilith wasn’t his mother. Vox took all the hints and was slowly putting the pieces together. It was when he finally asked for his age again that something struck him once and for all: thinking about what to do next. The situation made him furious and uncomfortable. He got a child in Hell. That was changing everything and involved a lot of questions that needed answers, and the only way he could get what he wanted was to seek them by himself.
When Vox walked Vivian to the hotel, he let him take the time to reunite with his father, who had been looking for him all day in the Pride Ring. Vox stayed silent, watching Lucifer grounding his kid for disappearing and making everyone worried sick. Everyone was uncomfortable seeing him there and was wary of his presence. He waited for the moment when Lucifer was shifting his attention to him to speak with a heavy tone.
The king didn’t argue with him and only sighed, knowing fully what this would be about. He gave Vivian to Lilith and Charlie before isolating himself with Vox in a room to have a proper conversation. Nobody wanted to acknowledge the implication of the overlord’s presence and tried to stay act as usual, welcoming the child with a warm smile and presents. When they got back in the lounge, both looked uncomfortable and stayed quiet for a while. Vox broke the silence by saying one thing in a cold tone, washing away every last doubt that could have been subsisting in anyone’s mind.
“You have one week. I’ll be getting him Saturday at the same hour. He’d better be ready.”
Vox came closer to Vivian and gave him a warmer goodbye by gently ruffling his hair, saying they were going to see each other again very soon. The child lived his best life that day, thinking it was the most unforgettable event he’d ever had, especially because it was the moment Vivian’s daily life took a massive turn. The kid who used to live a life with a single parent was now under shared custody and had to learn how to live with the other side of the family he never knew he had.
During his preteen years:
Things had changed a lot since Vivian discovered his second father’s identity, which pushed him to grow up following two complete different forms of parental upbringing. Living with Vox made him discover a whole new environment, something Lucifer would have preferred to keep far away from him until he got older.
Vivian had to face some disappointment with his parents’ behaviour. He thought discovering his second father would have been great, but things turned out to be a lot more complicated than that.
Even if Vox was still his idol, he was a bit different as a father figure. Spending time with him made him realize how imperfect he was as opposed to what he was showing in any media. He still liked him very much, but it wasn’t as easy he had thought at first. Still, Vivian adapted to his new life quicker than expected. Vivian had learned a lot of new things alongside the second part of his family. He knew how important it was to take care of his image in front of others, how to use words to his advantage, and a lot of cool tricks with his own abilities. He also kind of understood his place within his family as both the son of the king of Hell and the most powerful overlord in Hell (Vox’s own words). This put some pressure on his shoulders, which had been slowly leading him to develop a form of anxiety.
Vox had to learn parenting from scratch, but he wasn’t alone to deal with his child, so it was fine. They still had some misunderstandings here and there, but there was no problem that he hadn’t been able to solve. He loved his kid and was proud to be seen as the powerful and charismatic demon that Vivian liked to see so much through his gazing eyes.
As for Lucifer, it was hard to let go of Vivian when he was spending time with Vox. Lucifer really clung onto his son, seeking comfort in every one of their interactions. Vivian was, in a way, his second chance at fatherhood. He didn’t want to reproduce what he did with Charlie. So being away from him was very stressful; he hated when he was away for too long, but at least, Lilith was there to help him focus on other things. He was grateful to still have her by his side despite the terrible sin he committed. Despite not being her lover anymore, she still meant a lot to him, and she was still there when he needed it the most.
While growing up, he discovered the meaning and the weight of his existence. Even if his fathers loved him from the bottom of their hearts, his only existence broke everything into pieces for his family. Vivian slowly convinced himself he was the cause behind the collapse of his family and that he was the cause of their suffering. Even as a non-insightful person he was, he could sometimes see underlying sadness, guilt, and bitterness behind his relatives’ eyes.
Secretly, he had hoped to see his parents getting back together one day, or at least, to see them on good terms. He loved his family, and his biggest wish was to make them all happy and united together. The few interactions his fathers had together were arguing with each other, no matter the topic on the table. They have a very different vision about their son’s education, which often led them to argue a lot when they’re together. The underlying cause of their childish and hostile behavior was about their feelings they swept under the rug when they drifted away from each other. They didn’t feel ready to act like grown-ups and have a proper discussion on the matter, so they acted like the problem was elsewhere. Vivian never heard the full story between them; none of them were willing to talk about it.
At the end of the day, both of them are bad people trying to do their best for the sake of their beloved child in a cruel world.
Personality:
Vivian’s a curious, spontaneous, and talkative boy. It may be difficult to keep up with his train of thoughts or match his energy. He’s very disorganized in his head, and it shows by how passionate and chaotic he can be. He’s also very touchy and clingy and loves to show affection to his family. He’s also a big hugger.
He tends to imitate the behavior of his relatives to build his personality. Charlie is his favorite person in the world, and he mostly takes after her. Despite being kind most of the time, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a spoiled child, and thus, he can be kind of capricious when he doesn’t get what he wants. He doesn’t know how to handle his emotions and frustrations, making him cross the lines to try to get what he wants.
He always wants to feel useful and gives the best of himself all the time; his hardworking nature makes him clumsy and fails a lot since he usually overdoes it. He likes to feel needed; it’s his way of seeking attention, but that leads him to impose himself on others.
He doesn’t understand things the same way others do, which often leads him to misinterpret things. He feels emotions with a strong intensity regardless of their nature; he can be a bit too much to bear for others or even for himself. People often have to find a way to help him calm down when he’s too much to handle. He fakes empathy and kindness really well but doesn’t really feel it if he doesn’t involve him in any way.
Since he’s surrounded by a lot of powerful people who keep him safe wherever he goes, he doesn’t think he can be in any danger, making him reckless. He’s not the most insightful person, and since he’s well protected by his relatives, it makes him kind of naive about trusting the people around him.
He really enjoys to watch people fight against each other, especially overlords since they often have flashy abilities; the more spectacular it gets, the cooler it is ! He’s bloodthirsty but isn’t aware of it since he hasn’t got the chance to go to a battlefield yet, he only knows he becomes ecstatic when he witnesses brutal fights.
Abilities:
He has inherited a lot from Vox; that means he has some of his electric powers. He showed affinity with Vox’s powers early in his life; when he was still a toddler, he was naturally producing electrostatic energy and was unwillingly messing with Alastor’s frequency. He had been learning how to use them since he met his father. He had never used it to hurt someone else, at least not yet.
He’s convinced he doesn’t have any ability related to Lucifer’s side because he has never shown any signs of it, not with magic or body changes. He does have some hidden deep inside, though, but he has absolutely no idea. It will manifest itself the day he’ll need it the most, when his family won’t be there to protect.
Despite coming from two powerful beings, he’s kind of weak; it’s due to his naturally slow development and also because he’s still young. He’s very self-conscious about that since everyone in his family circle seems to be very strong in their own field.
