Baotou (包頭) is the wrapping and styling of the hair and headwear for dan roles (旦角; female characters) in Chinese opera. The steps include putting on a hair net, binding the scalp to lift the brows, adding hairpieces to the sides of the face and the forehead, and adding hair extensions/wigs and head ornaments. Nowadays, tape and glue are used to help keep things in place so the head doesn't have to be bound as tightly as in the past, but even so, long periods of wear can cause dizziness or nausea. I think an essential part of his brand is being missed here: for all their talk of professors indoctrinating students it was always, always college students and not college professors they wanted to debate. Because they didn’t want to actually test their ideas and arguments or expose the liberal bias of college faculty— they wanted unprepared amateurs with no formal debate training to humiliate in order to make themselves look good and smart without having to worry someone could push back. The shifting of the Overton Window was a long term goal sure, but the main thrust was always humiliating teenagers for their own entertainment and egos.
