Hmmm genuine question ATM. Recently I've gotten some shirts to sell on my storenvy account which i was planning on opening up today.

One of these was based on a sans print I had done earlier:

I have a very limited amount, as this was supposed to be more for fun than profit. But today I have gotten some mixed responses about an apparent policy announcement I was unaware of made in 2016 regarding fan merch.

This is the shirt in question. Does anyone know if the merch policy will allow me to sell them? I would like to make the money back I spent, but I don't want to do it at the expense of disrespecting the creator's wishes.

Shozenji, A Japanese LGBTQ Safe Temple Run By A Transgender Nun

Matcha reports on Soshuku Shibatani, the transgender head nun of the Shozenji Temple in Moriguchi City, Osaka. It  is Japan’s first temple built as a refuge for the LGBTQ community.

Soshuku Shibatani, a 65-year-old openly transgender Buddhist nun, was assigned male at birth: 

She began to identify as a female in elementary school but never dared to express her gender identity at the time. As a university student, she met people similar to her and briefly lived at ease among like-minded peers. However, upon entering the workforce, she had to hide her true self once more…

According to Ms. Shibatani, “Buddha saw beyond the differences of gender.”

There is no need to hide your true self. Ms. Shibatani gradually became interested in Buddhist teachings and enrolled in community courses at the Graduate School of Koyasan University. She later resigned from her company, joined the priesthood, and went on to study Esoteric Buddhism.

Ms. Shibatani stated, “Shozenji is not exclusively for the LGBTQ community, but rather a temple for everyone.”

“The Kannon Bodhisattva has no gender identity,” Soshuku Shibatani says. A statue of Kannon, the Buddhist deity of mercy, is enshrined in the temple. Others see Kannon or Guan Yin  as a female incarnation of the Buddha.

Our houses are not built for temperatures below 30°F. They’re also designed to shed heat. Good design for when it regularly gets to 100°F in the summer and winters are mild.

Homes here generally do not have furnaces. We rely on heat pumps and resistance coils, the former of which is not effective below 25°F, and the latter of which use lots of electricity

The electrical infrastructure is designed to meet demand in the afternoons in the heat of the summer, not frigid winter nights. Also, while we have a shit ton of wind and solar capacity, it’s currently crippled by frozen turbines and snowfall.

Combine all of the above and the electrical grid usage is astronomical, even when people are barely reaching 50°F indoors. The stress on the system and reduced generating capacity has caused ERCOT to start rolling blackouts as a way of preventing a mass uncontrolled blackout ala the Northeast in 2003. So that means no heat in houses that naturally shed heat, when it’s 7°F out.

Since we live in a warm place, many people don’t have clothing for this level of cold. Means a lot of people are really, really cold, and their houses are already losing heat fast.

Speaking of homes shedding heat, this also means pipes are not heavily insulated, and without proper measures taken (which many people are unaware of) that means no water.

We don’t generally keep equipment like ice scrapers and snow shovels handy. Most hardware stores don’t stock rock salt for ice. Meaning we can’t leave our homes and go anywhere if the car and roads are covered with ice. The cities don’t have snow plows. Nobody here has chains or snow tires to be able to drive safely either.

As if all of this is not already bad enough, the local plants are not evolved for this kind of freeze, including snow. So many trees are breaking under the weight and causing damage.

We’re not wimps. We’re simply not built for it, don’t have the gear for it, and don’t have instinctual level response of what to do in these situations. It’s like how the Northeast had a lot of issues after Hurricane Sandy.

“designed to shed heat” bullshit texas resisted proper insulation regs/incentives for decades in favor of very little to none. what this means is that they’re energy hungry to cool and equally energy hungry to heat, designed around a belief in eternal cheap energy that was common mid century and never fixed up.

much of the rest of the country is designed or retrofitted with insulation regimes that mean both that they preserve cool air as long as possible during summer but also reduce heat loss during winter, in both cases significantly reducing HVAC load.

and ERCOT literally only exists so whiny baby texan tax/regulation haters could tey to dodge some federal regulations which are there for good reason, and th elimited connections to other interconnects results in the fact that there’s mnimal ability to import power from elsewhere to make up short falls.

the pipes should have been properly insulated all fucking along. most of texas will experience chilly weather at some point every few weeks, even if only a few day, and besides those chilly days insulated pipes mean somewhat less of a hassle of over ly warm cold water and overly quickly disssipating heat in hot water for most of the year - yet another source of wasted energy.

Your clown developers refused to build for this, and your clown governments have refused to mandate this, and frankly this was done with majority consent of a population hopelessly addicted to MY TAXES and MY FREEDOMS  over decades. It didn’t just happen as some god-given requirement.

PS noone fucking needs snow tires just to drive on the snow. Yall need to keep your regular ass all-season tires in good condition and to simply SLOW THE FUCK DOWN AND PAY ATTENTION but of course your system refuses to believe in this necessity, because it might cost money to the state to teach it properly.
