     AVDOL did have a point. Joseph was older and far wiser than Noriaki was, and first-hand experience was often better than textbook knowledge. The teen simply nodded, getting to his feet and approaching the mentioned bag. It reminded him to check and restock his own first aid. ❝ Yes, of course. It doesn’t hurt to double or triple check something, especially if there’s potential for it to be detrimental to someone’s well being. Mr. Joestar is probably the best option. ❞

             ‘ i don’t think it’s as bad as we might think, but if you would like to stay                for a little while until all of this is figured out then you are welcome to                take a seat. ‘ it probably wouldn’t take too long to get this all sorted                 out. joseph was knowledgable about most things and would be an                 efficient source of help and guidance. that didn’t mean that the                 other was any less so. in fact, there were similarities and differences                 between the group of them that made themselves more and more                 apparent as time went on. today just happened to be one of those                 days when joseph’s minute medical knowledge presented itself in                 a younger vessel. 

             ‘ if you’d like-- i can heat up some water for tea or coffee, whichever                you prefer. ‘ the visage of magician’s red seemed to flicker for a                 moment in the space just over his shoulder before fading into a                 gentle, warm presence, nothing more.

✣ ——— Polnareff was chuckling at Avdol, but not because of the state of his hair more it was the fact that one who always poked at him for waking up last and taking long to get ready was the one who woke up late and didn’t have time to get ready.  

                    “Hey, I’m not saying it looks bad. Keep it until you feel like you have to put it up. I’m just wondering if that head of yours isn’t hurting. I remember you’re the one who kept telling to watch my drinking.”  Handing him his comb out of his side pouch, “Here, at least get the tangles out of it. If you like I could put it in a braid.” 

            ‘ your point ? ‘ that was true, he had been very stubborn in his                chastisements regarding last night’s choice of drink, quantity                included. that didn’t mean that he hadn’t had his fair share of               what was purchased. in fact, he had had quite a bit to drink,                that was definitely attributing to his late morning and splitting               headache. 

              he sighs, ‘ i can’t say i’ve ever had my hair braided before, but               if you would like to take a stab at it, i have no complaints. ‘

            the moments of peace and rest the heroes had were but             a few, but this was definitely one of them. for starters,             they weren’t outside, sleeping in the cold of the night as             they often had to for the past few weeks. being inside,             having accomodations like this, having tea, was to be             considered something of a luxury now.

            ❛  are you sure they won’t find us here? being ambushed             while we let our guard down like this would be careless,             especially since we’re close now.  ❜

          ‘ i would not be drinking tea if i didn’t have faith we             would be safe for the evening. i will keep watch              during a portion of the night and i ask that everyone             take turns, just in case things don’t align in our favor. ‘

so  close  and  yet  so  far,  the  exchange  of  progress  came  with  the  alerting  end  of  their  supplies.  both  food  and  water  had  run  out  despite  their  careful  and  limited  usage  of  it,  inevitable,  yet  it  was  only  assumed  that  they  would  have  made  it  to  their  next  resting  stop  days  ago.  despite  the  map  telling  otherwise,  the  group  had  only  come  across  a  deserted  land  of  debris  and  remains  of  concrete  foundations  snug  awkwardly  into  the  earth.  a  good  place  to  sit  and  rest  their  feet,  but  they’d  be  lying  if  they  said  it  didn’t  put  a  dent  in  their  hopefulness.

now  the  struggles  of  travelling  in  a  foreign  world  come  to  play.  yesterday  was  spent  eating  the  remains  of  trail  mix,  divided  amongst  the  five  others  as  jotaro  declined  and  passed  the  bag  to  the  next.  his  stomach  ached,  but  smoking  distracted  him  from  focusing  on  it.  his  foot  settles  onto  the  ground  in  front  him,  stopping  to  hear  avdol’s  ultimatum.  he  listens  but  doesn’t  face  him,  lifting  his  head  up  and  gazing  towards  a  distant  migration  of  animals.  those  animals  are  heading  toward  food,  he  thinks  to  himself,  if  we  keep  following,  we  can  get  there  without  losing  progress.  a  glance  to  the  others  (  tired  and  lagging  ),  and  the  thought  dissipates.

❛     …  gimme  a  break.  it’d  be  stupid  to  go  on  alone,  i  can’t  exactly  fight  dio  by  myself.  if  you’re  confident  about  what’s  over  that  hill,  i’ll  follow  you.     ❜     a  turn,  hands  settling  in  his  coat.     ❛     you  can  lead  the  way.     ❜

             ‘ we’ve given you multiple breaks... but i guess that’s besides the point. ‘                 if they were going to do anything, it would’ve been nice to actually take                the time to work together as a unit. sure, personalities clashed, ideas                 weren’t always seen and delivered in the same fashion. no matter, they                had to compromise. every one of them was vital to this journey. in order                to make things worse, thinking of the group rather than the individual                 would be key to their survival. 

             ‘ come on... it shouldn’t be much long if we pick up the pace a little bit.                 we’re all tired and need to rest for the evening. i’d much rather work                 harder to get to where we know we’ll be good for the night so if you                 can hold out until then, i would greatly appreciate it. ‘ of course, he                 was always so logical in how he thought and spoke. this was just                 another problem to be solved in the end, at least, until he could think                 back on it to really evaluate the social and emotional ties to the choices                that could’ve been made.

          NORIAKI WAS NO STRANGER TO INJURY, it practically came with a Stand. Thankfully, over the years of trying to avoid conflict, he had learned a thing or two about first aid. Stand-based injury was difficult to explain, so he considered the knowledge handy most of the time. If you’re able to, why not just do things yourself? 

     ❝ I would need more time to make a full assessment, as I am not a professional, ❞ the albinistic teen replied, withdrawing a handkerchief from his pocket to dab at the fresh blood, ❝ but we should work on at least getting it cleaned up first. Do you want me to go down to the reception and ask for some Advil? ❞

                well, he certainly wasn’t expecting an expert analysis, but it was good                 to know that someone else’s opinion matched his own. ‘ that’s alright,                  it’d be good to get out and walk a little bit. i can head down and get                 it myself, but you’re more than welcome to come along with me. ‘                  actually, it would be nice to stretch out a bit. he’d been sitting in that                  room for close to a few hours now. 

              ‘ i think i packed the bandages in that bag over on the desk. i’ll patch                  this cheek up for right now and we can always see if mr. joestar has                  a moment to take a look at it later this evening, do you think that                  would be alright ? as much as i appreciate your insight, i have a                  feeling he might’ve seen something similar to these kinds of injuries                  before. ‘

Pointing to their right, at the smoke shop where Polnareff was trying to get out of the direct heat of the sun and take advantage of replenishing his supply of cigarettes. "I promise that we won't get ambushed. S'il vous plaît..." Wiping the sweat off his forehead.

                ‘ hm ? you aren’t fairing well in the sun ? ‘ it wasn’t too bad, seeing                  as he grew up in a place where the sun was always burning and the                  sun was always hot, that is, until evening when everything would                   nearly freeze. ‘ we’re only been out here for ten minutes or so. you                   can’t possibly be suffering that badly. you put sunscreen on as well,                   right ? i told you to grab some water and put on some sunscreen--                  you did listen to me, didn’t you ? ‘

                    this was it. a nice comfortable place to sit, a hot drink; this                     was pinnacle of heaven on earth. even if it was still raining                      and thundering outdoors, he was nicely situated in the                      comfort of the indoors.
