Lara!! So happy to see you’re still around. I must ask: what scent of perfume/cologne/body wash do you think the Minamotos would like the most :D? I’ve become a lot more fond of going into stores and sniffing samples with my friends as of late, and I miss the exorcist family…

So this can go in so many directions, and a few years ago I was all about fragrances. I didn’t spend so much time thinking about what each character would wear so much as what fragrances might encapsulate them.

The Minamotos are honestly probably reaching for products that remind them of their mother, and since wearing perfumes and colognes aren’t so popular in Japan they’re probably using the same fabric softener, shampoo, and soap that she bought for them. Since Kou fulfills most of the domestic tasks in the household he’s probably the one buying things, and I could see him reaching for what he knows without really wanting to explore.

For Teru I associate him with fresh and clean scents, as that reflects the idealized image he has of himself… but he also makes me think of sweeter, more citrusy scents. Nothing too indulgent though.

Kou is someone I’ve always associated with petrichor specifically. Earthy and green. In the spring and summer after a good rain, that’s what I most associate with Kou.

Tiara’s a little girl so she probably wants to smell like cupcakes, or strawberries, or even bubble gum. She’s kind of a wildcard and she could honestly lean towards any fragrance as she ages.

Okay so after being a lurker and an observer this entire time (I never left the fandom) I feel that mitsukouers are overly critical of the ship b/c they feel like doing so will make them seem like rational thinkers but here’s a secret: the broader fandom will never respect you so you might as well own it and embrace them

there’s so much going on when it comes to mitsukou and hearts… Mitsuba having his heart ripped out and trying to replace it with Kou. Tsukasa making the price of Mitsuba’s wish to be No.3 his heart. Mitsuba only feeling satiated after eating the hearts of other living (whether supernatural or human) beings. Kou offering Mitsuba a heart which can sincerely be interpreted as his own metaphorical heart…

I have no idea what memories are going to stick since the timeline repeated itself so many times, but it would be exciting if Teru left this experience seeing Mitsuba as some sort of death omen for Kou. He wouldn’t be wrong about that either…

The big truth (and mitsukou fans won’t even accept this) is that mitsukou IS the plot. Tsukasa locked in on Kou as the perfect battering ram to break their world, and has manufactured the perfect environment to push Kou towards doing so. Kou doesn’t conceptualize turning into a supernatural as the extinction of his own life but rather an extension of it, and he believes in full faith that if he turns into a supernatural he will have the power to turn himself and Mitsuba into humans. Regardless of whether or not this is true is irrelevant because it is the only way to have a happy ending- he won’t let himself imagine otherwise. All of Kou’s family and friends (outside of Mitsuba) have little knowledge of his relationship with Mitsuba, and this lack of knowledge has already led to disastrous consequences and will only lead to more. Since Mitsuba was introduced we’ve been watching his side plot with Kou slowly snowball and it’s about to overtake everything.

I don’t think that people step back and think about just how manufactured and personalized the Picture Perfect World was to Mitsuba’s desires. His “reunion” with Kou, being grouped with Kou in class, having Satou and Yokoo tease Kou about him, all of these are things that Mitsuba sought out. A large base of readers understand this as Mitsuba wanting to be Sousuke, but none of this is what Sousuke had- it’s what Sousuke wanted too.

Sometimes I think about how Tsukasa ripped out Sousuke’s heart and then Sousuke tried to fill the hole in his chest with Kou and I get overwhelmed.

Just wanted to say that I completely love your headcanons and contributions as a Mitsukouer! Going on your twt and reading through all the small analyses you have on the pair was one of the favorite parts of my day, so sorry to see everything that has been happening so far. The tbhk community has a way of twisting one's words and blowing things out of proportion, the first to throw stones yet cry about online harassment.. Hope you're doing well! 🫶
