Mental Decluttering
The road to mental decluttering starts when a person realizes their tendency to overthink things and acknowledge that overthinking does more harm than good to their mental stability.
There are two things that people usually overthink, the past and the future. There is a quote by Timothy Randall Sanderson that says " Don't dwell on what you cant change, dwell on what you can change for if you don't make a change you will be forever changed". Many of us love to think about what if, we could have or we should have without realizing that the time being spent worrying about those things often time cause us to not live in the moment and embrace the future and what is to come.
Though overthinking is a common issue it is sometimes linked to depression. Overthinking and excessive worrying can create feelings of distress and restlessness that may lead to depression if left undealt with. In this blog post we will share with you a few tactics you can use to declutter your mind and take back full control of your mental stability and become peaceful again.
The first step to regain a peace of mind is finding a way to get your thoughts out. This can be done through talking to a therapist or someone you consider to be your "person" (someone you trust with your personal information that will never judge you no matter what and will always give you positive advice). Another way to let your thoughts out is through writing. You can keepsake a journal to remind you of your journey after you have overcome or you can burn it after each entry so that you don't risk leaving it around for any unauthorized person to see it.
Another important step you can take to declutter your mind is Reduce multitasking. Multitasking gives us a sense of efficiency and completeness. However, studies have shown that multitasking actually reduces productivity and fills your mind with too much activity. Instead, go down your list of priorities and focus on one task at a time to avoid mental overload.
Think positive. As a man thinketh so is he therefore, if you consistently dwell on negativity that is the result that you will get. It is easier said than done but you have to love yourself to know that you deserve good things and you will find that it will become easier to think or speak positively.
